I used both a VLF and PI metal detector while beach metal detecting. I used my Whites PI (Pulse induction) and my Minelab Manticore VLF (Very low frequency) and detected both under water and the beach. The beaches are very sanded in lately and the dry sands are turning up more finds. Advantage is the VLF makes detecting the dry sands much easier by being able to discriminate. Both work but have their uses to find deep valuables. VLF VS. PI
