Yet, I murdered Astarion in my sleep and both Shart and Minthara are like, you're a rabid dog that has to be put down. Even my hireling attacked me, so had to put them down.
I want to do an evil playthrough but I just can't bring myself to keep her indoctrinated. It's always such a relief to break her out of Shar's brainwashing.
There's even a more evil route. Convince Shadowheart not to proceed, then in act 3, you betray her and surrender her to Viconia in exchange of their support in the final fight, you also betray the Nightsong and surrender her to Lorrakan in exchange of his support in the final fight. They both get screwed and you gain two powerful allies.
@erikburzinski8248 I disagree. I love him as a character, but his ascended self is the worst version of him to me. By ascending, he loses his charm and becomes that which he complained about in the beginning.
@@Queenie97 he complains about the gods doing nothing when it is within there power as for gale he does not have the ablity to act because hes the god of ambition. For example he cant save karlach because her ambition is to live and saving her would remove that ambition. He can however deal with the devil because his ambition is to get the crown and to deal with him he gave him the possablity of acheveing his ambition.
@erikburzinski8248 I understand, but it just makes Gale into a massive enabler. I get it. It makes sense that he becomes the God of ambition due to his own lofty ones, but imo it depletes his character instead of strengthening him.
Shadowheart is such a hypocrite. If DU kills isobelle for Bhaal, it's all "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?! THINK OF ALL THE INNOCENT PEOPLE YOU MURDERED!". If Shart does it, it's a-okay because Shar says so.
@@westenevShadowheart is a religious fundamentalist so things done for Shar are good, things for done for other deities are bad. Just like real life fundamentalists who think their religion is betterer than other religions, even when the religions are similar to their own.
I heard once that Shadoeheart won't kill the Night Song if you allow her to make the choice herself... What the guy I heard it from failed to specify is that you have to have a big enough friendship score... I did learn it the hard way
i was "dating" or whatever shadowhaeart. and i allowed her to make her own choice (MAX) relationship level and that changed nothing. she fought me in the end, and died. so i reloaded and made her back the fuck down. at least that play through.. trying to do an evil playthrough as the DURGE but man its difficult from these choices, ya its a game. but still...
I hate when I try to pretend that I'm giving them a free will to do what the heart tells them to do... But then they do something I actually didn't want them to do and I need to reload.
I think you need to make Shadow Heart read the books talking about night song, and be a good guy along the game, I let her do what she wants and she saved Nightsong, I was proud :)@@Kraxt0n
*When the Durge kills Isobel and everyone in Last Light* Shadowheart: OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THIS YOU MONSTER! ALL THOSE INNOCENT PEOPLE DIED BECAUSE OF YOU! *When Shadowheart kills Nightsong and condemns everyone in Last Light to death* Shadowheart: UwU Opsies, anyway, Lady Shar is happy and I got a haircut
It's funny how to murder Druids and Tieflings in Act 1 costs you 3 to 4 companions, but when Shadowheart does something equally as evil the same companions are all just like "well, that's pretty evil but what ever"
Empowering Shar is basically the most evil thing you can do in-setting. Besides, last light inn is, if you did not slaughter them in the druid grove, full of the same innocents and children.
Wow all the candles going out at Last Light, the strings, and the knocking was genuinely unnerving. Not to be all "the cinnamon topography!" but this game is so beautifully directed and presented it still manages to amaze me.
Shartage.. Shatague.. Sharty.. Shart the bed.. New dialog: " hi I'm sharty, my favorite color is black, my favorite hobbies include murder of helpless enemies.. don't you like my new hairdo ? "
Thank you for sharing this bc I’ll never experience this in any of my walkthroughs. Even watching this was difficult for me,lol. I had to stop at Isobel part…I’m hopeless☹️
Thank you for watching! and I know it was super hard to watch, someone else in the coments said the Last Light Inn cutscene is like a horror movie, and I agree
@@namamora1190 she did. She gave to her daughter the gift of immortality and the strength she needed to resist the torture and she sent Isobel which gave her even more strength then ever. And she sent a Shar's follower who was actually a selunite. Remember that most of Shadowheart's powers are based on light magic. If you kill Dame Aylin Isobel's shield will fade away for Selune will be affected by her daughter's death, meaning she loved her child.
@marian1000brb not to mention Selune can only do so much since God's have a limit of what they can do. Plus Aylin was literally in Shar's house, not like she could just beat down the door to save her where Shar is at her strongest.
Or for the characters to give an ultimatum: Shadowheart or Karlach, Wyll and Halsin leave and the character has to decide who to keep - assuming those are the ones not on board with that. What Shart did here was on the level of killing the whole grove, if not worse...
I rolled a good persuasion and got her to not kill the Nightsong because Shar sounded shady to me. Plus the Nightsong turns out to be a divine being that wants to kill Ketheric so, and is girlfriends with Isobel. I’m happy with my choice.
Spoilers: After this, in act 3 when Shar tells her to sacrifice her parents you can tell her “Do what you think is right” She replies with “Do what’s right… I think I lost sight of that some time ago. Better to serve blindly.” It’s really is tragic.
it’s nice to find a source of media that gives you characters with wants, and the consequence of appeasing them and giving them exactly what they want and not what they need, is the worst scenario.
To be fair, the whole shadow-cursed section is one big horror movie. Personally, I find episode with Chop even more disturbing (final area beneath Moonrise towers).
I cant make her DJ to be honest, so thank you for showing what could happen in different circumstances! As much as i try to give free will to companions, i dont think its "right" for Shadowheart to be Shar's follower. Her fate was taken from her and she was literally brainwashed. I dont think she should be a selunite either. Gods are jerks tbh
Thank you for watching! I usually let her decide what she does, but she has never chosen to kill Nightsong on her own, and I just wanted to see dark Shdaowheart. I do agree with you about it not feeling right for her to be Shar's follower though
@beansandbaldursgate Yeah. I mean, it would be different if she chose to be a follower herself, but I feel like it's not right when someone doesn't see the full picture before choosing. Also, I've seen that she can choose to kill Nightsong herself if you don't get her "flashback" scene
Thank you for doing Shar's work of posting this. Now I know what I won't miss. No offense to you, it just pains me to see my shadowcutie be more enthralled by her cruel goddess.
First time through I was too pissed at Shadowheart to let her back out of her mission. I got turned around and lost a few times trying to find the orbs. Fought Yurgir the hard way since I didn't know you could convince him to defeat himself. Swapped my rogue gear with her so she could do the stealth trial herself. I think she had too heavy proficiency items for me wear her stuff while I waited. I was forgoing clothes anyway and I forgot I put my panties in Astarion's inventory as a goof. So I was just standing there awkwardly holding her stuff butt naked in the middle of a freezing temple. She still gave me attitude the whole way through despite having high approval. So yeah, Last light was wiped off the map because my patience was none existent then. I didn't know that would happen but I went with it and played evil the rest of the way. Worked out pretty well since I was Durge anyway. I got to be the Slayer and everyone was mad at Shadowheart instead of me.
@@Atitanshifterr I believe so, I think those two quests are the ones that determines what happens to the shadow cursed lands, so if you complete Halsin's first and get the quest "kill Ketheric Thorm," that's when you should go to finish Shadowhearts quest! edit: typo
@@beansandvibesYou can actually do Halsin's quest any time during act 2. On my first play-through I did it after defeating Ketheric and after recruiting Jaheira and literally did his whole quest with both Jaheira and Shar's Chosen in my party.
Saw this cutscene one time because I was doing the classic Selune-cleric-Shadowheart-romance and I made the mistake of choosing a Selunite dialogue option when trying to persuade her not to kill Aylin. Reloaded immediately after.
Very interesting, I just did this as Shadowheart Origin (in my opinion, without her beliefs challenged by a custom Tav, Shadowheart is too entrenched in Shar's cult to fight her way out herself - the other companions never really bring it up or try to talk sense into you), and the companions did not express these opinions to me as the main character. I really expected Karlach, Wyll, and Halsin to have something to say about it, but nothing. I guess they didn't want you to feel too badly about your choice if you're not just a companion?
Thanks for sharing your experience! It's definitely intriguing how different choices and character backgrounds can lead to varied interactions in the game. I agree, playing as Shadowheart Origin adds a unique perspective, and it would have been interesting to see more of the companions challenging her beliefs. It seems like the game developers wanted to give players freedom in their role-playing without too much pressure from the companions. Did you find that the companions' silence felt particularly impactful or just missed opportunities for deeper dialogue?
@beansandvibes it felt like missed opportunity. The only companion who said anything about my Shar worship was Astarion, when Shadowhearr first told him. And all he said was he didn't care. And once you decide to tell anyone the whole camp knows (which I disagreed with - she shared a secret with her romantic partner, not intending it to be common knowledge, but in hindsight perhaps that was too much intricacy to hope for). But after that, nothing. And barely even any Disapproval when I would choose [CLERIC OF SHAR] or [EVIL CLERIC] dialogue options. My standing with them was quite high by that time. So I interpreted that as Shadowheart believing they would support her decision to fulfill her destiny. But then even afterwards, they just keep trucking along. I think only one of them even Disapproved of the act of using the Spear of Night (and it wasn't a big drop). So, yeah, it really felt like the companions had no challenge to her devotion to Shar as an Origin Story run.
all the companion cutscenes lol 😂 I tried to get everyone's reaction since it was something so huge. Shart did a genocide and then was like, how's my hair looking? like, girl 😐
my relationship with Shadowheart is always high, and she usually decides not to kill Nightsong, but since I had never seen it, my curiousity just got to me :o this choice is def fit for an evil run
@@beansandvibes I wouldn't say I was gonna do an evil run. I am gonna answer with the first thing that pops into my mind. Which coincidentally aligns with a more evil run. But I would say more sarcastic and witty than evil lol
im thinking of doing an evil Aasimar playthrough after i finish my good run and I was wondering what killing the Nightsong would end up doing The part i'm dreading tho is killing Scratch
if DJ shart's hair style is closer to shar's image why does she still change it to that style when you dont kill the nightsong...? i get she also dyes it as well but its still the same style
she mentions she herself wanted to change it, but also said its for Shar. she just feels the need to explain everything she does is for the will of Shar. Typically zealot behavior.
Evil or not, but letting "Nightsong" go is not all that sweet and cosy as some claim it to be. This being - very powerful, mind you - is clearly mentally unstable. The way she kills both general and that pompous wizard is an obvious sign of that. Some may argue that Isobel will be able to fix her, eventually, but the risks are still rather high. I wonder what would trully neutral character do. Still, liberating SH from Shar's indocrination is a right thing to do.
I don't think the point of the game is to be neutral; this is a fantasy world where being nice to everyone does not pay off, it gets you killed. It's to show you all the ways we are complex beings and can change for good from bad and other way around. The game does not judge, it is up to the player and no amount of youtube comments will change this.
Szczerze to spodziewałam się zupełnie innych questów. Jestem zaskoczona takim wyborem, ja podzielam zdanie jedynie condo wyścigow konnych, ale to tylko dlatego, ze ogólnie nie lubię wyścigów jako takich.
Shar is antithetical to everything Lae'Zel stands for, particularly if she sees through Vlaakith's deception. Shar is an ultra-evil dishonest goddess that wants to destroy all life, consuming even her followers on a regular basis.
Okay can someone explain to me WHY Isobel's magic fails if the nightsong dies? Is it because she secretly gets her power from Aylin and not Selune and she doesn't know? Is Selune just pissed? I just-there's something in my brain that does not understand why her magic fails and everyone has to die if the nightsong dies.
One more reason not to kill her Nightsong: dies Shar: blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Are you done monologuing yet or should I tuck in with a bucket of popcorn?
hey sorry for replying late :( I was trying to figure out what amour this is but I can't remember and I've already deleted my save (playing honor mode) but I remember that the dye I used on the amour was light blue. if I find it in the future, I will let you know what it is!
So basically what i've learned is that we became the leader EVEN AS DURGE because these people can't make good decisions for themselves without momma tav nearby, does ANY of them even make it to act 2 alive? 🤦♂️ Gale dies first, lae'zel ironically being the strongest fighter on the team has so many opportunities to die in act 1, Wyll probably dies cause theres no way hes killing Karlach, Astarion dies and becomes a zombie i've gone on long enough, point being is "You need a Guardian" is what they all heard and it was true 😂
Jaheira is at the Last Night Inn when it falls so she falls too unless you can save her. I'm not sure you can by the time I got there everyone was dead and I went right after. If you don't fix Karlach before it falls you won't be able to. Everyone at the Inn dies. I got mad at Shadowheart and she basically said I didn't try hard enough to stop her. I so wanted the option to kick her out but you can't. I did the persuasion options and failed them so she killed Nightsong. Wanted to see what happens. Not doing that again unless I want to do an evil play through.
Not this specific way but if you let Last Light Fall before going to Shadowfell, you can recruit Jaheira to your camp after the fall and then she will join your party after Ketheric is defeated.
That moment is foreSHADOWing (heh) something in Act III. You'll find out more about that person after gaining full access to the House of Grief in Baldur's Gate (that should be enough to look up the answer easily if you want to but without directly spoiling it here)
I wish you could turn halsin evil, so you don't lose him, when you play evil from the start. Like turn him into a shadow druid. I would love to play an evil playthrough but I hate losing characters
It would totally make sense in Act 3 when you bring him to Baldur's Gate. He gets really angry at all the injustice and hates the city.... it would be an interesting choice for him to become jaded toward humanity and essentially become what Kagha was.
Agreed. Theres a lot more variety in good companions than evil. Just like you can redeem the evil ones, it would be cool to be able to corrupt the good ones
I'm actually surprised by Lae'zel's reaction to Shart unaliving Nightsong. She looked... shocked, even though she was raised in the place where if you're weak - you are no better than dead. And hearing her say, that Shart "sunk so low"... well, something had changed Or did you help our one and only favorite Githyanki chose the resistance against the The Lich Queen? P.S. Someday I will force my hand to create an evil playthrough through and through... someday, but for now I will stick to my Tiefling-Druid playthrough and play "fetch" with Scratch and scratch the owlbear
I've got this cute scene before and I didn't even know this could happen. And it's way more terrifying also this counts as killing isobell if you're doing dark urge
