I just think this chain of replies is great. Very telling of modern education. We're all trying to prove the same point with different explanations that really describe the same thing, so we end up believing everyone's got a different point. When Noone actually zoomed in on the process that is at the center of it all. (Not that the complexity of natural processes will every be fully captured by human understanding), but what we should all be describing here is the thermodynamic properties of air itself. Air is composed of molecules held loosely together through chemical bonds that can absorb and release energy in the form of heat. (Like one form of energy our favorite star (the sun) gives off a LOT of!). The atmoSPHERE of our planet is essentially a body of fluids(liquids AND gases) that moves and wiggles around constantly. That moving stuff is what we loosely call air.. a bunch of molecules binding and unbinding with eachother. Molecular bonds that absorb more heat energy push the bound molecules further apart, decreasing the over molecular density for that region of air. Those bonds that don't absorb heat energy allow the bound molecules to stick closer together in a 3d space, increasing the overall molecular density. Compare the two volumes and you'll see that "hot" air has less molecules per area of space, so a lower density, which means that area of space weighs less than a more-dense area of space. So in conjuction with other physical forces like gravity, and pressure, the dense "cold" air ultimately "falls" towards the earth, displacing the less-dense "hot" air. Honestly this explanation still isn't good enough to capture even a portion of the whole picture. Just know that EVERYTHING in life is more complicated than we will ever understand, and stop trying to be "right" because the best we can do is avoid being too wrong, and help guide others to pieces of understanding we have proven reliable.
@taiguy53
@taiguy53 2 года назад
@@johnperic6860 Air that contains a slight to significantly higher temperature, along with air with slightly to significantly substantial temperate compared to evaporated H2O, simply known as air with an increased temperature, causes the both to displace themselves due to their density in the molecular level. Just like oil and water.... Bruh stfu they're the same thing

@@bloogain Thought provoking points! Thank you. I did include too much detail and allowed a few diversions when trying to provide a "most-reliable" summary of events, and so it became pedantic. I hope to become more concise and point-driven while eliminating the possibility of usual-for-internet expected red-herring responses in future conversations. As for the understanding complexity portion, to reiterate and understand your point: I believe we can assume to fully grasp an understanding of some natural process, when a chain of causality has been established, but there will always be something more to that process which we have yet to see or understand. For example discovering atoms answered a lot of questions about matter, but said nothing about what composes atoms, or leads to their discrete behaviors, or what those behaviors are under varying contexts. Since my point is invalidated by it suggesting the point itself is much more complex, then it can no longer stand true, as the point will eventually need adjustments, correct? Then there was no ultimate truth in making my point. And yet I cannot accept that we understand any single thing in all its entirety. I still want to believe that it is always accurate to say "there's more to this" because we cannot ever definitely say "there is no more to this" from what you said i realize i cannot make my point on complexity if I truly believe it. Then maybe there is a level of ultimate comprehension that I cannot fathom. Where do you stand on this? What CAN we say and rely on if anything at all? I would agree I think I'm pretty intelligent when it comes to most people and I have a lot to thank for that. Thats why I write stuff like this in hopes of contributing to my own growth and others', through responses like yours.

@@MrJockelus "standardized" soviet era buildings tends to be warmer than new projects. It's not like in all of the huge russian land the building technology is the same everywhere. In Yakutia buildings are built on piles and not on the ground. Piles can be like 15 meters deep in the ground: see that video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oRBEvdwv420.html That's because of a permanent frost, if you build a house on the ground the permanent frost would melt and the house would be destroyed. Also there's a 3 layers of glass on the windows (in central regions is 2 layers) and 2 layers of front doors (literally 2 doors and there's a space between them like 20 centimeters) especially in soviet apartments. Now people often remove that 2 doors and install 1 beefy front door.

The coldest I've been in was -39 (which happens to be the temperature at which celsius and fahrenheit are the same) and the only weirdness I experienced was a metal door handle feeling sticky because it froze the moisture on my skin. I n countries with hard winters we hest with burning wood, in ovens, not open fireplaces where the heat is quick and the wood burns away quickly. Then we insulate with good materials like glasswool or Stonewool and different foam fillers around doors and windows. It need to be airtight every other place than ventilation openings, which channels often are heated to prevent condense water being formed. Traditionally they run in the chimney but we do use electricity to heat them where there is no chimney. In Norway a new house no need to preserve the temperature no mather if its changing outside or what your type of heating you use. We also have heated floors in bathrooms and the area inside the front door. Many also have floor heating of some sort even if the floors is wooden. The material of choise for a warm house is wood and it need to be something else than hardwood because the house moves with temperature so hardwood would crack and splinter.

As someone from the tropics, 10°C is the lowest I ever faced. So, yeah, I’m basically dead even before that window opened. Edit: So we are already in the coldest time of the year in our country now, but it’s still only 13°C at night where I live XD. It’s the fast flowing air that’s killing me here now. 😂

I lived in Alaska for a season and a half and for 3 weeks straight it was -60. Some things you don't realize is that the colder it gets, the less cold it feels even though it's much colder. This is due to the lack of humidity which interacts with your skin. It's extremely dangerous at that temperature because you get the sensation you're warmer than you actually are, but in reality you're losing heat much more quickly.
@LudvikKoutnyArt
@LudvikKoutnyArt Год назад
To be honest that doesn't sound right. If you feel warmer than you actually are, it's because you really are warmer. So the danger of the cold does relate to how cold you feel. There's no special magic, deceptive cold where you suddenly get frostbite without feeling it. It's exactly because of the humidity, as you said. What usually steals most of the heat from your body is the water molecules in the air bouncing off of your skin. That's why people feel much colder when they exit shower with their body still wet, especially somewhere where the air flows a lot, like if you open a window. So the super cold air actually is technically warmer, because it has so few water molecules the air can't steal the heat of your body very efficiently. Don't get me wrong, -60 cold is still super dangerous, but as I said, there's no magic paradox where you be deceived by feeling warm while freezing to death. Except alcohol of course :D
