What do you about this: use Finas and minox for a year, then slowly quit minoxidil and keep using finasteride, do you think minox it's going to help the growing phase and then finasteride help to keep that hair? or I'm going to loose what minox helps to grown
In that case, you should tape down the use of it and restart it when it's possible again. Also, make sure that you are addressing all the underlying reasons that are causing hair loss
Did you stop it permanently now or you just took a break for a while? I have barely started minoxidil (1 month or so) but I can't imagine myself using it for the rest of my life. I'm 20 now
@@darksoul9227 stopped after a month, did not notice a shed right away, what I noticed was that new hairs continued sprouting even after two months after discontinuation but I had also started taking finasteride at the same time that I started minoxidil so I don't know if the new hairs were due to finasteride or minoxidil since from what I have read it takes a while to lose minoxidil gains, they don't just fall off right the next day. Anyway at the third or fourth month mark I stopped finasteride and tried to start dutasteride (big mistake), at this point I noticed a big shed and after two months on dutasteride I went back to finasteride because my hair was falling like crazy with no sigs of regrowth at all, not even a single new baby hair. So now after 3 months back on finasteride I noticed some regrowth but my hair is much thinner than it was the first time I used finasteride, I am not on minoxidil now and don't intend to use it again, I am waiting for finasteride to do all it can do before I decide anything else. What I took from all this is that you should only start minoxidil if you really intend to keep it up and not just as a result of a desperate decision to keep your hair, and that dutasteride does not seem to work for everyone nor does wonders to the hair like many online foruns say, I guess it really is targeted for people with really high testosterone levels, mine are not that high. If finasteride is showing results to you then don't swith to dutasteride because it may be a really bad decision. (sorry for the long ramble)
21 M here. Thinking about beginning minoxidl soon. If I still have a lot of hair still should I use once or twice a day? Hairline has started to recede and bald spot is slowlyyy coming along. Also how long would I have to use minoxidl until I can slowly come off of it to stop hair loss

Minoxidil may make things worse if there are scalp problems. If your hair loss is caused by male alopecia then blocking dht can be enough to stop progression and fill in gaps (as it did for me in 2010)

what if I will use minoxidil and when I get result I'll start to use finasteride. After awhile of both I will get start to slowly stop using minoxidil. For example 3 months one daily apply, then in 3 month 3 times a week applying and then apply it one a week. What do you think will it work with finasteride? They reported they lost all hair that were grown by minoxidil while using finastiride. My guess it needs to some time to overlap minoxidil by finastiride to make it work. It says finasteride starts works in 3-4 months so I just proposed this is the time that had been needed to prepare the skin and hair for quiting minoxidil. Just wanted to make sure I am going to try scheme like this.

Hey Bharati, it's not easy to write it in one sentence as it depends on several factors. If your hair loss has been caused by nutrion deficencies or TE then yes minoxidil is fine. If not then you need to be more careful

@@jhj2347 Yes, correct. For most guys problem is that they don't address all the hair loss factors or they just focus on dht and in that case stopping with minoxidil will cause hair loss. But when everything is addressed and hair have grown out from minoxidil then they won't fall out if one stops with growth stimulation
Depends, if hair have become depended on minoxidil then there can more hair loss if you stop with it. In that case it would be better to tap down of applications over time

It's rare that stopping with minoxidil for 1-week causes shedding. Usually, it happens if one stops with applications past 20 days. That being said you are still in early stage of minoxidil application and in that case it may make follicles more depended on it then later stages
Hey Ajay, depends stage of hair cycle when one stop with minoxidil and if there are other underlying causes besides dht. In general it's possible to stop with minoxidil and continue with finasteride but it depends on context, if done wrong hair will shed

Yes, minoxidil can cause reactions on the scalp even if you don't apply it there. It sounds like minoxidil triggered TE in that case hair can grow back

My hair is still shedding after 3.5 months using minox, should it be shedding even where I am not applying it? The hair all over my head seems to be thinning and shedding, the hair that is shedding has small roots and is white coloured near the root. Do you have any advice?

@@SomebodyAlex because i have never applied minoxodil to the very very back of my head but it seems to be thinning, after 3 months and a week or so i’ve seen no results and the roots of my hair are white, my hair before was thick at the back on top, on top i started to apply and started to shed which i knew would happen, but i never applied it to the back and side and it’s still thinning and i haven’t seen any regrowth or sign of growth
