LOL I agree.. fix your life and get out and go camping.. Great review. Hubby and I camp in NW Montana and we had an Aliner for a few years and now do SUV RVing (AKA Car Camping) so we have been looking at used Roof Tents to allow us to still just have the convenience of the 4WD SUV to get us to back country off grid spots and NOT be pulling a trailer. We are considered Seniors by society, but we are very active.. the SUV inside is a bit cramped for two people so hence the desire for the Roof Tent. I REALLY like the idea of the tent taking up half the roof so we can have a cargo box or our Kayaks or bikes on the other side .. so THANK YOU for your honest review.

I just ordered this tent today and some J bars for my paddleboard! I’m so glad to hear it hasn’t impacted the mileage or feel of the drive. I also ordered a cot cushion as I’m a fan of comfy sleeping also haha. Question - can the ladder be pulled up for sleeping or does it have to stay down when you’re actually inside the tent?
@TrailguidePictures

The ladder needs to stay down, it’s part of the support structure. I hope you enjoy yours.

Thanks for the review. I do dispersed camping in Colorado and the #1 negative comment I get from others when I say I might want a rooftop tent is that I can’t just take it down and run to the store real quick. To that I always ask why am I running to the store while camping. I think it just depends on “how” you camp. My real question is this…let’s say I am wanting to take it down quickly because maybe I’m road tripping and seeing sights, how quickly with practice can you take it down and pack it up? I imagine with regular use you’d have it down in 5 or so minutes??
@TrailguidePictures

Yes. Set up or take down is 5-10 minutes once you have some practice

how is it in the rain getting in and out. Some tents seem to have more of overhang and side protection. if you touch the roof getting in and out you're likely to get wet? does water pool ?

Good review of your tent. I agree with you about packing all your things and food. If you forget something you just make do. The extra padding to have a comfy sleep is a great idea. Yes getting out in nature is the best. Enjoy the camping and canoeing season. Cheers

Hello. Thanks for the review. Do you leave the tent on or do you take it off and put it back on as needed?
@TrailguidePictures
@TrailguidePictures 11 месяцев назад
I leave it on but have considered removing it. It’s just a matter of time and where to put it if I took it off. Doesn’t affect anything being up there. Mileage is about the same

@@TrailguidePictures that is great to hear. I am ordering this one based on your review, so I know who to blame :) ... Seeing that it is over 100 Lbs., taking it down on a regular basis is not an option. I am hoping to get a lot of awesome weekends. Thanks again for the review.

@@TrailguidePictures hello, I purchased the tent, I have a question, are you able to fold it and store with the rain fly ? I am having difficulty...
@TrailguidePictures
@TrailguidePictures 10 месяцев назад
@@shmuelsteinberg4648 Yes. I normally put the poles (in their bag) inside the tent before folding it up. When folding, I kind of tuck the rain fly into the frame knowing that it is a bit bulky. The first few times I used it everything was tight but it loosens a bit with use. Best to try to think ahead of how it all packs up. Once you get it, it's easy but the first few times is a learning curve.
@Anasta43
@Anasta43 Год назад
Well, that was a very good comment about it, things I did not know. I guess could you centre it on the top of your vehicle or does it have to hang over the edge like it does because of the ladder. I guess one thing that’s positive some of the Bears I have seen around duck lake in Manitoba would not likely be tall enough to reach the tent. I have had several experiences with the Bears from Manitoba to thunder Mountain in the Canadian west and have not enjoyed it much.

Hello. I really like the looks and practicality of this rooftop tent. But I read somewhere a review that you are not able to seat comfortably straight inside the tent and I haven’t been able to find other reviews about it. I’m 5’9 and my partner 6’3 so it is a concern. Can you please comment about that?

Great review. Thanks for the insight. (Maybe silly) question: have you ever used it on the ground? We have a long trip where we might have to camp on a platform by the sea. Knowing it’s not a quick thing to detach the tent, we might just bring another one but I am curious about it.

What’s your honest thoughts on packing it down? I just got mine today - it’s my third type of rooftop tent. Set up was super easy but pack down was bloody hard. Jesus. Was almost like you had to get everything perfect to get that cover on. Hopefully it’s just user error but wow that was a headache

The car is the part I don't care for. I want a roof top tent as a base because I'm setting up a Jeep for search and rescue so I can go rescue people in cars like that who didn't have a realistic understanding of their vehicle's limits and got just far enough to be in trouble. I live in an area where the snow can come without warning. The most common brand of car in the ditch is Subaru. The second is Toyota, specifically the trucks, followed by a small percentage consisting of everything else. The reason is the false confidence the owners of these brands tend to have.
