Imagine that in a real life race the entire grid would be waiting with the tire change till the last few laps (like Albon in Aus 2022) and then an incident would happen in pits that would close pitlane. I wonder if race control would red flag or just disqualify all these drivers.
The teams will then just come into the pit lane and take the penalty. Why? Because the penalty for entering the pit lane while it is closed is a 10s stop-and-go penalty, or 30s added after the race, which is much preferable to being disqualified.
@@DaHitch could be, but I can imagine that a incident that causes a closed pitlane has a high risk of completely blocking the pitlane. It would not be the first time in racing that the pitlane would be blocked. I can't come up with a good example though.
@@joostinatortje If it's physically impossible to enter the pit lane, then I'd assume it would be luck of the draw. Race continues? (under yellow flags/VSC) anyone who didn't change tyres will be DSQ'ed. (Abu Dhabi 2021 set the precedent that the race distance will not be reduced to deal with regulatory issues) If the SC comes out on the last lap/penultimate lap and the field starts the last lap behind SC the race will finish behind SC and the result will be the same as above. Or the race is red flagged with one lap to go, presumably everyone stops on the grid rather than the in pit lane, under current rules everyone changes tyres, and there's a one lap sprint to the end.
DNF > DSQ = DNS. When you DNF they look at how many laps/kilometers you completed before retiring. When you DSQ, your race progress is invalidated and when you DNS you didn't even have any race progress in the first place.
mate ill tell you what happened there charles was in the pits when you blocked the pit lane , he sat there cuz ferrari pit crew didnt bring the tyre and when you got disqualified he completed those laps and won LMAO
You got disqualifyed in lap 7 meanwhile the rest of the drivers got disqualifyed in lap 13 so i think that could be the reason you had been more time on track but doing less laps so It is supossed you are last
2:22 hamilton getting out of leclerc car Also not everyone was DSQ, leclerc didnt get DSQ look at the top left corner Edit: thanks for 36 likes Edit no.2: thanks for the 56 likes
I had a classic spec race on F1 2020 when Kaufmann's retirement caused an SC, but the delta timer glitched and everyone was DSQd. Kaufmann ended up winning because of his DNF. "Interesting tactics, I would say"
I tried this on a much less painful method. Using Plitch, put all AI's tyre grip to 0, lock their cars to 1st gear only, and only crash into the only cars that survives the onsalught. Also: People that DNF has higher placings than DSQ's. Bear that in mind in Baku when "Mayer forced Jackson out of the race".
