Having tested the best photo gear in the world, I like how the new wideo is so lo-fi. Nobody really cares about IQ and noise or even focus. It's all about content and the person.
Borderlands I dunno, I could have done with Lok's face being in focus rather than the distant background in some of those skateboard shots :) Fun video, though
I can only guess that he didn't have to buy his own for a few years since he could just borrow something from the DRTV equipment. Why buy your own when you can use the company stuff. Plus they used that daily to make content so they know how to use it well I suppose.
Kai gets so much attention because he has a very "loud" and energetic personality. Lok, you and your content are unique in your own way, and we love that too. I hope you gain subscribers quickly and I look forward to what you're going to do!
Me too! I tried to get a skateboard for transportation a few years back. Then I fell and destroyed my hands. Put the skateboard on craigslist the very next day! Not recommenced, haha (unless your city is VERY flat)
so true, I bike everywhere around campus on a 30 year old Schwinn that I maintain. Gotten to the point where I can do it with both hands free like 80% of the time....maybe I should become the bike vlogger :D hahaha
We got your back, Lok. Hardcore/Longtime DRTV fans got nothing but LOVE for you, Alamby, Kai and even Asuka, Rita, Ian, Warren and the rest of the guys, even the BloodyProducer. We're all excited for you man. Keep them videos coming! All The Best!
already did that buddy. no worries, we will cover your back. you make great videos and the more videos you put out the more you will grow. I will definitely support you Lok. heads up and always look ahead mate.
So the thing about you and Kai that worked so well for DRTV is that watching you guys, together or separate, is like hanging out with a friend and talking about photography and gear... you don't talk down to people, you don't set yourself up as some guru, you're just relatable, knowledgeable, and entertaining to learn from. Basically you can make any content you want and I'm going to watch it because I enjoy your presence and your thoughts on things.
So glad you made this RU-vid channel Lok, you're an absolute legend. It would have been terrible if leaving DigitalRev had meant we lost you on RU-vid forever. I'm very excited to see what you will do here. I have to also say that I really love seeing more of Hong Kong, I loved that in the earlier DigitalRev videos, which while they were less 'professional' were more 'real' in the sense that you got to see a lot of what it's like out there. I'm from the UK and have never visited, although it's one of the places I'd most like to visit because of you and Kai.
Lok....you were as much digital rev tv as Kai was in my opinion so of course we want to follow all that you do. Good luck with everything you do in the future.
I've been watching you and Kai for years, and I truly appreciate the effort that you both took to make quality videos. It's nice to know that you're still around, Lok.
More like this video, Lok! I can't wait to see what adventures you get yourself into now that the future is a blank canvas just waiting for that first brush-stroke ;) 10/10
Let's face it Kai is a star but like any comedy double act he has to bounce off somebody. Well none of the others have come close. The Gold standard is still Kai, Lok and Alambi. I am sure you will do fine love. I am expecting and looking forward to some cross world linkups between You and Kai; when you two start bantering there is nothing else like it on RU-vid and I am sure your own solo content will be great ;-)
Gotta agree, I'd love to see them together but also in their own videos doing their own thing, being free and happy. Each have their own personality which is why we love them, together they help bring out everyone's own fantastic personality and flavour
Lok for the last couple of years I've always weighed your opinion fairly heavily and whenever I could find a resource from you for a question I had I would find it. I look forward to learning more about cameras and videography from you and I hope you do well no matter what you choose to do!
Lok, you're awesome, and the title just makes you more so. You keep being you, and don't worry about recording vlogs on the iPhone, people will still watch even if you're a little out of focus. :)
I love to watch Kai's videos as much as yours! Come on my friend!, you are amazing, and people are supporting you! You've got more than 40k followers and you are not even trying
nice video. The board is okay but I think a bike would be quicker. I would suggest getting a cheap used bike for the train station and then later a good one for nice rides.
I know what ya mean but it just depends. For me, I ride my bike to work everyday. The bike I ride is a decent bike, but it's old, built in 1997, and I paid $70 a few years ago. If or when it gets stolen I won't mind too much because of course the investment was so small. But cheap doesn't always mean bad. In fact this same bike I ride all the way across Switzerland last year, nearly 500km in 5 days. On the other hand I have expensive bikes too, but they get used for recreation.
Lok Cheung get a used affordable quality bike. They are not low quality, they aren't expensive, they don't look expensive but they are reliable and get the job done.
DerSystematiker yeah you said it better then I did. Another thing about not spending a lot on a bike for that use is you don't have to spend so much time securing it. When I stop at the store in the city I just do a quick lock around the rim or around something else that might be around. But I don't have to spend a lot of time and I don't have to worry much about it.
We love watching you too Lok! You and Kai were DRTV and it's your personalities that made the content the quality that it was. Please keep making videos Lok!
You're the best Lok. I stopped liking Kai after he intentionally drove a bicycle into a camera bag, and then laughed about it. I'm elated that you're still around. I look forward to watching and learning from your wideos.
i have to be honest, when you started to become more prominent on the DRTV videos i wasn't completely sold on you on account of your "shyness" but it was so great seeing you becoming more confident in front of the camera. i surprisingly really enjoyed this WideoLog, keep up the good work
Glad I found your “Wideo” blog Lok! Subscribed. You are rapidly closing in on 50K subs so I don’t think you have any worries. You will find your niche and do great I am sure! Looking forward to hearing more from you.
Dear Lok, I admire your hard work and I am sure it will pay off. It was interesting to see where you live and another side of Hong Kong that we have not seen in previous Digitalk Rev videos. I understand what not having a plan means, but grabbing every opportunity. I think you are doing the right thing. I like the skateboard, why don't you take it with you? its so small. Regarding bikes, take it from me as a Copenhagener, you should opt for a good anonymous no.name bike that doesn't stand out too much. I tried the fancy racers, fixies and muountain bikes, they get stolen, are uncomfortable or just plain junk. A good Everton, Centurion or any supermarket brand bike will do you fine. Second hand might be even better. Great job on the iphone video. Good luck.
+Hanzilla75 Nah don't fancy taking the skateboard with me, have you notice how many times I have to change line at the train system? Too bloody crowded in HK too!
I understand. I was in Hong Kong for the first time 2 years ago around this time of year. I managed to find some good second hand gear at HK Camera. I only had 36 hours but it was amazing. Would be great to see some vlogs from you about living there. I am also a keen Olympus / Panasonic M43 user and hope to get a G80/85 for christmas. Would you get one of those for your vlog?
I still don't understand why don't you guys team up and start a project. You keep saying Kai has a lot of this and that but it's your chemistry with him that made a lot of people tune in Digital Rev every day. I support both of you of course, it's just feels weird sometimes, best of luck!!!
The EP-2, same innards as EP-1 was used to film some of the scenes in the starting gate in the film 'Secretariat' it's 720 small HD video. The main problem with those cameras is 10 minute max per clip, and no way to check your framing by turning the screen toward yourself.
An 80D is much bettwe, but I would prefer a unified kit that is light we ight. If Olympus or Panasonic m4:3 does it, that might be a better choice. Or even a GoPro. But Lok should know about the gear.
Lok, I actually started watching DRTV when you were the only one hosting. Your vids got me hooked and Kai and the rest of the team were bonus! Subscribed to you immediately when I found out you left and I'll watch any content you produce! Thanks for all your efforts! :)
Well, it's true that when you usually get all of that stuff for free at work or for reviewing purpose, you hardly think to buy one for yourself unless you want to keep a line up of all the new releases of those stuff... Specially when you are all the time busy with your work cameras, it's very unlikely you will ever use your own camera. Specially when reviewing something, you don't keep the product at the office, you keep it along all the time and use it as your primary device (camera or smartphone these days).
You and Kai were and are two of my favorite video/photography people to watch. I actually thought YOU guys were DigitalRev, so I dropped them. Keep posting and developing your own voice!
while you're waiting for next best thing, do some vloggings !! too many vlogging from westerners and not local.. (a local we understand!!)... penny board is awesome!!! Is that kitchen behind your room? damn.. chaining your penny board.. lol...
Haha I was too like "Is he chaining his penny board?!", but then I saw that the chain goes between the truck. So if anyone would want to steal it, they would need to loosen the nut first.
Tell you Lok, it is easy to operate youtube. And after building a million subs channel, you know what you need. A girl~ Once you have girls in your videos, you will see your subs skyrocket like crazy. Trust me I did my research.
Loved it. I think this is what RU-vid used to be, or should be. It was nice follow just a common day, out of what DR used to be. We just didnt see much of you on DR, though, yet you look more confident on your own. Looking forward to your channel.
