I don't have children or anything but as a child growing up Christmas had its ups and downs.. Sometimes we wouldn't even have a tree, but we would have things like Hot Chocolate and Christmas movies on TV. Then other time we would have a tree and lights and stockings. Other times presents under the tree. As children grow, it is very important to see the various cycles of life. Money is not always a consistency, sometimes jobs fall through or new jobs pay less. The important thing is to have each other each year. Something I've begun doing as an adult is to help out when things are tough. Fortunately, I live close to a lot of secondhand stores and thrift stores now so even though I'm a very broke college student I was still able to take $10 to the thrift shop and get some small things for under the tree. You have to do what you have to do.

We have four kids and we go crazy for Christmas it’s honestly something I enjoy doing. I find things on great deals and just really love spoiling the kids this one time of year. Great haul!

My mom has 5 kids and is pregnant (just like Stephanie lol though we are MUCH older) she has a 21 year old, a 19 year old, a 17 year old, a 14 year old (me) and an 8 year old. AND she's 4 months pregnant with #6 and we ALL still live in the same household. Sometimes I kinda feel bad for her around christmas time lol.

That Tricycle is awesome ! My autistic sister who is 24 used to have one when she was younger, and im encouraging my parents to get one for her again so that she can get outside and ride bikes places with me.

No need to justify your crazy purchases we all go crazy when shopping for our own kids it's part of being a parent we love our kids so much and we usually just splurge. Also i totally get how hard shopping for noah is. Isabel has asd and low muscle tone so shopping for her was hard too. Thanks for your ideas! I will definetly get some of those for her

This is great. My sister is 14 and has autism and we get her a lot of the same thing you got your son, even though she's definitely the hardest to shop for. Well be in a store picking out things that are more for kids or when I'm talking about what we got for everyone they're like "but she's 14? Why would she want that?" But she's just starting to like the things that kids normally get into earlier. She loves puzzles so much, and little games. We got her the kindle fire that you got your younger one, but we think she'll really like it. The more kid like apps and books she really loves and I think she'll have a blast. Edit: my little sister is 9 months old and she loves the hippo. She always has to have a lullaby to fall asleep and when she's sleepy she'll lay and stare at the stars on the ceiling forever.

Growing up, our were also give or take. We did get presents but maybe not as many and we got that. We were just glad we got something for Christmas. Sometimes it were larger presents and less or smaller ones and we got more. Our family was more into the meaning of Christmas and we always donated things to Salvation Army and Toys for Tots and even donated things to the Animal Shelter.

Oh the hippo! This is my five year old autistic’s favorite toy. It’ll last. He throws it around and he’s pretty rough. He loves to hold it and give it kisses and the music helps him a lot. So excited for Liam😀

Our four year old has seen that truck set and every time we walk by it in the store he totally freaks out about it! Such a cool toy! Thanks so much for sharing! And that laugh and learn ball is so neat! I think Tessie would actually love that even though she’s a little older than he is! Such fun gifts! I think the vtech hippo might be my favorite! ❤️

That hippo pisses my 11 month old so bad. I hoped leaving it in her crib with her would help her go back to sleep because it turns on when she cries...nope. It just fuels her fire. Like how dare it speak to her. She throws it right out.

My 9 year old autistic son is OBSESSED with Operation. He requested that same “2018 edition with the red heart shorts” and a rustic one. He draws Operation all the time and has a onesie of Operation Sam that he wears. Such a great choice for your ASD boy!

My brother who is autistic as well had a tricycle forever and literally rode it until the wheels fell off lol! It is expensive but it’s such a good investment. My son is autistic and when he gets a little older we will be getting him one too.

Don't feel like you have to defend yourself or make excuses for buying what you did for your kids. I have learned over the years you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. I hope they all have a fantastic Christmas! P.S. how does Noah do with the chaos of Christmas morning? None of my kids are special needs per say but my son who is 13 has a bit of a meltdown on Christmas morning (so we have scaled waaay back on the amount of gifts and just do a few things for each, and we asked Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents to not do gifts for them unless it's something small).

I am so so happy that you are able to spoil your kids once in a while; they’re only kids for a little while. I’m 19 now, so I don’t get as many things but I sure enjoyed when I did and can appreciate how hard my parents had to work to be able to afford that, and I can’t wait to do the same for my future kid(s). Don’t let anyone tell you you shouldn’t do this. The only thing you should be doing is enjoying being a parent, and if this is it, this is it

I got my 1.5 year old those giant trucks last year for Christmas and he still plays with them DAILY. He actually ripped off the dumping part and rides them around the house 😅 but hey! He still loves them!

We have the red crawl around car and the people are right lol it’s a great toy! I’ve had mine for 3 years so far and all 3 of my kids play with it still and their ages 5, 4, & almost 2! So it was worth the money haha 🚗👶🏼👦🏼👦🏻

I’m not even sure how I got here 😂 but I watched this all the way though and I gotta say, that adult trike is AWESOME! My dad bought one for my mom and the one he got is also motorized, so when she gets too tired, she can switch on the power and just ride it back home. Awesome choice!

In your video you was taking about your son Noah not being able to ride a bike. My son who also has Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, etc. has a hard time with bikes and not able to ride although he wants to really bad. We really enjoy watching your videos. My really relates to Noah.

My hubby got our foster son that same controller a while ago! I think our kiddo knows how much cheaper it is than the real thing because we turn around and he still has my hubby’s expensive controller in his mouth while the colorful flashy one is right next to him 😂

The basic skills board will defo benefit Lex and proberly Noah too. Any child with motor skills difficultys. We have one and my 7 and 11 year old have both benefitted from using the same board.

My Son had that car and loved it! We only parted with it when he no longer for inside. Watching the things you got for Liam is super helpful because my Godson is just a month older and I have no idea what to get him. My Son is 4 and loves many of the same things as Lex. Oh those eggs are awesome! I'm going to try and get them. I love that you've got him toys that are fun and educational. We go super crazy with the kids at Christmas usually but this year we've cut down because many of their toys from last year haven't even been opened. Aww bless Noah and his reasoning for going to physical therapy. You can do it noah! My parents have a neighbour who has low muscle tone among other things and he has the same trike. It's amazing that he can get around on it and loves it. I'm sure he's almost 40 now and can still be seen zooming around on his trike. His recently broke and as his mum passed fairly recently there was no one to replace it so the community got together and raised money to buy him a new one.

It’s a little late now since you already got Noah his bike but have you ever looked into an adaptive bike for him? My son was in PT and loved riding the Rifton adaptive bike. It was actually a little big for him but he caught on immediately . They have grants and applications for get them donated to you. If you’ve never looked into it , it might be something to keep in mind for Liam when he gets older if he struggles with bike riding like Noah. In PA the earliest age to apply for one from the variety club is 4 with a recommendation from your PT.

Honey just a tip only give the kids toys in their age group , if for some reason it is a bit older for any of your children just save it for their birthday. I'm a nurse and it's important. I'm 57 and even around a while lol

I don’t let myself feel bad for spoiling my kids on Christmas. They have to spend a lot of time without their parents so that their parents can work and they deserve to be spoiled. Also they only get stuff on birthdays and Christmas. We don’t buy a ton of toys any other time so it’s more fun that way. Merry Christmas!

My son went through 2 of those hippos. They were recalled at one point because they just stop working after a couple weeks! Hopefully that doesn’t happen to you. They are so expensive too

As a kid, we often didn't have much. Dollar store gifts, etc. and when both my parents happened to get really good jobs they spoiled us a bit. Like, hundreds of dollars each on us when previously they'd spend maybe $50, sometimes for both of us together. If we were lucky, she'd be able to spend $100 total. I remember being judged by people because my mom couldn't buy a lot. Then when she could we were also judged. You will never win. There's always someone who will say you're not getting enough for your kids and when you do, there's always someone saying you're spoiling them. My memories aren't of the gifts. It's of decorating and cuddling in the couch to Christmas movies and making cookies and making Christmas dinner with my mom.

Amazing bike! My 17 year old suffers from autoimmune encephalitis and had a stroke. She does PT but has yet to manage bike riding. We are hoping to get her a similar bike this summer!
