Seeing such a young person trying to make their own way in life needs no apology to anyone, you clearly have goals in mind with your on going education and work ethics that will pay it's own benefits and shape who you are. Been watching your dads videos for several years. Stumbled across yours and glad I did. You remind me very much of daughter. Personality, common sense, a love of the outdoors, and a strong work ethic. You’ll do fine in life. Keep spending time with your dad (and mom) outdoors as time flies by all too fast. During our toughest portages, my daughter just smiles and says “making memories dad”. Keep making your memories.

When I stumbled on your father's channel a couple years ago it was clear to see that he was different than most. And what I mean by that is he has ambition, drive morals and ethics. I love the fact that you are your fathers daughter and are choosing to follow in his footsteps so to speak. I followed in my grandfathers to become a journeyman millwright so it is cool to watch and see where this takes you. Emie, social media can be and often is Brutal, even nasty and hateful. Remember this, most if not all of us have been watching your dad's channel and have the utmost respect for him in every way, courage, intelligence, fortitude, respect of nature, and above all his Self-Reliance. You do the same and blow through all the negative comments you may get from time to time. The Net is a jungle and if you want to walk in it you have to be able to take the good with the bad. I think it’s nice that you’re taking up some of the interest that your dad does so far as living in a cabin and having a place out in the woods to go and enjoy I think both of you will have a lot of fun exploring out in the wilderness. I think it’s very cool that Emily has decided to follow her Dad’s footsteps with doing a video series on her cabin renovation. I must say I’m very impressed her video presence. I had no inclination of how she would do, recording herself. As I watched I realized and thought for her only being 20, she does very well talking on camera for the first time herself! At the age of 20 this must of been tough, having the confidence to put herself out there. And talking on camera I’m sure is not easy starting out, she is doing a great job!! I hope she is successful with what she wants to do!! I also hope people are not to critical of her and try and give her a ton of unsolicited advice, as we all know everybody is an expert and feel they need to tell people how to do things🙄 I hope they just watch and enjoy her videos for what they are and let her do her thing. She already has a great teacher/support with her Dad, when she needs it. I have a feeling she will be very successful with this RU-vid channel and hopefully it will turn into her full time income needs...

The fact you’re learning as you go is very relatable because while it’s great to have experience in the trades like your dad is, not everyone has that background. It’s definitely a plus to have your dad for tips and tricks as you go along. I’m 53 and know no more than you do about renovating the cabin and other projects to come. One thing folks might like to know is the effort you’re putting into making the videos, audio, music etc must be at least as much if not more than the work you’re doing in the video itself.

I agree with you that painting the interior white will give it a much brighter open feel. We used to vacation on a resort in a cabin with nitty pine paneling from the 50’s. It was beautiful but made the small space darker. I love a cozy snuggle feel and that can be achieved with fabrics and accessories! You did a great job with the floor!

Hi Emily. Congratulations on your channel. I was a department supervisor in the paint department at a Home Depot here in the States for several years. You are correct about the white and the comments here about size appearances. With your floor color may I suggest several primary colors to work with. Any colors and shades of the Navy or Royal Blue families. Also with that shade of Grey in the floor you'll be surprised to fine that Hunter or Forest Greens will also work. I would suggest you have your HD make you a sample size paint of a piece of your floor (color matched and flat or matte finish) and then on the color mixture sticker you'll have a read out of the component colors in you floor. This will guide you in color selections in the future. Then also find some scrap lumber and paint several coats of the sample, at least 3, on it and it can become your guide when you are looking at fabrics and accessories for the cabin. As an aside my degrees are Art and Music so I'm a colors person. All the best!

I own a small cabin too. I like the white, open, airy and relaxing. Allows you to be very creative with the interior. The floor turned out great! It's your space kiddo, do whatever you want! Very nice mix of peaceful river nature images and music followed by the task of flooring, much like your dad’s channel, this combo works well, I think your channel will do well, especially if you keep it real, some mistakes which we all make, included for a visual lesson learned. I am sure if I had been spraying paint, I too would have sprayed upwind and got it blown in my face. That’s keeping it real vs a perfect edited version. Keep up the great content!

When you get the other box of flooring its a good idea to get a spare box so that if the floor gets damaged you can replace the damaged bit with an exact replacement. I learned that one the hard way. Good luck with your projects.
