I turned 91 years old last Oct. 2019. I swim 1/2 mile 4-5 x week in our large pool and have been swimming most of my life wherever I could find a pool. Life's care are wiped away with every stroke. While I'm counting laps, my mind is busy planning the day. I'm so refreshed after swimming.

Could not agree more with you. I am a French transplant in the US Midwest and I always made sure that my daughter who has ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome, attend swimming lessons since she was a baby. At almost11, she has been swimming faithfully on every week and we both enjoy swimming, side by side, in the Mediterranean sea for hours.

Wonderful!! Why is swimming classed as th overall best sport for fitness n metal well being?.From a Christian point if view, Jesus Christ is classesd as The Water of Life. When we drink from that Spiritual Well of Life we will never thirst again. Water revives, 💧 water refreshes, water energises, water quenches. Natural water typifies th spiritual. The look , th movement, th intensity, th calmness, th stillness. A spiritual being is clear, glides, is effortless. God is a spirit. How water makes me feel when I swim is how I feel spiritually. The two are entwined. As natural bread is to Jesus Christ being that spiritual bread of life that sustains us. 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️🏊🏾

I just learned to swim this year at the age of 43! I finally found an exercise I love! The thing about swimming is it’s ALWAYS a new skill to improve on especially new swimmers like me. You begin to drop weight easily. After swimming I’m hungry but I’ve noticed I don’t want heavy food. I usually want a salad and LOTS of water. I also sleep better. Once you start loving to swim you don’t realize how much time you’ve been doing it lol. Once I got over my fear of deep water, my excitement increased because I’m no longer stuck in the shallow end like a kid 😂!

After leading a sedentary life for the last 15 years, I've started swimming daily for the last seven months. My BMI dropped from 41 to 30. I've lost 36Kg (5.67 stones). I'm 41 yrs old and I have again the weight from when I was 25. My resting heart rate improved. I stopped snoring and improved my sleep (I get more rest from 5 hours of sleep than before from 7-8 hours). I wake up very early in the morning at 05:00 am and don't struggle going to sleep in the evening. I get on time to work and I'm more energetic. I'm a better husband and father. Also, I'm an inspiration to my colleagues and my patients. And, most important, I've managed to avoid any more suicidal thoughts. When I feel really low, I spend more time in the swimming pool and put more energy into it. Ending with a very sore whole body is a more acceptable way of self harm, it's not permanent and it has benefits in the long run. It definitely helped me in my grieving process following a painful separation 💔

I started swimming at age 67 and I can attest to the extreme changes in my body, my energy level and my mental outlook. When I say I started at age 67 I mean I started to actually learn HOW to swim. Working on proper form has me paying attention to every part of my body and what I’m doing with it at all times. It’s a full physical AND mental workout. My psychologist daughter tells me there is scientific evidence swimming builds new neural pathways and therefore improves memory. I believe it. At 6 months I am swimming 45-60 minutes every day and I can’t wait until tomorrow when I can get back in the pool again. .

I feel SO pumped after a session! It's surprising how it changes your mentality. At times it is so tough to get started. And then you think; "even if I just do a certain number of lengths today, then that is ok". What happens though is that you always end up doing more. Then I also believe that one of the great benefits is the brain engagement. You are continually analyzing your form while you swim. Completely focused on every part of your stroke, as you seek to improve.

After swimming and while I am swimming, I feel like in heaven. Only I and the water exist. Away with things that make slightly anxious because I tend to take things too serious. It sets this right. Makes me feel harmonius and meditative. If the zen state actually exists, it is located in a pool for me. I am a 78 yo grandmother. I have been doing a variety of Olympic pool laps for several years now. Started at 2 laps, now up to 11 laps. I went from hardly being able to walk and having to crawl out of the pool up the ladder to walking briskly again, doing pull up squats on the ladder and over the diving board chin pull ups. I appreciate your videos and will continue to watch them. Oh btw so glad you talked about swim equipment (mine is a snorkel mask) and I did feel like I was cheating 🥰. Thanks

Thanks so much for your video. In the situation of the corona virus I have been able to swim in a private out door pool in NJ. I am so glad to be able to have the benefits of the swim. I am almost 70 years old and started surfing when I was 56. In my family every sibling has serious back problems and one sister who is 78 is literally in a hospital bed in her living room and has been bedridden for 2 years thus she has extreme muscle dystrophy. My other sisters are couch potatoes. I have been swimming all of my life and I have certainly reaped the benefits of health, good posture, no weight gain or weight loss. My muscles are very toned and I attribute that to swimming and yoga. Glad see your video and I am stoked to get in the water tomorrow, rain or shine!

I've been swimming since I was a child, and I do so every opportunity I get. There is a great deal of not only mental clarity, but peacefulness in the water which helps with anxiety. There is, for me, at least- no greater relaxing or physical exercise that even compares. Or, perhaps I've met my ShangriLa in swimming.

After I swim, all my negative thoughts seem to float away. Work-related stress can put my mind at an all-time low, feeling despair, loss of motivation, and loss of creativity. I'am 62 male. I swim 3 to 4 times a week anywhere from 2000 to 5000 yards depending on how I feel and what my body tells me I can do. I started in March of 2021 and only could do 400 yards .Every time I swim I feel so good mentally and physically, many of my friends keep asking if I'm lifting weights. I lost 20 pounds and I also had a heart attack in 2015. I will say that I love to eat and this has given me the ability to eat when ever I want. I'm at the point that now training to do a triathlon because I'm in such good shape. The myswimpro videos also have helped me so much with technique. I'm doing 500 yards at 10 minutes don't know if this is good, this is at a relaxed pace.

I remember finding this out when I was younger, sometimes I totally forgot why I did it, but then I always remember or come back after a while. Whenever you feel like you are just really unhealthy or terrible for any reason, you can literally just swim, and suddenly you are like an elite athlete. It's like it rejuvenates and also cleanses you in ways that literally nothing else can. I think swimming is underrated. The 'best eyesight' is attributed to a tribe that regularly swims and uses their eyes under water to swim and catch fish, makes sense. Especially once you are used to the cold, it's like this feeling of being a reptilian.

well I used to be in the navy and loved swimming. I was like 250 lbs. back then in the navy. Stuff has happened and I've gained a lot of weight over the last 10 years. I ruptured a disc in my back a couple years ago. The doc didn't want to do surgery on me and ended up doing a lot of rehab. Regular rehab didn't help that much so he had me start aquatic therapy. That finally got my pain under control and stays tolerable for the most part. I noticed back in November that I had gained about 50 lbs. since I hurt my back which put me up to 410. so I started to work out at a gym because no pools were open at the time cause of covid. I lost 25 lbs that month but I guess between working out and my physical job, I ended up hurting my back a bit again. Could barely walk again for a week or so. So I stopped going to the gym after that. A pool has opened back up and started a year membership yesterday. I'm leaving to head there right now and start day 1 again lol. My goal is 250 and I'm at 382 right now. Its going to feel so great getting to swim again. I've watched 2 or 3 of your videos now and I'm pumped to get started now. So i guess ill watch more of your videos after I get back.

I feel great after a swim, both physically and mentally. Since learning to swim I’ve gone on to do three Ironman races (got another booked for next year!) and around 25 other Triathlons. I used to swim a lot as a kid. I never considered it to be an option for exercise, though. I tried getting into swimming for health in college, but something wasn't right at the time. Recently, however, I thought about using my local Y's pool and tried to get back into swimming for exercise after failing to keep up with weights. I had also tried walking, but none of these exercises made me feel good after. When I finished some laps in the pool for about 40 minutes, I felt very happy. And I am now eager to go back to the pool this evening. I am hoping this is something I can keep up with!

I did not come from a competitive swim background but I feel I’m a decent swimmer. Training for triathlons has made me focus on swimming more. I almost always come out of the swimming session feeling at peace and more relaxed than cycling, running, or strength training. My only problem is I lose track of what lap I’m on because I just get into my zone which I end up swimming extra laps.
@edwardclayton1308
@edwardclayton1308 4 года назад
Not only do I count the lengths I am doing I also count the number of strokes per length. I never lose track because in the pool the mind is clear and can focus on the task. It helps with pacing to count, as well as stroke efficiency. Counting stokes really helps become a better swimmer. I set myself tasks.. like doing 50m breastroke in 20 strokes instead of 21, while not losing speed. After a few weeks or months, 20 strokes becomes the new norm and you can set a new target..

Buddy, get yourself an Ironman waterproof watch that has the 30 lap stopwatch function and as you finish each lap, before pushing off, tap that lap button and you get yourself the lap count. I do it myself, though I try to stay focused to keep the lap count mentally. It's part of the exercise. The watch is just the backup and a time keeper.

After I swim my 1 km routine I feel that I did something good to my all faithful body. My torax and arms muscles are noticeably inflated. Also, it seems to me that my body got more "compact" all around. I mean, I haven't checked my weight yet, and I don't think I shed weight so far, but it does look like there is less "space" or "jello" between the skin and the muscles. A personal benefit is helping me to get more conscious about my posture strengthening my neck's muscles and helping to straighten my cervical spine. This is very important to me. I started swimming two months ago or so. I'm 62 now. Last time I did it regularly I was 29. I took me long to return, but I'm glad I did. Thank you for your channel. It's really inspiring, enlightening and motivational. All the best!
