As much as this was meant to mock the idea of a texture rando, I feel like it also proved why people want one so much. Clearly it needs to be extremely limited - probably so much so that it would never be worth someone’s time to actually make a useable version - but still, a lot of extremely cool stuff coincidentally happened.
I'd say just having an option to prevent the UI from getting messed up is all that's really needed. Everything else that could mess with you is kind of the point.
As someone who's watched and corrupted games for years, texture and sound swaps were always my favorite. Having a true rando where Link screams with each footstep, the sky has eyes, and Link swings a questionably meaty sword would be amazing.
From the creepy textures, to Dampe's timer being 666, the glitching out at Barinade, to whatever happened to the great fairy, this can totally make a believable creepypasta.
When ZFG watched the intro cutscene Gannon looked like he let a little girl put makeup on him to humor the girl. New head cannon for me as to why he was chasing Zelda. Gannon let Princess Zelda put makeup on him to humor her. However when he saw how bad she made him look he decided to chase her down to lecture her about it.
been a huge fan for many years. i haven’t been watching the vods or streams as much this year but this got me back into oot. this game withholds the same sandbox energy as melee and i love that and love zfgs voice! very relaxing
surprisingly a lot of german in this one. Honestly stuff like randomizing the heart icon could work well enough. Maybe only specific walls and textres like clothing and not all textures would also work really well i think
A scale modifier rando would be fun. Just imagine giant cuckoos, miniature bosses, mini/giant NPCs, etc. Also a 3d mesh rando would be insane if possible. If you've seen the wolf/humanoid swap glitch in Twilight Princess, you know what I'm talking about.
Honestly this *should* be a thing, though not nearly to this extent. Even something as simple(well, as simple as programming a randomizer can be, which is decidedly not very simple lol) as randomizing the textures used by the terrain(and walls, etc) as well as a "randomize all texture hues" option would make for a fun time.
No problem my guy. Lemme tell you how to game the ad system. When that happens just leave the video for another, come back as soon as the ad loads, repeat until 5 second skippable ads or no ad at all. Takes 5-10 tries sometimes but it always works after enough tries and is faster than watching both. Then, skip to just a few seconds before the end, turn on loop, end ad won't play bc yt thinks you just watched one, and video will have no midroll ads bc it thinks you've already watched the whole video in this session. you now have an ad free watch experience, with some fussing. Worth it for long videos.
i feel like theres a point where texture, text and audio rando can be the only things that can make even the most seasoned runner slow down even slightly at their game
Fricking eyebox Kokiri forest broke me so hard I thought I was going to pass out from laughing. I could not breathe. I'm still sniffling from it. Why is stupid shit like this that breaks me? lol
Sprite randomizer works very well on 2D games but in a 3-D space there are obvious problems. Course I wouldn’t mind having options just to let dumb stuff play out, I always thought icons being randomized was hilarious. In Zelda one sometimes the meat would be the sword!
Will it ever be possible to have a ROM hack or randomizer that has Twitch chat integration? I could only imagine the chaos of having chat control how, what, and where things spawn while ZFG's trying to play. I'm not sure how it would work realistically but I feel like that would be great content
Where is the MQ debug rom from? Because the MQ on GC forces 60hz, and you're required to have a TV that supports PAL-60 in order to use it (source: I have it, and it says "60Hz ONLY" on the back of the cover). EDIT: The one I have is the one that came with Wind Waker
This but minus some of the more broken stuff would be so cool. Like categorizing textures so that wall textures pull from a list of bricks or rock walls, for example. I even thought medallion hearts looked good. Would probably take a lot of work but not like that's stopped OoT modding before.
