Welcome to the official RU-vid channel of Quitting Together, a place dedicated to those of us on a journey to recovery, especially from marijuana addiction.
This channel is not about demonizing marijuana; in fact, I acknowledge and support the right to choose. Marijuana can have positive impacts, as it did in my life for a long time. But, like many, I reached a point where it started to take more than it gave. If you find yourself in a similar situation, where marijuana has begun to overshadow other aspects of your life, I invite you to join me on this path to recovery.
Here, you'll find content that tracks my personal journey from day one of sobriety. This channel aims to provide a supportive community for those who are looking to break free from what is often considered a "non-addictive" substance, yet find it challenging to let go of. Each video is a step in the ongoing process of overcoming addiction and rediscovering the joys of a life not dependent on marijuana.
Whether you're newly sober, considering sobriety, or have been on this path for a while, there's something here for you. I share not only my experiences and challenges but also invite guests to discuss various aspects of addiction, recovery, and mental health. From professional insights to personal stories, each video is an opportunity to learn, grow, and find support.
Subscribe and never miss a video. Hit the bell (🔔) for notifications on new uploads as we embark on this journey together. This is a safe space for healing, learning, and growing. Let's navigate the path of recovery as a united community.

I just quit after smoking for twenty two years. Couple weeks clean. I used to feel safe in the 24/7 haze, but now I’m eager to be high off just life.

My issue is I don't really have any friends, let alone sober friends and I just don't have anyone to go out and spend time with who doesn't smoke. If I did, it would greatly help me stay sober. It's hard to meet people now days.

One of my challenges will be that my wife uses cannabis as her only salvation for some bad autoimmune issues (she cannot eat food and has a stomach pacemaker. Gastroparesis, POTS, etc. ). So I cannot empty my house of cannabis and can never get too far away with it. I know when I quit booze, it was key not to have any in the house. Just whining here. My wife is respectful and would happily consume on the down low, so for me it’s not so much that she’d be using it. It’s that I know we have it in the house. Still trying to gear up for a break…..
@Quittingtogether
@Quittingtogether 3 месяца назад
I totally get that! But as someone who has a lot of those same issues and a pacemaker as well, it’s probably not the best thing for her either. Especially to smoke it. What has she said when you’ve brought this up to her?

I smoked for 11 years everyday, towards the end of my journey multiple joints a day, wake n baked for about 10 of those years, ive been clean for a little over 30 days now and its only because of a job I secured I honestly dont feel any different I had no withdrawals but I also smoked recreationally I didn't use it to escape life or to sleep better I just liked being high, Id smoked again but this is the most money ive made in my entire career and its too good to pass up I feel like its a personality thing at the end of the day my weight has stayed the same my daily life hasnt changed (besides working more) I never saw this as a drug or an addiction to begin with I might possibly be the weird one here reading others comments but if you can change your mindset and quit for a good reason I believe you can do it just believe in yourself and speak what you want to do into existence and give yourself positive affirmations I didnt do any of this but the point Im trying to make is that you can do whatever you set your mind to (:

Totally but many people do abuse it. We could use the argument you made to justify using opiates as well. But some things are just too easily abused. The weed today doesn’t come straight from a plant with no altercations. We have genetically modified it to make it stronger and stronger. I don’t think anyone would argue against that.

It really depends on the person. Did I say two months? Usually two weeks is the worst of it but you can go through not being able to sleep, etc. for a long time because your body is so used to using weed for that.

That’s a really good thought. I don’t have any sort of other community group, but I’m happy to create one. I’ve never created a Reddit group, but maybe I’ll do that today! I like Rleaves, but they have a lot of strange rules and delete a lot of posts. I once said something similar to you and they deleted my post and said they only allow people to post that are serious about quitting. I was absolutely serious about quitting, I simply was scared to start. So instead, I made this channel.

@@Quittingtogether if you do decide to make one, I know I would definitely use it and think others would too! I honestly struggle to get past the 1 month 2 month mark, purely because my body can't cope with the sweats at night and i find myself getting angry when I'm not consuming it. Example; say I've gone a week plus without, one morning I'll be completely fine & the next I will wake up angry chuck a fit for no reason and feel angry at myself. I've smoked weed for the past 13 years, my only ever time managing to quit was 6 month's and I struggle to do so now. Would you suggest anything in replacement such as melatonin? I've been considering quitting and taking up melatonin myself. I already workout and take whey powder. Just starting to get sick of wasting $650 a month on weed, and my eyes looking so dark ita often left me starting to leave the house last minute at night to get stuff from the shops because i think people are going to stare at me and notice.
@Quittingtogether

100% man! I’m exactly the same way. Melatonin is absolutely great and the reality is you just have to stick with it for a little while in order to enjoy the benefits, but I promise it will be worth it! Exactly like you animated two months usually and by six months, I usually fall off. Keep checking back in and check out some of my other videos! I really appreciate you commenting and I’m really really proud of you for wanting to make this decision
