What I have learned from living in Rural France - why I enjoy the quiet life
In this video, I’ll reveal why I left the UK to live in rural France and the difficulties I experienced adjusting to my new life in France. The main motivation for moving to France was to live more simply and slowly and to have time to appreciate the small things. Commuting to work in London can feel like you’re on an endless hamster wheel and I craved a lifestyle which would give me more time to spend outside, in nature. A lifestyle which didn’t value money and things but rather time and the passing of the seasons.
Slow living is something I’d heard about, but never really been able to master in my UK life. My new French life has enabled me to move towards a slower, simpler way of living that would not only benefit me, but also the planet. While I know I am some way off achieving the complete slow living in France dream that made me move over here, I feel like being in rural France is helping me to slow down and live more simply - and happily!
Subscribe to my channel so you never miss a video! I'll share my home improvement tips and tricks, how-to videos and chat to you about my life living in France in the countryside. With guest appearances from my chickens and cats, of course!

I love your channel: I have been watching a lot of the Chateau serious, and the main component I find is the slower life and sitting back and enjoying your life, I am an American and a New Yorker, and we have one speed "FAST" or 5th GEAR, Everyone always says I can sleep when I am dead. I enjoy learning the French lifestyle, I am Italian on my dads side Irish and French on my moms. So thank you for your channel and your love of France.

Thank you for your kind words - they really do mean a lot. Yes, it is true the relaxed lifestyle in France is one of the things we love and that drew us to move here in the first place. Thank you for watching :)

The quote you included in the beginning of your video is so spot on. The joy of just being - practicing it takes skill! Focusing on the little things, such as seasons change, as you mentioned, is so rewarding! Great video! I enjoyed it!

I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos! I actually do a couple of different things; I'm an estate agent and I have a wine tour business - here is a link to a video I did all about that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qmodWKxZklU.html. Thank you for watching my videos :)

I am a subscriber and thankyou for taking the time to create your content. In your area, if I purchased a property on day 1 acre of land, roughly what would be the property tax (council tax equivalent)? Just rough estimate per year. I know there's varying factors etc. Appreciate your time 👍

Thanks for subscribing, sorry but I really don’t know how much it would cost and it really varies! Thanks

As a french, I would like to know why you can't find all you found in rural France in any place of rural UK (be sure english people are welcome here, that's not the problem. But what is that you find here that you can't have there?). Thanks.

Thanks for watching my video :) The culture in France is completely different - the slower/more relaxed pace of life, the long lunches with family and friends, the delicious food...I could go on! And of course the French traditions, like getting a freshly-baked baguette from the Boulangerie every morning...the lifestyle in France is very different from the lifestyle in the UK.

Many people do move to rural areas in the UK - Cornwall, Dorset, Wiltshire and areas in Wales and the North too. Those that come to France appreciate French culture, food, weather, way of life etc.
