I think it's SO important to talk about post-grad blues.... I feel like I'm the opposite of everyone, I worked full-time throughout college so the idea of graduating and not having SO much on my plate was so exciting & I was honestly excited to just work a 9-5 and not balance everything else.... But I feel like I'm the rare exception LOL.... also YES to not using your major... me with my useless psychology degree hahahahhahahha
I love Michelle Reed too. Been watching her videos since January 2020. My first job was in accounting but have been working 20 years in a credit union. Have learned a lot in different areas. Despite that, I am tired and wonder what else can I do with my life. I remember feeling life like such a routine after graduating. My besties moved to the states and I (the one born and raised in NY) am still in PR. I have been walking at the track during the week with my little girl, to make my work week meaningful. Helps a lot plus waking up before 5:30am (only week days) 😉
Agreed with everything you said about post grad life. I call the first year out of college my blue period lol but I actually really enjoyed living at home and figuring out adult life. Like you, I was a finance major and don’t use it. But I’m so glad I got my degree because I learned so much more! Love your vlogs 💕
I am so tired everyday to wake up early to go to work but unfortunately that's the way it is. If you are not born with a sliver spoon and not work you'll ended up poor and not going to pay all the bills and it won't stop. I resigned thinking that I am happy not doing anything will help me get over depression but I was wrong. Looking forward to work in an office with a nice view. Lol God bless and I am so encouraged with your vlogs and excited to have new work soon.
Loved this video! Being someone who’s been in the working world a few years now, my advice to my younger self would be, if you are at a job where you have colleagues and a boss who treat you right and support you and are kind, do not take it for granted, even when the work might seem boring at times. Sadly that is not the case in most jobs. I think it’s much more important WHO you work with than WHAT you work with. You could have the dream job but be surrounded by toxic people and it will make daily life so difficult. Btw, would you say that devotional is worth getting? Thinking of it. Thanks.
Post college transition blues are so so real, I still get them almost a year in. So excited for your Italy trip and can't wait for the vlogs and photos 😍
I can only speak for myself, but my transition from university to full-time work was actually quite easy. I worked part-time during my college/university days (in order to pay my tuition), so whenever I wasn't at school, I was at work. That all ended when I graduated and found a full-time office job. I didn't have to stress over where I should be anymore or what time my part-time retail shift started or ended anymore. I knew when I was supposed to be at work and I knew when I was supposed to be at home. There were clear boundaries, y'know?
@@RachelVinn It felt awesome at the time, but now I'm pretty sick of the 9-5 haha! I turn 40 in May 2022, so hopefully I can retire soon *fingers crossed*
I have curly hair, and I don't like them 😅 I love your straight ones, seeing you curling your hair makes me wonder that really the grass is always greener on the other side !;)🥰
How do you manage fatigue throughout the day? I struggle a lot and couldn’t go through the work day without a nap 🥶 I recently just moved from 5 to 4 days and it makes a difference having a “reset” day in between midweek x
you know the feeling that "all you need is do devotion/journal" but having a hard time to pick up the bible and just be alone with God? that's me right now 😥 i know that's the reason why i feel frustrated about life in general. I need to make that as my meaningful task today.
I found you through that video you plugged at the end, and have been watching every video of yours since! You're my new fave lifestyle vlogger, I just graduated in May and started working 9-5. Love how authentic your content is.
The rat race life is NOT normal, and working till you die is NOT normal either. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!! Learn to invest, grow a business, outsource tasks you don't like, go live your life.
As much as I agree with you about not using our major for work being normal, I still think it's just wrong in hindsight. Yes we still get priceless experiences during our college days, but to spend an incredible amount for something that you won't use in the future is such a huge loss and ppl be turning a blind eye on that. Heck, sometimes we use the non-academic experiences in college more in our work. It's unfortunate that we have to follow it just so we can qualify for a job that won't even use our major for work. In other words, the school system is wack.
I absolutely agree with the "living for the weekends" thing, it's a very unhealthy mindset to have! I try to fight that by waking up early and doing my morning routine, it takes away the feeling of "all I do is work"
Love your encouraging words / reminder at the end - Sometimes I forget that this life is temporary and that I should be really looking forward to that day when we will be reunited with our Creator ❤️
I thought my collage days were way harder then the work life. In collage I went to school from 7 to 12:10 then to work from 2 - 8p.m. I was STRESSED but I'm happy now because I only work 7:30- 4 . I have time to take care of myself.
Oh, so true that when you said that: "you may not use your major" In my opinion, it can be difficult to accept that reality but sometimes it's just something else you gotta do. Besides that, we should'nt restrict ourselves to "not to do something else" maybe you'll be even better
1. everything you said about transitioning to life post-grad “mundane life, not being able to wake up when you want” is soooo true. I’ve definitely struggled with it, even now 2 years later… 2. Love the mindset of doing meaningful tasks during the weeknights is SO GOOD. 3. The closing words of wisdom you shared is everything ❤️ I appreciate that you clarified that finding our hope in God doesn’t mean we will have the “picture perfect” peace and joy that is portrayed in mainstream media.
Nice vlog! Your dilemma about the house painting is the best😁 Among all the million of similar tones, I wish you to find a right one! As for the transition from college to full-time job, I agree with all your points. It's really important to explore yourself, your interests, talents and aspirations, otherwise adult life would be really hard on you. And also my advice is not to think that some job is impossible to achieve. In my case it was a movies translator. All my life I've liked movies, TV series, and I wanted to be connected to it somehow. My English was not bad at school, so I decided to get a linguist (translator) degree, and then through trial and error I started translating all kinds of TV series from English into Russian professionally. It took time and efforts, but I did it, and now I'm doing my best to be a better specialist. In conclusion I say that, in my opinion, adult life is much more interesting and real. It is the time when you can truly find yourself and learn yourself better. It's a big development!
Amazing vlog - wish I heard that advice before graduating. I would add that it's ok (normal even) to not get your dream job out of school. Until you've worked in an industry it's hard to know what you like/dislike. Your early 20's should be a time to learn and grow - if it's not the right fit don't be afraid to pursue a new opportunity! Love the chat at the end, too. Rachel is a real one, ya'll! 🌿
Wow i just discovered you this week and you are my favourite youtuber. So sincere and I love that I’m able to connect with you on my faith. God is sharing wisdom through you. Thank you for inspiring me.
Your vlogs always inspire me ........ How is that your fashion , family , work, household work and mental health on point ....... I always struggle with balancing all of that .
I have been trying to make my workdays not just about work, and this has greatly improved my mood and my relationship with my husband. I loved the taupe color, and I look forward to seeing the final decision.
Hi rach have a suggestion can you if possible add subtitles there is a friend of mine who wants to subscribe to your channels but is finding it hard sometimes due to the lack of autogenerated subtitles like this one it's not working just a suggestion .
Omg that white ruffle top is so damn cute 😍😍Thank you for sharing your job responsabilities. I would love to see more career-related videos on your channel (discussing salary, etc). I can relate to your story. I have an engineering degree but I'm now working in digital marketing and I loooove it 🤩
Not sure where my original comment went but the claw clip is on Claire's and Icing's websites and is called the double tooth hair claw. I try to do 2 meaningful tasks a day, usually either taking my dog on a hike or working out, and reading or embroidery.
Happy Monday Rachel! ❤️ I love your vlogs because they are so real. I am currently working a 9-5 job, while finishing up my bachelors in finance. I have little time to do anything throughout the work week, but I always try to go for a walk after work before starting my homework. I hope you have a great work week!! ❤️❤️
I'm in the process of starting to go to the gym everyday. I'm in between jobs right now so I'm using this time to get in the habit of going to the gym. So far so good! I'm going to go this evening
Wow thank you about all you talked on this video! I just graduated from college and I’m feeling like down sometimes, thank you for your advices, I felt calm ☀️🙌🏽
i absolutely agree about the "major" thing. i graduated with an accounting degree and i am planning to shift into healthcare (nursing/medical transcription). I guess I'll save money first before actually pursuing what I'm passionate about. Also, I really appreciate your words at the end. you are truly an inspiration, Rachel
I really love ur vlogs cause they’re so real and reflect real life. We all watch vlogs on far from reality just for show off. So your vlogs feels me like that i am not alone to living normal, routine but meaningful and happy. Thanks and please keep going in this way:)
I love watching your videos each week and they are such good motivation for me at work!! ❣️ I always have a hard time curling my hair with ones that have the clamp but I think you did pretty well for the first time!
I love your vlogs!! You're such an honest and beautiful person, inside out :) it is so inspiring how you put God's love and word in your day-to-day business and "mundane" day life. Be blessed
