My books and videos are all grounded in what I actually do, I make sure you can see the evidence. For example if I suggest sowing carrots in November, take a look at my monthly tours to see them growing and my harvest videos for May to see the actual results. I'm not just about regurgitaing information from the backs of seed packets!
Just because all my resources are 'free of charge', to everyone, doesn't mean they aren't good quality. My objective is to make sure that there's no need to be rich to get access to great gardening information. I do however have a lot of costs to cover and my time is valuable to me, so please consider supporting me at www.buymeacoffee.com/steveric...

Not true Steve about nobody taking notes. Almost every word coming out your mouth is a note for me. This is why I absolutely love your sow and grow videos. Yes, i do pause to make notes 😂 I also check your guide links notes in case anything extra there you didn't mention. But i find your video explanations very nice and detailed. Just exactly what i need to know. I started following you early this year and I want to say it worked. For the first time it did. I even had cucumbers indoor early spring test you did. And now everybody wow s how i have so much awesome lettuce and other veggies in end of November. I had peas as early as 15th of April by following your advice. You are the reason why my family said we need more of it and we turned some of our front lawn into garden. Now i have 10 new "empty" beds sitting ready to start new year. My goal is to follow you closely with small batches and by the end of the year build up my growing timeline adjusted to my zone 7 USA. Your explanations matters, especially timing. It is just note after note for me. I even mark future month with notes if you mention ahead. I loved beet roots sample how you showed May 5th harvest result from sowing. Would love to see more in your videos in future. Thank you for your hard work!!❤

Thanks for the lovely feedback, judging how much time to spend adding extra clips to the videos is hard for me. I only have 3 hours a week for videos and these already take a long time to put together, plus I'm not very good at keeping an easy to find library of clips, since I only use my iphone for all video shooting and editing : All the best - Steve

I'm not keen on mind altering drugs, so I just focus on getting plenty of light in my eyes, but then I'm lucky to live in a place where that's possible, so that's a great tip : All the best - Steve

I’ve taken the plunge and bought a grow light. I normally get my chilli’s started in January, but now I’m going to give December a try. Thanks, Steve.

Great, provided you can keep them warm you should have them nice and early. I’d recommend not doing too many early though because they grow pretty big!

Thank you Steve , WOW your gardens are productive , amazing This year I planted cobra climbing beans in the unheated poly tunnel 1st September (when the beds cleared from summer crops) we got quite an impressive little crop of green beans harvested a few days ago
@SteveRichards
@SteveRichards 7 месяцев назад
That's impressive, I've tried it myself without much luck in previous years, but this year was an exceptionally kind autumn for growing beans. Not so productive in winter, we are lucky if we pick £80 worth of produce a week in winter, so that's a 1/3 of the summer harvests, but it's still worthwhile : All the best - Steve

Another brilliant video. I also try to take notes as it’s a good way to remember, also I’m not good with the internet. I wish I had a book by you in front of me! Thanks

My ebook works really well on phones and tablets, but I don’t have time to write a paper book and it would depress me that it would be out of date so quickly and then I’d have to keep publishing new books every year, with almost nothing new in them just to keep them up to date : all the best - Steve

Lettuce how many per adult and how often do you plant, decided 6 per person every 4 weeks from late winter New Zealand last week of July or first week of August, don't sow November if too hot, start again in late December until March. The pick as they grow do that until the lettuce really start to grow, then cut them off, will quite often get 1 or up to 3 cuts before they go to seed.
@SteveRichards
@SteveRichards 7 месяцев назад
That would be nowhere near enough for us, but we eat two big boxes of salad a day, not all lettuce of course. But it's not such an easy calculation as growth rates are very different depending on the time of year. I've never really come up with a formula I'm afraid but right now I have about 200 lettuces growing and they need to last me 12 weeks, I'm hoping that I have too many and so hopefully about 80 of them will be available for continuous harvest from March onwards.

@@SteveRichards For us two, have 40 plus lettuce growing, planted the last dozen 10 days ago, had a poor germination with the first lot accidentally sowed two types with old seed, then sowed more 2 weeks later, we eat at this time of the year 3 different cauliflower, 2 different cabbage and 1 type of broccoli, with the brassicas work on 1 plant per person per week of either a cabbage, cauliflowe and broccoli, plus have lots of spinach and chard, first carrots and potatoes are ready as well. Have just sown the autumn brassicas and the slowly cabbages. Won't sow another lot for 6 weeks. Our problem is the autumn can be mild or harsh the first frost could be mid March, but has been later.
@SteveRichards

We had a very mild autumn too, that sent spinach and Asian greens straight to seed. December this year is very cold

Yeah, to be honest I’m not often wearing that big coat or long sleeves. I don’t spend the day sitting around making videos in a cold polytunnel. I’m cycling, hiking, gardening, swimming, doing yoga etc and shorts are the best compromise for all those activities and they feel great and I never overheat. They’re called shorts where I come from : all the best - Steve
