ENGELBERT'S FABULOUS COVER OF THIS SONG FROM THE MUSICAL 'A CHORUS LINE', WRITTEN BY MARVIN HAMLISCH AND EDWARD KLEBAN. ALSO RECORDED BY JOSH GROBAN AND SHIRLEY BASSEY. FROM MAGGISDEN.
I remember first hearing this song on a cruise. One of our group died unexpectedly on the first day of the cruise. The group and I were trying to make sense of it all. We were in one of the bars and one of the guys on the cruise heard what happened and he sang this song. The song comforted me and I said to myself, Ron kissed today goodbye. I will always remember this song and the kindness of strangers....
Listening to Engelbert sing this great song really makes me sad about how far music has fallen in America since those days. But, the good thing is, we can always bring it back by listening to great songs and singers like this. Timeless.
Your voice is so amazingly incredible. I have all of your music. I went to see you in Nashville when you were here last year. One of the best shows I have ever been to. Really would love to see you again. I've been listening to you since I was a kid (and I'm 63 now)! Love you Engelbert Humperdink!
No one does this song better than the original Englburt H.My former husband did fantastic replica of it especially on our wedding day Feb 14 1981 God rest his soul
621/17 - Today would be my late daughter's 59th birthday. I know she loved this song. I'm sending it to her wherever she is in Heaven. I miss you and love forever. Mom--
Just listened to over 10 versions of this song..............to me, Engelbert's is the best, even better than Johnny Mathis' version and that is really saying something as Johnny has always been a fave. Song needs a big passionate voice and Engelbert sure has that. Let's hear that big ending again!!!..........................
Such a beautiful voice it is difficult to put in words, because it is god given, you can not get any better. God bless you enge you still sound wonderful. Love you always❤❤❤ marti ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I don't need to tell any long time fan of this astonishing singer (have been since h.s., 1972), trying to come up with a top list of his songs is next to impossible. But I truly believe that his performance of this song will go down as one of his best. 🌹
Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Jack Jones, Perry Como, Paul Anka, Bobby Vinton, Neil Sedaka and Jose feliciano, are the legendary singers.
It’s Isabel , Enge. Remember Brighton. The book I gave you “Brighton Rock”. Miss your concerts. You really are the greatest. Your songs make me so emotional.
I can't believed why people put their thumbs down on this video. I give this video a thousand thumbs UP, To hear Engel's great ballad songs are gifts and pleasures.
Absolutely. From a professional point of view. Going from that perspective. Tone. Pitch. Power. Range. Hes an absolute perfect 10 across the board on all the scoring cards!
Tough call really...lots of amazing talent over the course of recording history...even just in the "pop" genre. Bobby Hatfield Neil Diamond Tom Jones John Denver Josh Groban Ronnie Milsap BJ Thomas Bing Crosby Andy Williams Gordon Lightfoot And so many others...but E.H. is truly amongst the greats!
Sweet enge, another one of my favorites.you sing this song with such feelings ,I can see it in your beautiful eyes.I wish you much, luck ,joy, love, and happiness in your life.god bless you always .love nanette xo xo xo xo xo
Englebert, Thank you for all the beautiful songs that have become imprinted in my mind with your voice....No one can belt them out the way you do.....a fan
This song along with many of his other hits, demonstrate exemplary vocal performances. The great Bob Babbitt played bass on After The Loving. I often wonder if he’s on this song too. It sure sounds like him.
my favorit singer for me the best voice of the world i came from belgium and i have a dancing in brussels where i play 50 percent music of engelbert thank you all
Mi remanso de toda la vida. La fuente de mi sanación. La mas grande voz que jamás podrá alguien igualar. Y la grabación de estudio mas imponente entre tantas canciones increíbles. Engelbert Humperdinck! What I did for Love!

I'm 73 yrs. young, 90% of my life was music, Frank IMO was the best, But I love the sound of Englebert, he has to be my 2nd choice. But, my, oh my, I can't believe the change from then til now ! My, he must have ate and drank a lot,.....so thin, and then balloted. IMO, his voice was a gift from GOD, just like so many greats, Oh, BTW, I believe his original name was Larry Dorsey, .....check me if I'm wrong.
Thank you, Sharon. I hear this beautiful recording often on a TV ad in Cincinnati. It sort of sticks in m mind and I find myself singing it to myself a lot. What a splendid voice
