This was good info Lena! I’ve been trying to take the sisterlock class but the classes are very full, I’m on the waiting list now. This class you took gave me an idea but as I watched the video through its entirety it only teaches you how to retighten, and I can do that already, I guess I’ll have to take the other class so I can learn everything from to start to finish to do them for others. You don’t like the tool Huh? Lol Definitely worth the $250 though, as you said especially because reties are pricey. Thanks for sharing, I appreciate you.

@LenasLovelyLocs1 2 года назад
Hi Myia! I thought the same thing! I understand that they don't want you to 'learn' how to start a loc, but teaching you how to repair your locs SHOULD be included. Girl, when I asked her how do I fix the hole in one of my locs, she looked at me kinda crazy and said, 'you'd have to have your consultant fix it for you'.....its like they WANT you to have to spend more money by having to sit thru repairs during your reties🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ I appreciate you visiting and commenting ❤❤❤

@@LenasLovelyLocs1 “ learn” pleased these sister lock consultants some of them really need to stop being so full of themselves. If this is supposed to be a safe place for black women to feel beautiful in their natural hair why are they being so secretive. And then if you do something to your hair or choose to do something with your hair your consultant will just drop you and make you feel like you’re the problem and you can’t even be the governor of your own hair. I think that’s so ridiculous. My recent sister locks consultant drop me because I asked her about holes my locks. And I was already afraid to say something to her because I was afraid of something like that but I shouldn’t be afraid to talk about my hair or the concerns of my hair. And not be able to fix my own head because you want money. But this supposed to be a safe place for black women to feel beautiful in their natural kinks and curls ridiculous. Let me get off my soapbox.

Hi girly, you look so beautiful, I love the hairstyle! It's good that you took the class. I hated that tool during my retightening, oh my! The pain. The London lock tool has the same design although there are many complaints about it hurting your thumb when closing the latch so many times but it's really convenient that the lock doesn't slip away. Don't be discouraged, it will take time, practice and probably a few mistakes but you'll master your retightenings and besides, I still believe the best university we've got is right here. RU-vid will set you free!

This is so interesting, I wonder what the cost benefit would be over say… 2-3 reties. I think this was a great idea. You mentioned saving time in the chair, how much time will it take you to do your own reties?
@LenasLovelyLocs1

Hi! Welllll, I don't plan to do my reties on my whole head, lol. I tried one row and it took me all of forever! @LenasLovelyLocs1 2 года назад
Hey! It definitely could be cheaper 😩 I read somewhere that $150 is for the tool and supplies and the other $100 is for the instructor(?) Someone correct me if I'm wrong. @froggybug 2 года назад
@@LenasLovelyLocs1 wow….the tool is definy NOT worth $150. The rest of the stuff in the box doesn’t account for that amount either. Shampoo I can’t use (I’m a little over 1 1/2 years but my front is not locked..at all) conditioning cream and spray I’ll probably never use..cause why Re-introduce product back into your hair? My teacher added an extra $50 to give me 3 of the curved Jamil tools (which are 4 for $3.98 on EBay.) The class did help me feel confident in trying it on my own but….$350 for 2 hours….but like you said no training on starting new locs, no training it on fixing a loc AND if you go back to an official Sisterloctician (which is recommended) …they want to charge $85/hr to restart your retightenings because you may have “messed up” your parts. Didn’t hear part that until I tried to make an maintenance appointment.☹️
