As many people have said, no need to apologise, you earn the money so it is up to you how you use it. To be honest I think you set a very good example of how to use what you earn wisely.

As a person who is much older than you, and having had anxiety all my adult life, I'm happy that you have found a way to make a good living working within an environment that you feel comfortable. These opportunities on the internet did not exist when I was chasing a career to make a living. The internet is good and bad but we can't ignore the opportunities it gives to people who prefer a small physical scope from which to work from. Greetings from Vancouver Island, Canada.

Never apologize for how you spend your money. It is your money. You earned it. As long as you pay your bills, mortgage, car payment, electricity and so on, you have nothing to apologize for. You dont need to apologize for not being keen on traveling. I retired 3 yrs ago & have no desire to travel. Living in a beautiful area in New England offers me all I need in close proximity to my home. You have a strong connection to nature which is so much more satisfying & brings peace into your life.

I'm with you on the lack of spend on travel! My favourite way to travel to France (or Italy, or wherever takes my fancy) is by reading books written by people who have travelled there / live there, and letting my imagination do the rest. Saves a fortune on plane flights and Diazepam!

Listening to you talk over gentle piano music is very soothing! Also, learning what expenses are for another almost-30yr old home owner in other parts of the world is very interesting... and makes me want to move to Scotland!

You are an inspiration: a very sensible young man with a great sense of humor and clear goals. I'm with you on the travel kick- I prefer to drive to places of natural beauty and vibe as my vacation time. I love the hat you got for Jr. Adorable! All the best to you!

I really appreciate you opening up and sharing your spending with us. My parents are older and haven't really taught me anything about finances. I've been floundering around on my own trying to learn what normal people my age typically spend. It's helpful to see someone else's usual budget.

Hi George, I didn't realise that Council Tax in Scotland includes the water bill! Amazing value compared to England, it's a separate bill.

As an adult, you don't owe anyone an explanation of how you spend your funds. I will say, am sure your parents ought to be proud of raising such a responsible young man. I am impressed that you live a fairly healthy lifestyle and have an eye towards the future.😊

Gosh George I’d love to hear how you make $100 worth of groceries last a month. That’s amazing! Also, you live in a beautiful country rich with history and many gorgeous places to explore, plus the added bonus of no apex predators to worry about in nature! I wouldn’t feel the need to travel much if I lived there either. I used to love traveling and then something happened that left me with (at times) crippling anxiety. It’s very hard to enjoy or even take in new places when your body is in high alert mode. France isn’t going anywhere. If and when you’re ready, France, its baguettes and dizzying repertoire of cheeses will be waiting for you.

Being somewhere that feels like home, including nature, and having no desire to travel spells contentment. I have had what most people tell me is the amazing chance to travel anywhere in the world over the past 4 months, and all I want is basically what you have. I just haven't found the place where I feel home yet, so I continue my search. It isn't just you. Flying freaks most people out, but they don't have consciousness of it. People who are sensitive (me... and you?) are the ones who end up empathing the subconscious freak-out of the plane-full and having a miserable flight. Over time, I have learned how to stay more in my own frequency bubble, but I still feel the ick of every flight I am on. You are super normal to me in every way, and if you don't want or need to travel, I say don't without apology!

I think you're living your best life, George. 🙂 Do more of what makes you happy.

I get your aversion to travel, it can be super stressful and the places you mentioned, in the UK, are wonderful spots for a closer-to-home holiday. That said I've been all over the world travelling myself and loved it. Horses for courses. If everyone liked the same things it would be an incredibly dull world, wouldn't it? Made me laugh when Junior walked in front of the screen. My three cats love to do that as soon as I start having a video meeting for work. I saw one colleague at a face-to-face meet-up one time and he said, 'I didn't recognise you without the cats!' 🤣🤣🤣

George, I’m just flabbergasted at how cheap living expenses are in Scotland. I’m Canadian, even taking into consideration the exchange rate EVERYTHING is more here 😮 A LOT more. Now I’m sad.

I've been abroad, but usually at the behest of, or to visit, other people. I've never really had the wanderlust. We live in one of the world's most beautiful countries, George. No real need to go anywhere else. 👌

Do what makes you happy and spend your money how you like as long as you live within your means which you seem to do. I'm an really anxious traveller too and basically albino so get your points about not enjoying the sun but I hope your anxiety isn't holding you back from travelling if it's something you'd like to do but feel unable to. There are other options like trains, going in the cooler months or to less popular areas if you want a calm experience. Wish you the best!

In my case I enjoy flying and travel (and love the 'game' aspect of collecting points and miles to make it more affordable!) but totally appreciate that's not the same for everyone and the UK is a lovely place to travel round so enjoying that and spending your money on other things you enjoy sounds eminently sensible to me 👍👍🙂

Thank you for sharing your expenses - it seems groceries are less expensive where you are. Well done for investing in Junior - love the little hats I am like you, I prefer much more to go on beach and rainforest walks where I live in northern Australia than have any holidays overseas or even own flash cars, lots of shoes, jewelry, clothes etc because I find these so very irrelevant in my life. My social life also includes weekly hospital visits for cancer treatments, therefore I am quite busy that way. *I tell about you to a lot of people and hope you will hit your billion subscribers sooner than you think and fullfil your dream*

Yeah, I don't really like traveling anymore. I was in a long-distance relationship for 2 years, and I was usually the one traveling because of our respective responsibilities. It was fun for a while, but it just got to be enough, and I made the move. We would travel to see our family about twice a year. I became more introverted over the years and prefer to make my home as nice or nicer than hotels so that I want to stay home, thus saving money. I like car trips, I grew up often driving to see family in different parts of the country. I love our van that we can put a mattress in for camping in or just having a comfortable safe space to retreat to, as well as being able to move furniture or materials for family or projects. I absolutely love picking up our parents and taking them to a play/musical or an escape room, or whatever. It feels like returning some of the countless rides they've given us growing up. Also, as a disabled person, being able to take a shower chair or my walker, or possibly my wheelchair just in case I need it, is amazing. I keep a cane in the van all the time just in case, but I try not to push my body too hard.

Thank you for this video, it is open and honest, and made me feel much less anxious about my monthly budget. Although I noticed you spend very little on food! … I believe eating organic, local if possible and diet including fish and no gluten has really helped me be less anxious as more antioxidants and oils keep everything in a optimal state. So if anything I’m feeling like you could allow more budget for enjoying good healthy food. ❤

I am full aware you have stated you have anxiety, and do not like travel. But, have you ever watched "The Chateau Diaries" with Stephanie? I think if you took your anxiety meds, and spent a weekend at her chateau which is in the French countryside itself, with its own land to walk about on. That may possibly be something you could travel once to do for a long weekend, like arriving on a Thu night, and leaving Monday prior to noon. Just something to consider. By the way, the cowboy hat on Jr. is the greatest thing I ever saw, so cute! You should buy him a cat jumper with like a Texas sports club or something Texas on it or a western movie theme or something, that would be adorable.

I mean do exactly what you feel like! But you know other countries have others seasons than summer right? ;) There’s lots of times and places to go without a lot of sun/heat and people. Since you’re blessed with being on the European continent, I can also recommend just taking your car and driving at your own pace. Making the journey the destination, instead of flying. Europe is very accessible by car, especially since you don’t want to go into cities. Have a look into Switzerland and Austria - beautiful places to drive through, and many places to stop for walks or hikes. There’s also many otherwise hotter places more southern that are great in October-November or April-May, for less sun/heat. Like Italy or Spain. I’d also recommend the Netherlands in late spring or late summer for you if you like green, or even colder times if you don’t mind leafless trees. Going around the cities by bike or train is wonderful there, and many places are a lot more quiet and peaceful than other similar towns/cities in other countries. There’s lots of gorgeous villages out in the countryside too, and lovely natural parks to leisurely bike in. Again you live your life like it suits you, but if you are curious about seeing a bit more of the world, I think it’s absolutely possible to do it in a way that suits your interests and mentality. Holidays doesn’t just mean frying in the hot sun on the French Riviera or flying to Paris and drowning in people. There’s a whole world out there 🌍

Hi, this was really interesting to watch as I also calculated my finances after buying my first flat a few months ago! I also feel like you spent your money wisely. If you don´t enjoy travelling to other countries, you don´t have to. :) You can also watch videos about them or read about them. As you said you enjoy watching videos from other countries on youtube. :) But maybe you will enjoy them in the future, who knows. I had anxiety during flights for a few years, then it went away all of a sudden. :)

Absolutely understand buying your cat a cowboy hat. I have a black and white cat, and I saw a cow hat, and bought it for her. I then bought a red bandanna and a $35 USD cowboy hat for her brother, a black cat, so together they would be a cow and a cowboy. 0 regrets. Their 1st Halloween I bought a craft pumpkin and painted it with chalkboard paint, and I used to have more fun with it drawing and redrawing faces and patterns on it with chalk pastels. I started a tradition where I took a Halloween picture with them and the pumpkin saying it's their _th Halloween. Last year was their 8th and I made it look like a magic 8 ball. 2 weeks ago we took in a new cat, so I think I'll just write the year on it now. Next year, we'll have a small human to start using the pumpkin, too.

I make $128/week as an intellectually disabled American it took me eight months to find a job on Vocational rehabilitation services here in the US only to get denied every single time when I disclosed my disability. I got sick and tired of waiting for the employers here to take me seriously so started as well on my own making videos so I made an income off that while I waited for a job opportunity to not disability discriminate. Found a job but it only gives limited hours and I only get $126/week so yeah I'm not taking that as acceptable and making a way for myself making videos. It's sad that social media creation pays more than employers claiming "Nobody wants to work" and many people like me are resorting to it.

I hate spending money on holidays. There’s always so much hype then you get back and it’s pretty quickly forgotten and you feel worse than before you went. And you are expected to take your family with you, as the primary domestician there is nothing relaxing about this. Plus I don’t do well in heat so the UK is just fine for me, in fact I need to move to Scotland.

Like the others I saw, I think it's not offensive or controversial to like what you like and pursue things that make you happy and healthy. One thing I did see missing was any mention of retirement savings or planning. Certainly your priorities are investments, but wondering what vehicles are available for people in Scotland that are similar to the IRA and 401K plans (among others) that are available to people in the US, for example. I really enjoy your channel 😊
