Beetroot, Apple & Berry Smoothie - recipe from Everyday Cooking by Minimalist Baker - annaed.uk/aKr218

Peanut Butter Chocolate Balls Recipe - annaed.uk/aKju9P

Peaches & Amaretti Biscuit recipe - annaed.it/2tuwbwq (we had them with mascarpone and it was SO GOOD!)
SUPER EASY TOMATO PASTA SAUCE (serves 4):
A glug of olive oil
1 finely chopped red onion
4 minced garlic cloves
700-800g super sweet halved cherry tomatoes
1 TBSP red wine vinegar
1 TSP sugar (what time you have!)
Salt & pepper to season
Heat up the oil in a pan, then add the red onion and garlic and fry off until softened. Add in the cherry tomatoes, along with the vinegar, sugar and seasonings and cook until the tomatoes have broken down and made a sauce (20 minutes at least). Serve and ENJOY!

I’m so happy you addressed your meat consumption and also the fact it’s dramatically reduced your food bill as a lot of people have the assumption it’s more expensive. Is this what happens when you spend time with Lauren? 😏 I’ve been Vegan since January and Veggie for 8/9 years before that so this brings me a lot of joy to hear another person is making some changes!!

You are amazing, you have this great platform with half a million people watching and you are encouraging people to buy something small that will make a massive impact. I'm from Canada and recently found out that 57 million plastic straws are thrown out here every DAY like what the hell!!! my favorite vegan banana-less smoothie for you!! 1.5 oz red lettuce, 1 pear - chopped, 1/2 avocado, 1 tsp matcha, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1 cup vanilla almond milk, 1 cup ice. delicious!

I really agree with your approach to meat consumption and I'm thankful you felt comfortable enough to share it. I went from meat eater to pescatarian to vegan in the span of about two years. I have always been a proponent of adjusting one's lifestyle to just eat a little less meat, or maybe only eat meat when you go out or on certain days of the week. Vegetarianism and veganism can be really hard for a lot of people to commit to mentally but small changes, like cutting out meat a few times a week, make a big impact on health, the environment, and the lives of animals.

Loving this video, I was actually kinda missing this format again :) Super happy to see the peaches with amaretti, it's actually a traditional dish of my region (Piedmont, Italy) :) But the entire recipe is this: - Cut 5 peaches in half, leave the skin, and carve them a bit, in order to fit the filling; - Take what you carved from the peaches and add 30 grams of bitter cocoa, 40 grams of sugar, 2 egg whites and 20 grams of Amaretti (pre-blend the amaretti a bit, but don't make them in a powder consistency - you want to maintain the crunchyness. Adding them when you blended already the other ingredients is the best way ;) ); - Fill the peaches; - Then take the tin you will use in the owen and cover every surface with a thick layer of butter; - Put the peaches in the tin and add a small piece of butter on every peach; - Cook for about one hour at 160 degrees in the oven and voilà ;) Hope it's useful :) xoxo

For anyone that suffers from frequent UTI's - the thing that helped me most (instant relief) was drinking a heaped teaspoon of Tumeric spice with 250ml warm water, and then flushing with 2litres of water consistently throughout the day. This was a miracle worker! It took the bladder spasms away and pain subsided completely. I believe doctors say Tumeric is natures antibiotic and highly recommend :)

My husband and I now eat veggie Monday - Friday and then add in fish and meat at the weekend if we want it. We too were heavy meat eaters particularly red meat and just wanted a more environmentally sustainable diet, plus it’s made me a way more adventurous cook. We really don’t miss it but love the option of eating whatever we fancy come the weekend, we actually eat more fish than meat now which is a massive turn around for us. I feel like more and more people are aware of their meat consumption and also buying the best quality ethically treated meat which is such a good thing!

The vegetarian and vegan options sales have soared in a lot of countries throughout Europe over the last two years. A lot of people are so called ‘flexitarian’ now and it’s simply wonderful!

Good on you for cutting down on your meat consumption! Every bit makes a difference in my opinion. I've been without meat for over 4 years now and I've never felt better! It took me a year or so to make the adjustments, but I'm so happy that I did. I've also been having a similar smoothie to you! Frozen berries, apple, a lemon and an orange + water (or a 100% pure orange juice / water mix), it so refreshing and quite different to my usual smoothie of banana / greens / almond milk (it's not super calorie dense, but good for getting the fruit in first thing and it's delicious too!) x

Anna, what a beautiful healthy day you had. I’ve been pescatarian for about 17 years and was surprised to find that even when I thought I was eating carefully, when I actually tracked my protein in take with an app was pretty far under what I needed. Might be something to try for a week just to make sure you get enough. Love the cooking vids, keep em coming!! 😃

Hey Anna, haven't read through all the comments so this might have been suggested already (and I'm a bit late to the convo), but you can substitute avocado for banana in smoothies. They have virtually no taste when blended with other things, and provide the creamy, thickness that make smoothies so good. However, I'm not sure how available/reasonably priced avocados are in the UK, so this may not be a practical suggestions for you. But it's definitely worth a try.

Coming from a nutritional therapist here! If you ever don’t want to take probiotic tablets (bio acidophilus by biocare is the best). Definitely go to Kefir, really high in probiotics and all that good bacteria! There is a polish brand in Supermarkets that are cheaper and exactly the same!

My favorite smoothie is frozen mangos or peaches, frozen raspberries, baby spinach, matcha powder, soy milk, and a splash or orange juice. No bananas required! You can add a scoop of vanilla soy protein powder if you are feeling it too, makes it even creamer.

I learnt this week to not refrigerate tomatoes as it changes an enzyme in them that effects the taste. Not sure how I feel about that as it’s just tidier somehow to bung them in the salad drawer but I’m going to give it a go. Lx

Really enjoyed this, love your lifestyle content. I’m on the same path as you with meat reduction. I eat it three times a week now and it’s good quality, lean cuts. I also only buy organic milk now as it’s only a few pence more than normal milk but every time you buy it, you’re voting for better dairy farming. Luckily our farming practices here in the U.K. are much better than other parts of the world in terms of regulations. Don’t be scared by those ott documentaries, heck we don’t even have gmo crops over here luckily. It’s all about personal preference and research.

Land of Hope and glory is a UK based documentary and from my experience working in farms growing up it is pretty representative. (Full disclosure I am vegan now so my view is biased but I'm just trying to give a better source). I do agree that the USA based ones are quite dramatic which is a shame as it devalues the message overall.

Any milk still means cows being involuntarily impregnated over and over again to stimulated milk production. This is not natural or kind - it’s abuse. Plant milks are delicious ☺️

Hey Anna, I used to work in an Italian delicatessen/used to be Vego (hahaha I know right) and I’m sure you know as well, but just wanted to say a lot of proper parmesans (and some other cheeses) contain animal rennet and a lot of vegetarians can’t eat/choose not to eat them. (Just saying this because you mentioned your mates were vego). Love seeing this kind of content - would love to see more recipes/workouts in the future! 💕

i don't eat avocados anyway because not a fan and also try to choose fruit and veg with as little air miles as possible for the environment but recently found out another reason why not to eat them - the amount of water it takes to grow them. tbh i don't understand the vegetarian argument of it being better for the environment but then eating food that has to travel so many miles to get here. will not buy quinoa because the demand for that has meant those who have eaten that for centuries are now priced out of it.

ooooh i like the idea of a banana free smoothie because most smoothies are so high in carbs because of bananas. You could also try putting avocado in your smoothies to add a bit more creaminess and healthy fats which will keep you fuller for longer. Trussst me it tastes sooo good! I make an avocado smoothie with half a frozen banana, some pear, avocado, frozen spinach, almond milk and ice however you can totally take the banana out and add extra pear or maybe some mango to compensate for sweetness or i guess since you like sour smoothies you can just cut out the banana altogether! It's sooo yummy and filling! Hope you give it a try :)

Re smoothies, while you can’t prep the whole thing the night before you can prep all your frui and put it in a mason jar or storage bag then in the morning just dump it in and add your liquids

Anna you need to get a Vitamix machine. You can do so much with it including incredible veg and fruit smoothies. I just love mine and I’ve had it for over 10 yrs now.

I’m allergic to bananas, so I use avocado to thicken my smoothies!! It works so well! I do mine with spinach/any greens I have on hand, almond milk, and some tropical fruits (I LOVE mango) delicious!

I really appreciated the part about meat eating. I also eat meat, but I eat a lot less than a year ago, and a year ago I was eating a lot less than the year before, and so on. For me, it's just about becoming more aware. Aware of having that balance and of your own choices. For me, the environment was the main reason I started thinking about it, and my health (too much processed meat in particular isn't good - nothing in 'too much' is good) is the reason I keep it up. Because sometimes minced meat just is SO easy. Meat is a part of my diet, but it's not the sole basis of it. My breakfasts aren't meaty, my snacks aren't, and my dinners are much less meaty than they were before. Awareness. That's the key to everything.

Really happy you talked positively about meat consumption ... hopefully it might encourage others to think about the impact of their own diet / lifestyle. I've been vegan for 10 years now and could never ever eat animals again!

You seem to have so good habits - sleeping, working out ect. and i see that ever since you started running, and then other workout types you have gotten so healthy habits. I HATE bananas too! And I’ve been wanting to try to do smoothies for breakfast sometimes, because I don’t like to eat much first thing in the morning. But most recipes have stupid bananas in them. Will definitely have to try this one out!

I was surprised that someone doesn’t like bananas, but then I realized they probably don’t grow in the UK, so your supermarkets most frequently must carry only those big watery ones that have been shipped way too green to get there before going bad. So, if you’re ever in a tropical place, try the local grown varieties, there are so many! I suggest the smaller firmer ones, as I too loathe the texture of overripe bananas, but absolutely love the taste

I hate bananas too. My fave smoothie is frozen mango, kale and green tea and chia seeds. Sometimes I throw in a teaspoon of coconut oil. I also do frozen berries, frozen pineapple, kale and coconut water and chia seeds. I love chia in smoothies. It’s supposed to be good for increasing your “good cholesterol” levels.

I left a wee comment a few months ago about the same thing when Anna used Parmesan during cooking dinner/lunch for a veggie friend, Anna replied so she knows, I don't think her friend must be too strict :)

Love that you're cutting back on meat, I have cut out meat and dairy and feel incredible and so happy knowing that I'm not contributing to animals suffering. There is sadly nothing humane about a slaughterhouse. Watch 'Earthlings' or 'Forks over Knives' when you get a chance, really helpful. I buy eggs from Hen Nation (via Farmaround) - organic eggs from rescued hens, who live out their natural lives at the sanctuary in Sussex! xx

Yay to your transition a bit further away from eating meat. When you look at the impact that fishing has on our environment, you might want to cut down on fish as well;) I even „made the mistake“ of looking into the dairy industry...can‘t really consume any dairy anymore. Again, environmentaly and ethically, just not possible 🙈

Really enjoyed watching this. So glad you're reducing your meat intake. Just so you know, most parmesans are not vegetarian as they contain calf rennet, so probably a good idea you had it on the side :)

Hi Anna, I’ve been the exact same as you in terms of cutting down meat! Over Christmas I thought the amount of meat that we ate was obscene, breakfast lunch and dinner, then my dad trying to ply me with Christmas ham as a snack all day long. So I just cut way down, only having meat like you said when you go out or you really really want it (hangover obv). Now I feel like my taste has completely changed, I don’t miss it, when I do have meat I always feel like it’s a let down, and feel so much better inside! Love your what I eat in a day videos!! Xx

Mind Over Munch (RU-vid channel) has a video on veggie smoothies that includes a couple banana-free recipes. There was one with frozen courgette, cocoa powder, and a combo of coconut milk, cream, & butter that was pretty good.

Love the frittata for lunch idea. Since you mentioned it in one of your earlier videos I keep making it with all different kind of veggies (zucchini, peas etc) but always with feta on top. So easy and yummie and filling. Love it.

Just an idea 😄Why not just put the eggs directly In the plate you grilled the wedgetables in? And then put it back in In the owen. Then you wont need the pan and only dirty one thing? Love your Channel

Anna you need to get yourself on the kombucha train. It’s packed with probiotics and helps with digestion too! I have a sensitive gut and am in a doctors care for reflux, i started drinking 16oz of kombucha every day and it’s helped!

I am sorry to hear you had a UTI, it's the "worst"! Having a history of UTIs, I can recommend drinking unfiltered apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp in a glass of water, twice a day when you're sexually active (best before bed). For me it has been the most effective of all prophylactic methods and it's by far the cheapest + it has other health benefits like aiding in digestion :) I talked to my doctor about it and he approved and said even he himself drank apple cider vinegar :D
