I do the same, watch podcasts, it is my way of feeling part of something . I would really love to join a real life group someday. Seems something comes up where I am needed to stay home .
Yes I can relate! For me it was couple of months between first intending to go to a meet up before I actually went ha! It’s tough when there’s a lot of other stuff going on in life!
I know right! Their pieces are so classic and I love the oversized fit. It's awesome because I feel like there are similar patterns available for many of their pieces!
Hello from Sweden. I was soloknitting and found you on youtube to keep me company. You were showing your wips and pulled up the Ingrid sweater, you were working on The back piece. As im watching this in currently knitting on my own Ingrid, at The back piece 😂 funny coincidence. Thank you for a really Nice podcast
Hello Sara! Haha wow what a coincidence!!! Thanks so much for watching and hope you enjoy knitting your Ingrid Sweater - the back piece and the other pieces too!!
Great idea to make knitting more social. My town in Ontario has a knitter’s guild that I think meets once a month. I went twice and then Covid struck. I will have to look into them again!
Oh that's awesome! Yeah I thought it was fun to meet up with other folks and see what everyone's working on! It can be hard to find time (and rally the motivation to actually go haha) but when I do go I have a great time!
I knit the Corbis by Nastasja Hornby in Knitting for Olive in silk. I wore it quite a few times already. I did not see any pilling. I liked your podcast. You seem very ambitious. Good luck with all your projects.
Thanks for sharing your plans! It's always informative to see other knitter's plans and find new patterns. I just made a red sweater for this past holiday season! It's the famous Ranunculus pattern by Midori Hirose, and I used Malabrigo Rios in Ravelry Red. Since it was worsted weight, it knitted up quickly and it's pretty with the decorative yoke! Good luck with your knits!
Thank you so much for watching!! Oooh a worsted weight Ranunculus sounds wonderful - I just looked up the Malabrigos Rios in Ravelry Red and it's such a festive color! What a perfect holiday sweater :)
You should check out the Natures Cardigan by Ozetta! Even more reminiscent of the babaa cardigan no 23, with buttons all the way up to the collar as well :)
I love your style so much! I really resonate with the patterns you share and the aesthetic you have! I don’t really have specific pattern I’m planning to knit but I am looking at techniques. I also want to do more researching and learn about the different regions that knit ware comes from. I’m hoping I can have an even stronger appreciation for all the styles of knitting there is! I can’t wait to see you knit up the date night sweater!
Aw thank you so much, that means a lot! And that's a great intention to learn about different regional influences on knitwear, I'd be super interested to see what you find!
your such a delight. I enjoy the pattern review as well as your choices in yarn and style. thank you so much for making the time to do this. it is appreciated.
I enjoy your ideas , choices of yarn and patterns. So lovely to hear your intentions - really makes me reflect on life and knitting. I'm trying to finish a couple of troublesome projects before casting on anything new Thank you
Aw thank you so much, I'm so glad to hear that :) That's definitely an awesome goal - I'm also planning to finish my current sweater WIP before I cast on a new one - hopefully soon though!
Great episode! I love how you talked about your possible modifications with your plans! I was agreeing with everything you said lol. Talking to the screen/you haha I hope others do this too 🤣
Oh yes I love that Maves jacket! I'm excited to see how yours turns out. I love all your plans. I try to plan too, but then a new pattern gets released and it all goes out the window lol! Happy knitting 😀
Thank you! Haha, I am fully expecting that a new pattern might come out and I’ll want to repurpose my yarn! I figured the planning process is helpful anyway even if things don’t actually according to plan! Thanks for watching and happy knitting!
Thank you for sharing your knitting plans ! I got so much inspiration out of it 🤩🤩!! I also plan to knit a sweater for my husband, a fair isle sweater, which I don't have a pattern yet. He also is very knit worthy and it's a great pleasure to knit for him !
Just discovered your podcast. Really enjoyed watching your plans. So inspiring! Looking forward to following you along on your knitting journey this year😊 Yes, HYTTE is cabin in Norweigan. Us norweigans loves our HYTTE and visit them as often as we can😁 Thank you for a wonderful episode! Love from Anne
Thank you so much for watching! And thank you :) For the sunday sweater I ended up using the camarose snefnug that the pattern calls for, but without the mohair! I hope you find the right yarn for you!
How about a unspun wool sweater for your boyfriend? They are super lightweight and keep from you from overheating. Very little washing is needed since these wools are even more “self cleaning” i can’t say enough about how amazing unspun wool is. Nutiden is my recent favorite, but i have a cardigan in plutölopi (sp?)that is one of my faves. ❤
thank you for the suggestion! I have been super interested in trying an unspun yarn, that sounds lovely! my boyfriend is SUPER wool sensitive though, so I’d have to make sure I pick one that’s supremely soft haha
Your knitting plans are so impressive! You have such confidence in adapting and changing some of those patterns to match your vision and I think that is so cool! My goal is to wear the sweaters that I knit--I'm always afraid of snagging or staining the few I have knit and so they just sit in my closet.
Aw thank you so much! Adapting patterns can lead to some frogging and regret haha but it's also pretty fun! And that's an awesome goal - I think it's a great idea and hope you enjoy wearing your lovely hand-knit sweaters more!!
I love your knitting project ideas for 2023, especially the petite knit sweater tank. I have never knitted with mohair so I'm not sure if I have a sensitivity to it. Wearing a tank over a white tee is a cute and classic look. That will be one of my plans this coming Spring to knit. I look forward to viewing your knitted dress :)
Aw thanks so much for watching! A tank over a white tee is a classic look indeed - sounds like a lovely knitting plan! :) Haha I'll keep y'all posted on any development on a knitted dress for sure!
I think that bomber jacket is really cute! I'm not sure I'll describe this well but for the pockets, you could possibly bind off a section of stitches where you would want the pocket opening to be and then cast on the same number of stitches on the next row (like a button hole, just larger) Then you can add a backing to the pocket inside of the jacket in a different yarn (matching or a fun scrap from another project) You would only see the mismatched yarn when you've lifted the pocket flaps. Just an idea, it'll look great either way! Thanks for sharing your ideas for future makes!
Oooh that’s brilliant to use a different yarn for the pocket!!! No one else would see and it could be super cute too, thanks so much for the suggestion!!
I have just come across your podcast. You are lovely and full of information. I’m coming back to knitting after being on hiatus when I started quilting during Covid. I can make quilts in the day and knit at night. I want to improve my skills and challenge myself. We will see how that goes. Loved watching you. ❤
Aw that is so nice, thank you so much! I love that with knitting, there’s always an opportunity to find a challenging and engaging project to learn something new, and also you can work on a more meditative project when you feel like! Quilting also sounds so cool!
Hi! Nice to have found your channel. Lovely plans! I made a tee (Florencia by Eweknit Toronto) in Knitting for Olive silk and it holds up perfectly. Didn't notion any pilling, so I think you'll be fine! I think you have to be careful with the silk, so I wash it cold, role it in a towl and stand on it to dry it a bit and lay it flat to dry. I love the fabric the silk makes, really flowy.
I love your list! I have some similar designers on my list as well - I would like to make Sonder by The Petite Knitter and the Ingrid Sweater by PetiteKnit
Thank you! Wow the Sonder looks so lovely too - I love how geometric it looks! And the Ingrid Sweater is amazing - I am actually wearing mine right now haha!
I used the olive green pure silk for the Cami no 4 dress and I love it more than anything. It worked up absolutely beautifully and has lovely drape. For me personally the fabric hasn't pilled at all and is very nice against bare skin during summer. Also the shine is gorgeous. It is quite strecthy, however, so in my experience the straps of camisoles tend to stretch out a bit over time. 😊 I'm so glad I found your channel, it was so great seeing all the pieces you haved planned for 2023.
Hello! I saw your dress on ravelry and it is soooo stunning ! I love your idea for the cami no 4 dress - it looks so elegant and I'm so glad to hear that you love yours!! Thanks so much for watching 😊
FLOORED by the Cami no 4 dress idea. I have a bunch of KFO cotton Moreno leftover from my Y-top (like a lot, I was used to crochet yarn amounts when I was buying the yarn so I way over purchased lol). I bought the pattern while watching this video and plan to cast on today 🎉 thanks for sharing!
I'm happy to find you, we have a lot of similar taste. Regarding the red "festive" sweater: I have come to like a product called Cottonwool. Many different brands make a cottonwool. It's 50% cotton, 50% merino, needlesize 3,5-ish. It's rather budgetfriendly and soft. It's a bit "lazy", so not very-very structural, but so nice, and I find myself knitting more and more in this type of yarn. I just bought yarn to make a darkblue dress (my first knitted dress) with orange-red stribes in this yarn. Have a nice knitting, greetings from Denmark!
Hi Marlene! Ooh I'll have to look into cottonwool! Dark blue with orange-red sounds like a lovely and fun color combination too for a knitted dress! Thanks so much for watching, and happy knitting :)
Such ambitious knitting plans!! Thank you for sharing. Please share more info about the beautiful sweater you were wearing. I am hoping to make the ginger sweater by yamagara this year using unspun yarn!
Thank you for watching! Oooh the ginger sweater looks so beautiful, I love all the textures!! Ah I totally meant to talk the sweater I was wearing in the beginning of the video but forgot to! It's the Sunday Sweater by PetiteKnit and I used the Camarose Snefnug in Mork Rosa (it's the yarn called for in the pattern and I omitted the mohair because it was already quite fluffy). I talk about it in episode 1 if you're interested in more detail!!
@@tangerineknits Oh thank you! I missed episode one so I will definitely check it out!! I used to be avid reader as well until I started knitting almost two years ago!😭
@@portialee1885 No problem!! Haha I can totally relate - I didn't even NOTICE for the longest time that I hadn't read in forever - knitting just took over haha!
Great knitting plans! My plan is to finish WIPs and be less overwhelmed by the number of them. Once I do that I’m going to knit Tiree by Isabell Kramer! 🙂
I think we also can have different sensitivities for different body parts. At least for me, there are some yarns I can't stand in a hat or close to my neck, although on my arms, wrists and around the collar bones is fine, so as long as I don't knit a high neck with them it's alright 😊
I’m notsure but i think maybe you have neutral colouring so are lucky you can wear both cool and warm tones, choosing the makeup colours to complement whatever you are wearing. Trinny Woodhall has some great advice on colours x
Thank you! I feel like I'm always flip flopping between thinking I'm warm toned or cool toned based on the tests that I read about online, so perhaps neutral it is 😂
I am also very sensitive to wool, etc so will be watching! I’m also planning to knit a cumulus tee…not sure if I will knit it in a cotton before I try silk?
Hello! A cotton cumulus tee sounds lovely! I used to think that all wool is a no go for me, but am happy to have found some wool yarns that are comfortable next to skin - and also I realized that wearing a shirt under some wool sweaters works ok for me too! Thanks so much for watching!
I wish I was organized enough to actually PLAN knitting... it's one of the things I want to learn to do going forward. In the meantime, I'm working on stashing down all the less fun yarns I stashed obsessively when I was first learning to knit (I acquired a LOT of really mediocre yarns, mostly acrylic, or just odd amounts without a plan because they were on sale). I've been grabbing one out of the stash and then just figuring out a project for it, and either donating, giving as a gift, or figuring out where it's going to live. I think that's kind of necessary before I get heavily into the planning stage, because there's an EMBARASSING amount of yarn & fiber in my house.
I can relate with having a massive amount of old mediocre yarn! I definitely have an "actual" stash of fibers I have plans to knit up, and a bunch of old acrylic and "craft" yarn that I grabbed on sale from when I was weaving/crocheting more - those still come in handy for a home decor project every now and then, but they don't get used too often and take up a huge amount of space compared to my "actual" stash ha! That's a good idea to grab from stash one at a time and deciding its fate! Part of my goal in planning knitting is: hmmm how to use up all this yarn I have hahaha
I call it 'Swedish Death Crafting'. I have so much stuff for sewing, knitting, making, et cetera stashed, it's ridiculous. I would not blame my heirs for making a huge pyre of it all, tossing my remains on top (with all due reverence of course) and setting it all ablaze! Alas, as I have no arsonists among my descendents, I suppose I should just try to use it up.
Thank you! It's the Sunday Sweater by PetiteKnit! I knitted it using Camarose Snefnug in Mork Rosa - it's the yarn called for in the pattern but I omitted the mohair! I totally meant to mention it at the start of the video but I forgot haha. I do talk about it more in episode 1 if you're interested in more details!!
@@tangerineknits I haven't decided. I am thinking about something like Friday knit's Daphne top but make it a dress. I know oshenknits has dress pattern that's kind of like that but I feel like her pattern doesn't look the best on smaller chests
The pure silk looses its shape/stretches quiet easily, so I don’t think it would be worth it to use for the dress. You’re going to spend so much time on something that will only look nice for a wear or two before it becomes unflattering and just stretched out
