I love a good fabric sale and 20% off sitewide is pretty fantastic. Plus I get to stack and extra 10% off as a Minerva Brand Ambassador. I am trying to sew down my fabric stash some, so I did not go crazy, though it was tempting. I love beautiful fabric, but I have a lot that I need to sew! I do have a lot of French Terry that needs sewing and I found that some of the ribbing I bought a few years ago is not the best for my sewing needs. I have some cotton tubular ribbing that has terrible recovery and usually results in a floppy band. The bamboo ribbing is so soft and lovely against the skin, but also tends to flop. I did find Minerva to be the best source for ribbing that works well for my needs and comes in so many colors. I purchased everything with my own money and have been buying Minerva Core Range Stretch Ribbing long before I became a Minerva Brand Ambassador.
I am excited to sew the Merchant and Mills Costermonger Bag pattern and use oilskin for the first time. First bag will be for Charlie's sister Laureen. I like that the bag can be carried as a tote or a backpack. I am pretty sure Laureen does not watch my sewing channel as she is my only sister in law and the surprise would be spoiled. It is a simple basic bag, but sometimes that is exactly what you need. I want to sew three more if I like it. They will be in a waxed canvas which I think would also be cool for a casual backpack.
