isn't that kinda of the point though? The world is dangerous, to the point where Lae-zel doesn't immediately kill you because even the starting enemies are deadly to most@@Mediados
It's wild to me that Elminster chooses to send a Simulacrum to seek out Gale... and STILL has the audacity to demand my finest cheese and wine. Buddy, that's for PEOPLE people, not snowmen. Tell Elminster to show up personally if he wants some Waterdhavian wheel.
If you don't choose to attack him, he's real. If you do, the DM stares at you for a moment, and decides that he's now a simulacrum, so that your campaign doesn't immediately end.
I love that despite game finish on lvl 12 and 6th level spells slots on our characters you can find spells on higher lvl used in dialogues or game mechanics
Who, the mind flayer? The clones of myself? The red dragon? Ansur was higher level than all of them and only level 17, no one used finger of death, power word kill, divine word or anything like that. Maybe the nautiloid brings them if you take too long?@@SarudeDanstorm
Considering it was not the real Elminster... What bothers me more is that you can kill Tara while Gale stands beside you. Yes, he screams "TARA, NO!", but it triggers no dialog with him and if you talk to him he smiled at you: "What's on your mind?". Like nothing happened. For me it fealt that Elminster was more like the coworker you go along with pretty good, while Tara is actually Gale's friend.
Act 3 in a nutshell. So much less reactivity from companions that it makes it so hard to play and replay. I still love the game and have beaten it a few times but Act 3 really needs some work.
@@ninjificus I wish there was less content in act 3, most of the quests are not only barebones but do not branch seamlessly from the main quest like it happens in Act 1 and 2, that aside from the problem you mentioned which is lack of reactivity. Also, maybe it's only me, but I feel the final battle lacks epicness and a bigger sense of urgency. Games like Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect did it better. Hell, I'll play Devil's Advocate and say Dragon Age II, as mediocre as it is, has that "Oh shit!" moment in the final act that BG3 is lacking. Hopefully this will be fixed with a "Definitive Edition".
Found this out on my genocide run, I didn't realize it would take Gale out of the party at the end of act 2. Had to replace him with the Hireling. Named it Gust.
Man. imagining him dying alone, with no one, without Tav even seeing it in the game and only a "Gale has left the party" pop-up to announce it makes me so sad. Like a fizzled out flame. I know that was the intention, but damn.
I mean, it's either that or he quite literally blows up the entirety of Waterdeep with his magical nuke. It's best that he die alone. It's noble but sad.
@@fatterperdurabo42069 The one in which he has agency. So not cutting off his hand and leaving him to die. Him going off to explode alone at least alliws him some dignity despite how horrifically sad it is. I hope he gets a decent afterlife despite Mystra being mad at him.
I did this by accident on my first playthrough because I didnt trust the Lvl 1 "Weary Traveler" with 120HP. Cut to end of Act 2 when I've been trying to romance Gale and he just fucking leaves giving me no clue what the fuck I coudlve done to prevent this. Couldn't find an answer anywhere probably because I was the only person stupid enough to outright murder an unsuspecting old man. It was a depressing act 3 without my wizard boyfriend
still wait to find a necromancy spell where i can clone a new gale out of the hand... perhaps from the circus maid after returning the clown... - would be a nice touch...
I killed Elminster’s construct when he first came to the camp. Even though Gale helped me destroy the construct, he still acts like Elminster is at the camp to talk to, even though he isn’t
Wait, so Gale doesn't even respond in any way when you murder Elminster right in front of his very eyes? Aren't they supposed to be friends? Even if all you did was kill a simulacrum of Elminster, wouldn't Gale be incredibly pissed that your first response when meeting a legendary wizard and friend of his was to drive a sword through his chest? After all, simulacrum or no, this kinda fucks Gale over hard. Even if we disregard the chest bomb for a second, why is he not upset that you instantly picked violence against Elminster?
I agree it's super wierd that he doesn't comment this at all. It's amazing game with amazing choices with consequences but sometimes obvious movments are not commented at all
@@mroiddzhem7311 but he doesn't know beforehand or the game has a minor plot hole, because when met first time he talks about his need for rest and food which gale complies, but this is far fetched thinking I suppose, only found out myself just now
Yeah I pretty much have to check RU-vid for all of the villain content since I can't bring myself to actually trigger these. The closest I've come is to save, then give a rude response to see the outcome, then quick load and give the polite respond before moving on.
I remember the first time I saw him, and recalling bg1 and bg2 I immediately saved in hopes to have a save spot in case the scariest wizard in faerun was in a bad mood. Also fully expected to see that 1 turn into a 20 the second he got hit lol
@@AnayaGuardian if you defeat him without dialogue at the lathander's temple, gale will get the "gale paralysis" effect at the gate of the rising sun towers and dies after 4 rounds. but he can be resurrected
Ngl maybe other than Minthara, Gale is the buggiest companion for me I was at the vault and didnt even met Elminster also in this encounter I didnt have Gale in my party but he suddenly showed up when talking to him. Poor Gale.
In my first Durge playthrough Minthara kept rambling about how Gale shouldn’t go through with Elminster‘s idea. Mind you, I had bitten off Gale‘s hand at the beginning. He was not in our party, and we had never met Elminster 😭
I imagine what would happen with a bunch of lvl 9 or somethin if REAL Elminster was there lol. I mean, wasn't he around level 20 in Baldurs Gate I or II? Time Stop Spell Sequencer Spell Trigger Yall dead before even touching him again.
@@CatroiOz BG2:ToB and all of the other editions and DLCs to BG2 capped at 8M XP, which translates to lvl 40 for most martial classes except Paladins - those would end up at lvl 34, while most casters would cap out at lvl 31, (Sorcerer, Mage and Druid). Level cap remover override mods were popular of course. BG2 without Expansions capped around lvl 18 at most, lvl 14 at least.
@@nicolasnavarro6077 Well I tried kill Elminster in act 3 after you get book and succeed. But nothing happens. Maybe in the near future I'll try to finished game with that result to see if Gale say something new when you kill Elder Brain
You’d think Elminster would send a second simulacrum to Gale alone. After all, Mystra told him to give the message to Gale, period, not to give it to him only if his companions weren’t murderhobos.
can you let him seal gael AND kill him somehow? because if strike him during dialogue he just dissapears, and you cant paralize him since he is construct
I killed the actual him due to a bug in patch 6. It was the trespassing bug that followed you to your camp. Elminster just so happened to be there to talk to Gale and decided to fight me. I got incredibly lucky with my interactive roll to go first because he was ACTUALLY level 20. Scared the living shit outta me, but Divine Smite STAYS winning! That file eventually got so bugged that I deleted it though.
He turned into ice. Grats on killing a simulacrum. His real version is still out there. Probably concluding that you are not worth any further time nor effort on his part.
Well he turned into ice when he was killed, meaning he’s a Simulacrum and Silmilacrum’s only have 1/2 the HP of the person they are a copy of, so he has over 200 which is pretty dang decent for a Wizard (it’s higher than even a 20th level character would normally be able to get in D&D)
I'm wildly annoyed about Elminster whining about his feet in light in him not even having actually been there. Ate my food too. Simulacrum don't need to do that, this was pure assholery right here and if I'm really honest about it I'm impressed.
what if you play as origin Gale and do this? what would happen? not like he could leave the party considering he's the players character???? would that just like, break the game LMAO
as far as i know player wyll after killing mizora in act 2 leaves the party, so gale will probably leave too. it doesnt really break the game, you would just need to load previous save.
I just killed Elminster and Gale hasn't left my party yet. I'm in act 2 now and I'm afraid to talk to him. I also have not gave him a single magic item.
@@AnayaGuardian u have Kendrick’s armor so idk if this is a mod or u somehow slipped past the wizard and finished the boss fight, or I assumed had a new game plus
@@nalrashido i don't really know what canon events are for Spirit Eater but i can assume that Hero of Neverwinter is cured so s/he never got a chance to even meet Elminster. But it could be epic! 😀
@@nalrashidoBG3 is an inaccurate portrayal of his actual power tbh. The game literally doesn't have all the spells from the 5th edition books coded in, and many of the spells that are there happen to be nerfed severely from vanilla 5e. If he actually wanted to, he could have just cast dimension door and then hit you with meteor swarm.
Me: Yes, Gale, you're more than welcome to stay in the party, and thank you for being responsible and wanting to remove yourself if you determine the orb to have become a grave danger. The orb: **becomes a grave danger** Gale: **leaves** Me: **surprised Pikachu face**
Stuff like this is what makes the game only “good”, but not “great”. I hope Larian is building a long list of plot things that need fixing and new voice lines that need recording and will do a true proper content drop in the future that lives up to the vision of what was set in motion by Act 1. And for real…. how come ONLY Karlach has voiced lines when you play her as Origin?! Why do the other characters not get voices when they had actual actors doing many/most of the same lines they’d need when they are just companions?!? I get Tav being voiceless… and the Dark Urge…. but for real…. Shadowbae / Astaribae / Lae’zel / Wyll / Gale should all have voiced Origin characters like Karlach does.
Elminster is a lame dmpc. "Uh no actually you cant kill him because he is a simulacrum." Ok how about he shows up himself then. Pretty sure regardless of his stats my sorc would solo him.
nah XD you play dungeon and dragons Elminster plays dragon ball...and in his game you are Yamcha and he is Goku super sayian god lol you can call him a dmpc but he have a couple of novels that explain his story and hes awesome. started as a bandit got some fighter levels, then got into a city ended up a thief and then recieved the blessing of Mystra getting priest and wizard levels on his way...hes just too much now.
even with 100 of your sorcs, plus your whole party together wouldn't even be able to bother him, he would crush you with a wave of his hand, he is almost a god in DnD lore
"Seven mary sues" lol Elminster started out as a homeless urching stealing for scraps and hone his craft over centuries of practice. There is an entire series of books detailing his slow and painfull rise to power. In what world is he a mary sue.
