From 18 to 100, skipping every rest floor using Movers. Pine T. Sr. joins Flavio, Punio, and Frankly as one of the few NPCs to make it to the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials. Also, Pine T. Sr. sucks: • (PM: TTYD) Pine T Sr s...
Hey son, I'm extremely terrified, this man and his bomb friend assaulted a dragon nearly 40× his size and killed him in two turns. I think I'm more scared of the thing who saved me than the beast he defeated.
I don't need unique dialogue. The fact that they had unique pathing for Pine T Sr in this room means they actually DID think of this possibility. And, what you witnessed when you saw him take that pathing was programming that I don't think anyone else in the world before you has seen actually get utilized. That's about as equivalent to unique dialogue to me.
Speaking as a programmer, a pathfinding AI of this calibre probably calculates the path needed to go based on where there are obstacles and where there are none. So the path he takes at the end is not something I think the programmers actually put in manualy, but something they made an universal system for so it would work on any floor with an exit pipe
It's interesting that they made him hide behind the pillar and shake, and he even goes out on his own afterwards. I wasn't even expecting that much to be honest.
I think it is more likely that the two cutscenes are conflicting, so he is starting to walk towards the pipe, but his pathfinding gets screwed up by Bonetail.
nah if you notice he shakes in fear, and pathfinding is pretty advanced for this kinda game. they gotta manually make the paths for the ai's. bonetail room isnt standard so they had to make a new one
"The... THE TREASURE!! I have NO idea how you survived that but thank you so much!" **opens chest** "What's this...? A badge? I think I've heard myths about this badge! I could probably sell it for hundreds..." "But you know what? I shouldn't take this. You guys got me here, you've earned it completely!" "Besides, my real treasure is waiting for me up above... Let's get out of here!"
Robert Anderson that’s some fitting dialog, it would’ve been interesting if there was a Trouble quest that gave you the option of escorting an NPC down the whole thing, just to get a reaction from them.
Aarantula can you imagine the story he’d have to tell the others back in Rougeport about getting the clearing the whole pit? Something that’s evidently never been done due to Bonetail being “alive” down there
Well, this game does have some dialog that is impossible to activate without glitches, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had unique dialogs for a low-chance yet possible occurrence
@@lafave2555. In GlitzVille. There's this fight in which you NEED to use the little Yoshi to damage the enemies and there are cutscenes after the battle, but the game includes the dialogs for 3 other partners even though there's no legit way to have them active during that cutscene
@@mouthlesshater but the cutscene itself is only ever supposed to appear during chapter 3. Even then, little yoshi is the ONLY one who can beat them, super guards don’t hurt them.
Well there was no reason Pine T Sr. going to the path. He must have been programmed to not make a move as long as the room he was in was not cleared. What's actually surprising is his unique move to the side of the room and the "shaking with fear" animation.
The funny thing is that I thought I'd have to beat Bonetail to rescue Pine T Sr for the longest time. Now I know that I was by far wrong. And to this day, I'm still trying to beat him! I got to him once, but was so weak that one touch finished my hard work in an instant!
Since the new remake just came out on the Nintendo Switch, can you might test out taking Pine T. Sr. to Bonetail and the new Boss on when you get a chance to see if there's new dialogue appears?
It does seem like they planned for the chance for it to happen, but never really assumed anyone will actually do that. Else he definitely would have just stand there and had worse pathfinding to the final pipe.
@@wiggelxiv4642 was my thought as well too.... till You realize that they probably just did that because they KNEW No matter HOW low the odds were in order for that to happen... they should make it like that so just in case all of the planets were to align like that and a player actually made it to him like that.. there wouldn't be any issues with that toad there, IF he were to have stuck around You vie extreme mover luck. . .
What if you hacked your position, or the collision of Bonetail's corpse or Gloomtail, so you could reach Pine T. Sr. on Floor 100 before he leaves? Then, talk to him?
Im pretty sure there's no dialogue once he reaches a floor with an exit because its a scripted event of him running to the pipe and exiting. Its probably something like Exit Pipe -True >Play dialogue and run to the exit pipe -False >Walk around normally
Yesterday I did pit of 100 trials and I got a mover on floor 70 then i used it to go down 5 levels and i got another movie on 75 so i pretty much skipped the entire thing
"Well, I found your dad, and in doing so I even made it to the bottom and defeated a skeleton dragon!" "Oh, and did you find the treasure, too?" "Treasure?"
They got this right in the original JP release and fixed it in the remake, but Bonetail is actually a girl. The original US release got that wrong, so we assumed the whole time, Bonetail was a boy.
Every video like this: "What happens if you do this incredibly rare thing that only has a 1 in 2 million chance of happening? I bet it's something awesome you guys here we go." "Wow nothing happened the nerve of these game designers how could they have overlooked this."
the same dialogue doesn't surprise me. It is cool that they did program the event though even though no one would ever get this to trigger, but it's cool they still proofed it since while unlikely it was still possible. Despite its rarity though, I think it would have been cool to have had easter egg dialogue though since he was trying to get the pit's treasure.
Not really a unique event or even programmed. This is astounding people for no reason lol. pine t default action is to run away and shake when you're on floors with enemies. Specifically, he tends to run to the left of the screen even if an enemy is in front of him. however since hes (for 99% of players) 1 floor away from exiting with the pipe, no one will generally see this as people just quickly kill the cloud and exit. Thus, upon reaching floor 100, you have an enemy (the boss), and pine T runs to the left and shakes. Pretty standard and generic programming.
@@3DTwinkies I guess that makes sense too, although it's interesting he can move during the cutscene but I guess no logic locks his movement during that event.
That's crazy to think about if the chances are 1 in 2.3 million assuming there was enough materials on earth and Nintendo managed to sell 100 million copies in this hypothetical scenario ten people would have experienced this and probably not even think it was special at all but sadly in reality paper Mario ttyd door only sold a million copies :(
I'd wager power bounce, multi bounce, defense up badges and a truck load of power rush badges. Possibly spike and fire shields to counter enemy protection Basically the "I don't feel like trying" setup.
Nintendo could’ve hidden some ultimate secret dialogue at the end if anyone somehow managed to do this without cheats... But they didn’t. They could have, but they didn’t. What a waste indeed
Nothing to add here, just apprechiating Developer Foresight. Also whoever gets this event legit should go and demand 3 Lucky Days from Lunky the Bomb Omb now.
I've always tried to grasp for the joke that the badge Return Postage is where it is I've never had a good answer. Best joke is that it's a hell of a trip for the mailman
Ah, another pointless fact that resulted in nothing useful. Another job well done. Seriously tho, nice .3.b Honestly love little tidbits in Paper Mario, even if it doesn't amount to much.
The unique pathing and a quiver in fear animation not enough for you? a 1 in 2 million+ chance of it happening normally, and you expect the devs to put the effort of unique dialog in? it is satisfying enough to see that it was thought of at all. i still need to sit down and complete the pit... my younger brother has done it, and ive gotten close (80+), but it is such an ordeal to do normally... how much danger strat prep would i want to do before, and is it really that reliable when piercing damage is a potential threat? Not to mention im highly suspicious of that 5fp cap of yours, but cheating was needed to get anywhere near possible, so who cares.
You actually could just do this in a normal run. Do the trouble and simultaneously plan to go to the bottom. Not tooo crazy an idea except people doing the trouble likely are going to do it quick and leave the pit.
That why that paper mario is more bad comapred to the 64 version seriously the dev team who put 99 badge and make to spam all the same badge like power rush and can use many time we like seriously that why that paper mario js the worst that the worst
