First thing to do before The flight is to Take a picture of your Luggage with YOU NexT to it. So in case of lost YOU can show The pic to The authorities. Easier to Find. Also try to buy other color than black. 80-90% of bags are black.

Bag tags can come off due to wear and tear or getting jammed in the equipment. Many airlines eventually open even locked baggage to identify an owner. Place your name, addresses, all phone numbers, and itinerary inside the bag. Put a common item but that's unusual for luggage inside. Your report and the airline's report will create a computer match. Make a list of items inside, including make, model, size, color before leaving. Also bag details. If changing planes, make sure there is at least an hour between scheduled landing and takeoff. Choose a nonstop flight even if it's at an airport slightly further away. Don't put food in that will stink after a few days, sheeeesh! Don't attach "fragile" stickers. Some people like a good challenge!
I use to work the lost bag phones for United Airlines. AIWAYS put your contact information on the outside and inside of your luggage. That way if your tag gets ripped off we can still identify who it belongs to from your inside information.
I cover my suitcase with bubble wrap they have that at my local airport where u pay then put it in a machine and is wrapped with bubble wrap! I love that!!!!!!!
In Addition to your knowledge, I was an airport employee in lost baggage section we have a software called "world tracer" through this software we can trace if a person didn't get his bag. Means if a bag got in an unclaimed condition, staffs take that bag details(baggage tag number, color, shape, name on that bag, etc) and feed it into "world tracer", like this way the person who didn't get his bag the staffs they will make a complaint and take details from him, and this details also feed into this system so the system can match all these details and decide whose baggage is this...
@@annakayemiller4385 YOU COULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE WHO SAID "go throgh again u have to be walking the who time" AND MY STEP DAD COULD HAVE BEEN FLYING THE PLANE!
accurate and informative as always. Thank you for this video. Here in hong kong the unclaimed bags are kept for 3 months and then donated to charity. We don't auction it here. Most airports do have a big warehouse for such bags.
Airlines watching this video: *_NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO_*
Well everything that is said in this video is very true. I work at an airport and I have witnessed all of the above. However what was not mentioned was that there are airlines that if your bag doesn't make it to the destination as the owner. They get compensated with amenities and sometimes money even, right up until the day their bags turn up. If your bags get damaged during transportation, some airlines go as far as getting a new bag for the owner as compensation. They keep the broken one to be discarded later.
I don't know man. Likes are useless honestly. All they do is bring your comment to the top and you basically get more attention. But you don't win a prize or anything for having a thousands likes or something. I don't understand why would people beg for 'em. Smh.
I worked at an airlines and the worst was skis and golf clubs. They are so bulky and awkward they take a lot of space. Oh yeah, and everything get’s tossed around. The worst is the over 50 pound bags. I ended up with tennis elbow from that job. Oh yeah...and even though we were in a union we got just above minimum wage. I didn’t stay there long.
Just came back from a holiday. My hard shell suitcase got cracked and a pillow from my babies car seat got lost 🙄 ( even though it was wrapped in a plastic bag). On the bright side, my vacation was awesome! 😎
My baggage got left in the plane, it had all my clothes in it. I had to stay in the same clothes for 3 days it was horrible. There were no clothing shops near my hotel either
It will be kept in the airport for 5 days.if still unclaimed,it will be transferred to a warehouse for 2 months.if still not,it will go to charity or bid or shops of unclaimed.thats why the tag is very important *That's The Answer*
lol I once lost my luggage and got a first class flight back to get it and returned back with first class as an apology from the Swiss airline administration
This problem is reminding me at the problems that passengers are facing with the operator Thomas Cook. I have read that because of the problems also the baggage does not reach the owners and they have no clue where their baggage is at this very moment. I wonder if this information applies worldwide (in all international airports) ?
When I traveled to Kansas City in 2017, my luggage had arrived before I arrived at KC :) It did not come up on the conveyor belt and I reached the baggage support desk. Lo and behold, my luggage was right there waiting for me. All the way from India after 23 hours of flight.
i work at the airport. usually if passengers check in their rimova or samsonite bags, i usually affix those bags with fragile tags even passengers say it's fine. those bags are like 1000$ each. it still hurts my soul if it get damaged, even if it's not my money. i have a condition call thrifty
This is why you always keep our most VALUABLE and IMPORTANT objects, *IN YOUR OWN PERSONAL CARRIER BAG.* I cannot say this enough, important objects, documents, tablets, laptops, business things, *KEEP IT IN YOUR PERSONAL BAG.*
Check inside bag for ID or a form of it. Mail, prescriptions, etc. Usually a lonly bag = bomb but with the x ray machine now that's not such a issue. 8:30. Basically don't get a Gucci or MK bag if you don't want it possible getting damaged. I like my thrift shop suitcase!!
Thats how I allmost lost £25000,00. My big Amethist, Sugalite, Jasper rocks and my great grandmothers Saphire got sold after 3 days. Thankfully I got them all back because the airport was making a froud by selling Peoples luggege without the fair waiting time.
It does not make sense. They have details of each passenger. Airline takes all details while booking tickets why? Cant they contact passenger.. he might got medial emergency or got health issues.. to rush to home or hospital
As a ramp agent this is correct, however we hate bag protectors we need bags to slide in the plane and when they are wrapped in the plastic they don’t slide and are therefore thrown... And a fragile sticker does t mean anything to us...
I worked in the baggage service responsible of these issues, we usually give them a call but not all passengers provide phone numbers, and some dont answer but they eventually come back to pick them
