Potatoes are healthy. They contain plenty of nutrients. Most people fry them and/or put fatty things on them which turns them into junk food. You want some more!!😮 Whap! (Oliver Twist).
I am one of those people that genuinely enjoys cooking. However, as I have explained to my husband many, many, many times: that doesn't mean I enjoy cooking every day of my life without a break. Its a lot of work, coming up with the dinner idea, going to the store and getting all the stuff for it, actually making it, and cleaning up afterward. So yeah, it is so easy to become one of those people that just does it because I have too. So for father's day I am happy to go all out and make a beef wellington. But most days in the summer? I'm just making one large side we eat for several days (so like a pasta salad for example), grabbing a bagged salad as the second side, and slapping some meat on the grill and calling it a day.
I break my pasta in 1/2 too. Makes it all get cooked evenly at the same time, and easier to eat. 😊 I haven't thought about making chicken parmesan in a good while. Thank you for the recipe and reminding me of it too! 😁
Love this video, Ariel. 🥰 I'm Italian.... so I HAVE to cook my spaghetti whole.... if I don't, my family will think there's something wrong with me...🤣. But you cook your spaghetti however you want to... I will not judge OR stop watching... you're awesome. 🤗
Try putting honey mustard in your egg salad with the mayo instead of vinegar. I love zucchini, but I make mine baked and stuffed. Slice in half the long way, scoop out the middle and put in a bowl mix with bread crumbs and seasoning of your choice, put back in the scooped out part of the zucchini top with cheese and bake until tender. Yumm.
Bread in the US has so much sugar that it can't be legally sold as bread in the European Union, it has the same sugar content as cake. All that sugar hidden in savoury food takes a toll on l your health.
I use a stainless pastry blender to cut up my eggs for egg salad. Not the one with wires though. You could probably add mustard and mayo with the eggs and mix it all at one time.
When I first started eating healthier, I would eat low phat. I couldn't figure out why my blood sugar was off. Then, I learned that.a lot of times with low fat they add sugar to make it taste better. When I switched to the full fat it was a game changer for me.
I think this is how we all got fat; the low fat craze of the 80s & 90s. We really messed food up! I never understood Slim fast... I was always trying to figure out how a weird milkshake was supposed to be healthy 🤭
@gohawks3571 it's more to do with all the unhealthy fats and huge amount of sugar, not to mention corn syrup, that are in the very processed foods that are the base of the diet of many people in the US. More fresh food prepare from scratch will make a huge difference. What she cooked here wouldn't be considered especially healthy in Europe.
Fun fact: to avoid diabetes it's always better to fatten up your sweets. Crave ice cream? Add whipped cream. Crave chocolat? Make it fluffy & eat Mousse au chocolat or do it hot like hot Cocoa with full fat milk. The sugar levels in our blood will increase a lot slower which is better for your oancreas
You know I’ve seen your meal planning video way too many times, because when you said you filter through the same 10 dinner recipes, I involuntarily went,”mAnGo ChIcKeN cUrRy.” 😂
Try cutting the celery into small chunks by cutting it from top to bottom. My family eats it like popcorn and we have less "string" issues! Thanks for sharing!!!!
this is one of my absolute favorite videos!! I love how real you are, and how you make these topics light hearted and fun! my kids and husband are alwayss asking what's for dinner, :D , and I am always struggling with overcomplicating eating healthy and meal planning. So this helps me a lot! I am looking forward to trying all these out!!
Hey Ariel, you can also try to mix mayonnaise with a scoop of greek yoghurt, mustard, honey and a little vinnegar. If you have pickles, take a little bit from the marinade for your egg salad dressing. Salt and pepper and if you have chives, cut it and put it in the dressing. That is the way, I like to make my egg salad.
Try using your plain Greek yogurt in place of mayonnaise - less calories, more protein. Also, if you’re looking to cut back on carbs, chicken parm on zucchini noodles is really, really good!
You are the best! The Tidy Tango is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!!! Grandma is still decluttering without tearing up the little cottage!! 66 yrs old and I just may be able to include the 20 min workout and do some simple meal planning so Nancy might get a home cooked dinner that she deserves! I donated all my cleaning books and use your system, Nothing and I mean nothing has worked for me since side tracked home slob sisters of the 70s Pam and Cissy!!! You do look so good but it your sweet spirit that is so great. I like your fellow also. Beautiful family! All my best , Maureen
I've been enjoying your content for years. You're lookin' good! Your hair looks so good not having the visible crunchy product in it anymore. You've had numerous experts on to help you with decluttering, styling your bedroom, etc, would you consider having an expert to help busy moms with makeup, hair and clothing tips?
My favorite vegetable is Kabocha squash 😍 I cut it in half, scoop the seeds out, put the inside part on a sheet pan, roast it at 400 for around 40 min and that’s it!!!!! It tastes sooooo sweet! I don’t add any salt, spices or oil. It tastes good as it is. (Kabocha squash tastes like a mixture of sweet potatoes and chestnut)
Ariel! I’m so tired of thinking what to make for meals ! I am totally going to use your breakfast plan ! Thank you! I’ve been wife mom for 20 years and food is not appealing to me at all at this stage in my life
I get you... Meal planning is exhausting! My husband's job is crazy with the hours & how far away it is. It's hard to send him with food, because he's so hungry he eats fast food, then because of that he doesn't eat my food (because of the long drive either way). Then not hungry for dinner, so I didn't cook. Just ate some sweet potatoes. Not the worst ever problem, just mentally hard.
Good for you, Ariel! Feeding yourself and your family healthy food is HUGE for a long-term quality of life. Stuff can always happen but the healthier you are the better you can get through whatever challenge life hits you with. I had a large artichoke for lunch today; a definite favorite! Avocados are amazing, too!
I’ve lost almost 20 lbs since February. My go to lunch lately has been chili with a side of cottage cheese and tortilla chips. Lots of protein so I get full fast and stay full until dinner time. Also… take your time when you eat. If you savor each mouthful… you won’t be as tempted to keep eating when you’re full just because it tastes good.
I like your new look. Btw, white vinegar is for cleaning. Apple cider vinegar is much heathier. It tastes good in slaw, and potato salad too. Just use a lot less.
Yes !!! I liked seeing this. It’s helpful to see how other people make different things & how they use them!!!! I would love having those leftovers to pick at and repurpose during the week!!!
It’s TWO SONGS! It’s from the Polar Express AND the score of will ferrell’s ELF. The first several notes are the same and then it has a slight variation at the end. Could be either 😊
I love so many veggies! BUT the frozen brocolli and cauliflower mixture in the oven is my fave! Mix it with olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper then bake it! ❤🤌🏼
I think I have to say what I don't like rather than my favorite 😁 I don't like okra, Lima beans, and the really tough skinny green beans that often have hard stems or even hard parts in them. Sometimes happens with broccoli too; I hate that! Veggies aren't supposed to have bones?!
@@seforac9632 I normally roast frozen veggies too; it does take longer because it's frozen, and it could be because I crowd it a bit. Generally I do 350° for 1.5 hours. You might have to play with it. I bet you could do higher for shorter, but watch it close.
Make your own mayo it’s easy and healthier. Cut up the celery and put it in your egg salad. Add a bit of mustard and cayenne pepper to stout egg salad.
I put my pasta whole into the water spread it around the edge and walk away. You don’t have to stir it to keep it from sticking. The Italians really know the trick.
I just want to say that I always do that with my husband when I hum a song or describe an actor that I can’t remember the name of. He has a good memory and he is patient with me. He knows what is coming when I say “I need you to Leslie Mann something.” We named this process after the first actor he unearthed from my mind 😁
Potentially useful tip: I am also upping my protein and love egg salad. I use greek yogurt (full fat, homemade if I’m super awesome that week) in place of the mayo. It ups the protein without sacrificing that creamy texture. I also season it up for the flavor factor, which is super important for me to be satisfied.
I love yellow squash sauted with onion and a touch of oil. If you used bacon grease its good that way too. Since youre being healthy use a light oil to keep it from sticking. Cook down til its browns a bit. Salt & pepper to taste. I put lots of pepper andcquivk dash of salt.
Hey, Ariel! Love this video! I've been watching you for at least a year and I always click super fast when I see you've released a new one. For your bread, I suggest you make your own sourdough bread - the kind where you let it ferment for at least 8 hours... 10-12 is better. Way healthier than white bread (or store bought any bread - except for real sourdough, which you can buy at Aldi if you have them near you). The ingredients are only flour and water and salt. BUT fermenting it makes the flour much healthier because it has a prebiotics and the fermentation breaks down the gluten and it has way lower glycemic index than other breads. You can make your own starter or order some online or put out feelers to your friends... I bet someone you know has one and can share. If you start in the AM, you can bake it in the evening OR, you can start at night and then bake it in the AM.
You look great! I am trying to be better about eating nutritious food and stick with it. Thanks for the motivation to stick with it, as I know I won't regret eating more healthy choices.
I use an egg slicer. Slice one way, turn 90 degrees and slice the other way. The kids like this job. I just like mayo with a dash of black pepper but my husband likes to add some mustard.
Great tip for the almond milk carton, pour it backwards (from the other side) the air pocket coming out changes (science 😂) and it doesn’t do that gloop pour thing anymore
By the way, your video about two weeks ago inspired me to get off my bum and just do an exercise from RU-vid. Two weeks later and I haven't missed a single day since! 😳 Thank you kindly! Also eating healthier, too. They really do go together... 🥰
I wouldn’t mind a video on meal prep…or any food things you do to make your life easier. Like having celery chopped and always ready to go…I have such a hard time gathering the will to even do that though.
That you for showing how you keep your celery, I alway a buy it and cut it up for the week (well I did once, lol) but it got so dry. I never thought about putting it in water. You have inspired me to try again!
