Never tried a real Lightspeed pedal but I use a profile for my Tonex and, man, this thing is sweet. It's similar to my Wampler Belle but less bloated, a touch clearer and more "organic". I guess where the Belle is "natural", the Lightspeed is "organic". One better! I wished there was a mini pedal version of the Lightspeed....

Yeah, I would agree with that. I have both on my board. The Belle tends to be thicker in the mids/low mids. The dynamics of each are different too.

Great advice! We've tried many pedals through a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp, but the tone always changed, until we used a Tumnus. We'll try it with using the Lightspeed after it. Cool!!!!!!!!!!!

I hit my Lightspeed with a RYRA Klone. You’re right...it doesn’t get too compressed and you’re able to keep your dynamics! Great review and playing Sir.

In the process of building new main board. Have Fulltone Ranger/ Queenbee-Duelist-Cornerstone Gladio-J Rockets JMod Archer-87 Rat and possible the three UAFX pedals. Held up because have Wampler Terraform, Earthquaker Bit Commander and Dispatch Master which are awesome!! Interested in Lightspeed now lol! I love using a Tumnus in front of my drive pedals as a cleanish boost (even though that’s not the “right” way of doing it). It works well with my OCD… but I’m really intrigued by the Lightspeed and the Timmy.

I also have the latest version of the Tumnus, and I agree its good for a low gain boost, but I feel its a little limited for my setup anyway. so I just purchased the Lightspeed, and Ill see if all the hype and positive reviews are true.

Your description reminds me of how I use the Nobles ODR1 mini at the end of my dirt chain. I use it mainly as a solo boost because it stacks so well with other pedals and when I hit it you get a natural punch that doesn't significantly change your tone. Good video!

Michael W. Westbrook yeah I super downsized my board. Compressor, volume pedal, selah scarlett love v3, morning glory, micro pog, and HX stomp for amp delays and reverbs. Takes a little more out of the box thinking. But I've been very shocked at how good the hx stomp is. Just need the lightspeed haha

Out of curiosity have you tried the Fairfield barbershop? Seems a little grittier/less smooth but seems to have even less compression and slightly more neutral tone.

David Harris Thanks! On my more recent videos I’m using a Sony 6600 with a kit lens - 16-55mm. One Light. I had never done much video until I started doing videos this year so I’m learning as I go. I’m using a low end Rode mic.

Thanks Michael for the video. The LS has been on my radar for some time. Have you tried the Timmy? I’ve heard (and from what I can hear on YT) the Timmy seems to have a tad more gain amd perhaps is somewhat limited by the tone control only being a cut, and not able to put treble back in? Anyhow, I’m sure I’m not the only one deciding between those two or perhaps just to get both, haha

I played a Timmy for a long time. Great pedal! I prefer the LS these days but nothing wrong with a Timmy either! The EQ on the Timmy is actually a bit more versatile because it allows you to shape the mids because of how interactive the bass/treble controls are.

Kind of torn between the lightspeed and Fairfield Barbershop V2 for a low gain pedal to add a touch of hair and punchy-ness. I have a Sick As MKiii first after my Empress Compressor mkii, and love the way it hits my other dirt pedals and would love to hear how these fit in the mix.

I love mine but its making a very loud scratchy dirty pot sound when I engage it. I have cleaned it with CRC a few times and it helps for a bit but it gets scratchy again pretty quick, I don't want to bug NG about it yet, Maybe you have a tip?

Not sure what the problem could be. Could be a switch issue but not really sure. Nick Greer would be the guy to ask! They are a small operation and he will take care of you!

It’s actually Black! It’s got a Dynasonic in the neck and a TV Jones Filtertron Classic + in a dynasonic mount in the bridge. It originally had dynasonics in both but I changed the bridge to have something a little more versatile.

Yes! It’s great, only mod I’ve done is add a steel plate to the bridge pickup. Makes it a touch fatter. I like the fatter neck on this model

I love it for humbuckers! I think as you turn the drive up past 3 o’clock or so the low end starts to boost as well. I could see how this might not be ideal for humbuckers but I’m usually running the drive at 1/2/3 o’clock so it’s not a problem for me.

It’s great with humbuckers, very natural and transparent. It is not a TS, so no low end or high end roll off and a very small push around 2K to add presence. (Slight)

Fantastic video ! I really enjoyed the song and the playing. Ibmay have stolen the lead lick you played as a melody because it sounds really good, hehe. I wish I had a piece of equipment I seemingly liked as much as you do the Lightspeed. I guess my Boss OB2 flanger is that for me. However, I do wish you would expend a bit on the gear side of the video, and maybe a short overview of the tone range from the pedal. Could be nice =) Anyway, nice couple of videos, I really dug the last couple of videi [videos, but I just spent a couple of minutes trying to find a better plural for the word]. So keep on rocking, and keep up the good work !

Ah the lightspeed aka the hipster special. What does it sound like 🤷🏻 no one knows because it sounds like you don't have a pedal engaged at all. Clearly designed for quintessential praise and worship band who associate all overdrive with the devil. This is true bypass like you've never heard it before so much so that you may aswell just bypass the pedal entirely. The hipsters love this one because the little snowflakes (bless their nylon socks) are scared of the blues and just want to sound like an un-effected Fender pumping out some below bedroom volume neo soul licks rite into fruity loops. Greer could make so more money with a pedal simpky called the "air" with no components or input jacks at all that sits on your hipster desk next to your Grogu from the Mandalorian Funko Pop.
