Nice review of a good looking gun ! Springfield does make some solid firearms. I know someone that had a Springfield .380 that had the same issue with the slide , if I’m not mistaken he had a gunsmith polish the rails and it did help some , he later traded up to a .40 cal. A 10mm is a good choice , it’s the same as a .40 cal. , brass is slightly shorter. Don’t forget to remind people to thumbs up 👍 !
Thank you John me and Melissa appreciate you watching hopefully with a good cleaning and some rounds run through it it will work great it just feels better than any 1911 I've owned
Absolutely brother this is probably my favorite 1911 that I own so far it just feels different and very well built compared to some of the other ones I have. Thank you so much for commenting I really appreciate it
It has something to do with the extractors on 1911 pistols they do not like 9 mm ammunition, it has something to do with the rim on the case extractors can't get a good grip on the case or something I am no gunsmith but I have heard people smarter than me talking about this so if I were going to spend my money 1911 I would stick with 45 ACP or 38 Super,, Jeff Cooper would say there's only one chambering for 1911 and that's 45 ACP! Mr. Cooper was the man!
it was part of an overrun order. my local gun shop had 3 different models, all Springfield 45's... and mil spec...Garrison, the stainless steel version, and the WW2 military version.... at the right place at the right time....COULD NOT PASS IT UP!
I know brother this is one of my favorite 1911s that I own it just feels more substantial it's hard to explain well-built piece of American history thank you so much for commenting brother too we appreciate it
As far as carrying a M1911 goes: A carry gun should be something that's instinctive to use regardless of what it is. That means training. For me, carrying an M1911 is a no brainer, I carried them for a long time in the Army before the change to the 9mm I won't name because my dislike of it runs that deep. I also took M1911A1s to multiple 3rd AD and USAREUR competitions and won some, and placed well in all even competing against the allegedly superior Barretta. The M1911A1 is like an extension of my body, I know exactly what to expect from it and how it will behave in a given situation, everybody else's experience may vary.
That is some very Sound Advice brother for anybody to take to heart I open carried my gun for many years but after getting my concealed carry because I know there's a lot of people don't need guns and right off the bat they need to train the things I seen people do during that course terrified me
Just picked one up today in stainless steel(only one they had in “Mil-Spec). I wanted another “Mil Spec” for “As Issued” pistol matches. Incidentally I saw on Springfield website that the “Mil- Spec” 1911 have been “discontinued.” I’ve carried a Colt Officers Mark IV 3.5 inch barrel. What I carry is an HK45c which has similar external cock and lock external safety/decocker
That's awesome brother I absolutely love this gun this is probably my favorite 1911 that I own it just feels well built it's hard to explain to you pick this gun up thank you so much for commenting it really helps the channel we really appreciate it
