Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. The stock market has plenty of opportunities to earn which I myself took advantage of. I made my first million from going diverse, mainly ETFs(stocks, bonds etc), bitcoin, and gold. Investing in any of these should be in everyones mind.

In the movie, Third Man, Orson Welles told Joseph Cotton, after Cotton became wise that Welles was a heinous war profiteer: You know what the fellow said: In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love--they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." (Greene says this speech was written by Welles.). Its a no brainer that the arms industry in the US and the supply chains was the source of dominant wealth in fhe US. And for the same reason, gave us enormous wealth disparity. If you are not part of this war machine, you are left with peanuts.

Good to hear your voice again, and with such an informative video as usual. It makes sense that productivity drops dramatically in war because people are scrambling to safety and away from their productive jobs. Now they become refugees and need help and support. The Ukraine war in particular emphasizes how important democracy is, so that a nuclear armed country can't be solely controlled by one possibly insane person. In a dictatorship there is no safety valve, no built-in way to replace a leader bent on annihilation of other people.

The 2020s started off to a terrible start, and it's only getting worse. I mean first one of the greatest basketball players of all times(Kobe Bryant) died. Then the scare of Covid 19 & all related problems followed. Next the civil unrest because of all the protests against police brutality. Following that the White House attack by extreme righties. And now we're at the verge of WW3. So what more catastrophes can we expect for the 2020s.

especially considering the hate and international conflict we create that sometimes lasts hundreds of years. All the resources lost in metals, entire cities leveled, hospitals. The hundreds of thousands of lives that could have become engineers, teachers and doctors. The mass indoctrination of hate that needs to take place for war to be a working system. To undo all of this damage compared to the benefits gained by a select few nations...it is not a sustainable method into the future.

I cant help but notice your editing tend to show just ISIS, Russian but forgot or failed to mention anything about what the US official governments did over the years in Japan, Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq and are still doing in Afghanistan over opium trade. I mean if you were to give an example shouldn't you atleast use one of the most country that caused wars and terror in our generation. Instead of using ISIS which is a small group of fanatics or the Soviet union who are long gone.

To anyone whos lazy basically, War is good for short term as theres recruitment for troops and manufacturers increasing the output of products mostly war types but because of this you chew through resources and troops on the front line. Some of these resources includs money so to make up for this loans and more money is made creating inflation and debt. Something related that in star wars we see companys nationalised creating control on exactly what products are made but with state owned business means no copatison so no rise in the economy or taxes. We also see this in the soviet union and elsewhere. But as you make the swich back to peace time economy most troops lose there jobs and manufacturers usaly lay off some workers as there no high demand and production is switched from mass of war stuff to luxury and commercial goods... as more peace time jobs are opened like entertaners alot more jobs are lost through the lay off of troops and manufacturers as we see in the great depression. Over time the peace time economy mames money through commercial trade and goods and taxes wich are used to pay off debts and lower inflation a bit well in providing the country with things like education and construction.

To state that war wouldn't be good for anything, is a bit... naiv, lol. Even a beginner's course in evolutionary psychology would be enough to learn that ANY persistent human behavior (that is which survives over many, many human generations) MUST bring a benefit to humanity, otherwise it would have gone extinct already ages ago. *So what is it that war has been good for in human (evolutionary) history?* Well, war greatly accelerated brain development, such as brain organization, IQ, language, tool making, strategic forward thinking, cooperation... all those massively improved in homo sapiens and made him the superior human kind. Only because of the selection pressure that homo sapiens put on himself during hundreds of thousands years of repeated warfare among small tribes, his brain developed so quickly that he was able to prevail over homo neanderthalensis even though those were much stronger in physics, much more numerous and much better adjusted to the harsh climate of the north. Without war we still would roam around in small hunter-gatherer groups with very primitive tools and would not know language, sophisticated tools, wide spread cooperation, writing, agriculture or even the wheel. So it would be great if you could show the greatness to bring a correction about what you stated so wrongly at the end of this video. :-) War certainly made (evolutionary) sense in the past. The (well justified) question is if this still is the case today?

The problem with this current war is that most people are only willing to see it from one perspective. They parrot each other for approval or trendiness, whether they actually feel sorry for these people or not is a different story. Very few are willing to see things from multiple perspectives because some of those perspectives might not be popular opinion or receive disapproval from others. It's quite sad that most people require approval from others because they're not comfortable enough in their own skin. Militaries and nukes will always be needed for countries to keep each other in check, & ensure their own national security.

Russia's oil and gas pipelines, as well as control of the Black Sea, goes through Ukraine. Ukraine have been in big conflicts with Russia for many years due to this. The control for oil/gas/ports are the primary reason for this war.

What would incentivize someone to do something for someone else with out a profit motive?
@chriskim9289
@chriskim9289 Год назад
@@Tightrope291 that is the million dollar question and it needs to be asked a lot more often. we cant imagine an incentive without profit because that is the culture we are raised in. But actually, humans are naturally problem solving and there will always be human problems to solve. We are social beings, and all people want to be a part of the society they grow up in. If you were born and raised in the jungle as the headhunters of the amazon, you would kill and wear the heads of neighboring tribes as ornaments because that is the society you are raised in and want to be a part of. You may one day come up with better ideas of hunting neighboring tribes (aka solving problems) like bows and arrows or traps and be a respected part of that society and you would be fully content with your life had you not known anything else. You wouldnt just randomly realize one day "hey wait a minute, I want to become an architect. Screw wearing dried up heads around my neck thats barbaric." that wouldnt really be possible because that would be outside your frame of reference unless you have read books or been exposed about other societies. likewise, the society we grow up in uses money as an incentive. Basic needs of life such as food, shelter and security require monetary exchange. Without it, you cannot participate in this society that you want to be a part of and be respected in, let alone survive. We cannot imagine a culture without it, it would mean changing the entire social structure that has not yet been created. We now life in a technological age, the first of its kind and things are different now. Food is made in masse in factories and a single factory can feed millions of humans, creating abundance given the amount of effort required. We can use technology to create abundance and eliminate scarcity and have it automated without people having to work in the factories. well What would this look like? it has never been done and never has there been a society built with abundance as the base level. If basic needs are a given, meaning that all of the people of earth no longer have to worry about food, shelter and security, it does not mean that everyone will sit around doing nothing all day long. It would actually be quite the opposite. human effort would be put to use in more elevated areas of progress because there will always be human problems to solve. We always want to improve our lives further and further. There would be a boom in all areas of culture: music, entertainment, ethics and ideologies of what it means to be human (how we should live). There will always be human problems to be solved and it would not be done for money because everyone's needs are met at a base level (scarcity is no longer the problem). many bursts of cultural progresses occurred in smaller scale in our history. Whenever there is great progress in human civilizations there are moments of great cultural expansion. Think of the great advances in maths, social structures and the ideologies of the greek philosophers, or the advances in music, science and arts during the renaissance. Money was a great invention and allowed complex cultural diversities to flourish but eventually things will have to change because it holds us back more than it allows us to progress. We are at a point where different nations going to war to secure benefits for their own countries inflict more damage than good. Even if one nation benefits for the length of a few generations at the cost of another, it is only too temporary. Much more advantage could have been had with cooperation than competition. Engineers have technological solutions to human problems that can only work within an evolved system. I can give you a few examples. We can tap into volcanoes to generate abundant energy for the rest of the world. We can build underwater dams to create underwater turbulence, generate energy and oxygenate the ocean to a higher level, creating more energy and more food for the rest of the world. We can optimize all crops instead of being limited to regulatory trade and historic policies. Why do we grow apples in Georgia when they grow much better in the Chilean valleys? isnt that a waste of soil? These are all ideas proposed by engineers in the 19th century in the beginning of the technological age. But there isnt enough funding or cooperation in the world to put these ideas into reality. The historic policies and regulations of the old world is the only thing holding us back. but if we can create true abundance for everyone does it really matter how much it costs? what good is such a system if we cant progress into the future. Engineers and scientists don't think in terms of social systems or political limits, rather in terms of what's physically, or chemically relevant. We have to realize that because we are social beings, it is more natural for us to take care of each other rather than to hate one another. All mothers want to feed and nurture their offspring. everyone wants to live better lives and will use whatever tools at their disposal to achieve it, that human drive will never change. in that regard change is inevitable but it doesnt happen in the course of a lifetime but over many generations as old ideas fade and new ones are conceived. If you made it this far into the comment i advise you look up Jacque Fresco and check out his lectures on social cyberneering
