"You've probably lubed a rubix cube before." Never, I have no idea what the hell or how it works, but I'll see you do this because I'm hooked from the title alone.
i can confirm i have never lubed a cube before and never even thought about it. As a matter of fact ive never even completed one outside of taking the stickers off lol
8:48 Been there done that. Worst part is the walk of shame if the girl doesn't allow you to take a shower after, but laying a towel down is definitely the right call
honestly, over the years of trying to lube my cubes with all sorts of lubricants, i came around to machine oil from my grandmas knitting machine. It was long lasting silicone based oil, that pretty much does not evaporate, and it is chemically stable, so it only gunks up over time as dust, and all sorts of other particles sticks to the lube. So my cubes are good for my use even after years of not tinkering with them after I bought 200ml bottle of cheap industrial lube (WD-40 like), and I still have most of the can, even after using it not only on my cubes, but all around the house.
The whole sentence after 2:58 sounds like something out of a nursery rhyme from an alternate universe. "If you're cubing at home, and the cube is too loud, add some lube and It'll dampen the sound."
"I'm sure all of you have lubed a cube before." Good news! I have never even heard of this, and neither have the comments, meaning the algorithm has blessed your video.
@@PERTEKofficial Its called something along the lines of "Intellectual Property". I dont actually know all the law stuff about it but basically, if 2 companies use the same name but their products are different, its still alright because no customer/consumer would be confused about the same name of a company but in 2 completly different things (like maybe a hotel and a video game store as example). But if they have the same name AND do the same stuff, then thats bad because it sure would cause confusion. Coincidentally, rubiks cubes (the official) also have their own lube.I think this text is long enough at this point though so you could probably understand the rest.
there are different kinds of lubes. Some do that too. I´d recommend anything thats actually advertised as speedcube lube though. So like, vaseline is a no-go and shit.
@Froggotomy @jtaimelaon4735 Yall non tubers think u know everything huh? LOOK AHEAD IS A CUBING TERM REFFERING TO LOOKING AT PTHER F2L PAIRS DURING F2L SO U DONT PAUSE ITS USSUALLY HARD TO LOOK AHEAD WHEN TURNING FAST THE LAST ONE WAS SLOW SO THIS MAKES SENSE"i had 10 strokes reading this"stfu u know nothing and think ur so smart u arent
Back when I was in high school and first heard of lubricating a rubik's cube to make it turn better, I definitely over did it. I popped off each of the 12 edge pieces and put a large dollop of vasoline behind each piece. Then just turned it randomly for a while to spread it around. It wasn't as stiff to turn as the final experiment you did here, in fact it eventually became quite smooth to turn. However, that involved a lot of the vasoline slowly leaking out between the pieces. I just popped it open, over a decade later, and it's still got that lovely slimy texture. Turns great now though
I'd like to see a level where you take apart the whole cube and then re-assemble it again while it's inside a bucket filled with lubricant. And then do that again, but with motor oil instead of lubricant.
The only criticism i have is that this test should have been done on 5 separate cubes, since you're basically just stacking the lube from previous tests
Lube is sticky because you want it to stay on the surfaces you apply it to. Its purpose is to reduce friction between 2 surfaces. It does this but creating a smoother barrier for the surfaces to glide across
0:40 “most of you have probably lubed a cube before” i’ve never even touched an actual rubix cube before my friend, you are underestimating how bored I have to be rn to wind up on such an alienating RU-vid video
I don’t ‘do’ rubiks cbes, I just got recommended this video for some reason, so even though 12 seconds on the unlubed cube is probably pretty normal for people in the community who practice regularly, it’s absolutely insane to see from the perspective of someone who’s never actually solved one.
i just have a method of "little bit of this little bt of that", i use 1-3 scoops of angstrom dignitas and 2 drops of dnm-37. i am sorry i do not use speedcubeshop lube i just can't buy it
Hi Ari. I think less is better. I recently switched to Angstrom Gravitas and Dignitas, and I use much less than shown in the videos. To break in I do 50 solves. After that I make changes if necessary. Because the following applies: adding lube is better than cleaning and starting over. That's also the problem with Celeritas A & B. If you use too much of A, you have to clean and repeat. With other lubricants you can save yourself with DNM37 or Compound X. I apply Compound X in half drops with a toothpick. And after each change 50 solves.
I didn’t even know people put lube in rubix cubes, but stumbling upon a video of a guy substantially overlubricating one is definitely a 1:00 AM RU-vid moment
It would be a really funny prank to pull in a competition Just like i pull out the lube bottle and start putting it on the cube as i stare at my competitors while they look in horror as i just peircingly smile at them like a crazed lunatic and as they beg i finish the bottle JUST TO PULL OUT A SECOND ONE as they say "NO STOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU MADMAN" and then i pull out a jug of cube lube and just start pouring it on
It would be interesting to see whether heating up the cube with a hairdryer would improve the performance of the lube as it should become less viscous.

I’ve never lubed a cube before this was a random video from RU-vid and now I must know what will happen when you use to much, I am hoping for the secret to time travel
I find it hilarious that after the "light lube" he was already having issues I'm so confused whst the proper amount of lube is cause it seemed like even the most minimal amount was too much
