I think the truck used May’s palette. One way to test it might be doing the same sequence with Brendan as the rival, and the same sequence in Ruby or Sapphire, to see if the color swaps differently.

If instead you had a traded Pokémon in slot one would it let you nickname it. 7:56

Oh! The nickname you gave stuck? What if you have a traded pokemon with a nickname (such as from an in-game trade)? Does the nickname stick despite you not being the OT? Also, if you switch pokemon during that battle, does it let you rename first in party, or whoever was out last?
