I just finished reading the final chapter of this book and...I LOVED IT! Seriously, everything about the book just filled me with so much joy; it was like eating a freshly baked cinnamon roll on a cold day
Exactly. Accurate description. The book is for someone who wants to do a light reading...cozy read. The characters are likeable and while there isn't a heavy plot. It will help you get through a reading slump. It's like drinking coffee in the morning or tea in the afternoon.
This is a really good idea for a video series! I definitely agree that proper expectations can help the overall enjoyment of the books I pick up. I have already read this one and loved it!
I need to disagree with the ‘ no life and death’ comment- something happens at the end that’s pretty major and traumatic and scaring. Without spoilers. And also the world building isn’t ‘lite’ - the language the author uses is part of the world, It’s so rich in depth and character. We may not get ‘descriptions’ of the world, but we hear it in how they talk, It’s pulls you right into the world. This has become a favourite book and I’m hunting for more like it.
I just read it a few weeks ago and I agree with everything you say about it. The plot struck me as similar to certain other books involving bringing "modern" advances into a fantasy world, like A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, and some of the Discworld books, like Going Postal or Making Money, where it's just about watching progress being made.
I am looking forward to given this book a listen and then adding it to my rotation of audiobooks I play to help me fall asleep. It sounds perfect for that and I could use a few more audiobooks for this purpose.
If I would have watched this video before reading the book I wouldn’t have read it. I’m glad I didn’t watch this video before reading the book because it’s one of my favorite books of all time. 😅
