I just took a Virgin Cruise for the first time just a month ago and it was amazing. The first thing I would tell anyone is to get to know the Virgin App in and out as most of all the information is on it you just have to know where to navigate it to find it. Can't believe you did not see the pajama and scarlet night on your first Cruise....lol. We had so much fun on those nights that really connected us to so many people that made our trip a huge success. The entertainment was different but did fit the style of the Cruise. There is also a secret invite that only selected passengers are invited by a certain staff member and we were lucky to be part of it and it was awesome and special to be part of it!! We are not supposed to say what it was so just be the lucky one and you will find out....Hint...you have to have a fun outgoing personality and you may be selected!
Remember to have your name on your luggage via a personal luggage tag when you drop it off in the event the tag the porters attach is ripped off in transport to your cabin.
@@UpUpOurWay it's not easy to find the information. MSC will only give a membership number if you have an account (previous cruise taken) with them. If you know another way, let me know please. I have memberships with Celebrity and RCCL but, they are basic ,but have Gold with Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott.
Different people have different tastes. For me, I loved the entertainment. That was my favorite thing about the cruise. Very different than other cruise lines. Everything was immersive. I loved it.
You’re so right, it’s very subjective. It was very different for sure and I can see that some might enjoy the artistic expression. Also, we didn’t see all of the shows so we may have liked others we missed.
You don’t understand why everybody thinks it’s a “party ship”? Literally Every.Single.Commercial from Virgin shows “beautiful people having wild parties”. I’m 63. Not beautiful. Non-drinker, non-partier. That’s why I’ve never booked.
A great video. We leavevthis Sunday out of Miami. We are headed to Costa Maya Mexico and Bihimi beach Bahamas. 😊. Thank you for a very informative video.😊
We booked 2 weeks in advance and only got 1 dining option we wanted, and I did not really enjoy eating in the cafeteria for all our meals except for the pizza.
upside down pineapples on doors? excuse me??? this might me the most important thing I needed to know about cruising. hahaha. is that a real thing? I´ve done lots of cruising and never seen one lol
EXCELLENT COMMENTARY AND REVIEW!!! Finally, someone giving relevant, intentional, useful information... Look forward to seeing more " things I should know" video on other cruises ❤ Thank you so much!!!
thanks I saved this as I go next year on their ship I'm mid 40's so I want a middle vibe like this is giving and our cruise is only 4 days, I do hope it's better entertainment though on the ship but you gave me a lot of tips to plan for in advance like the luggage tags and dining reservations
Never been on a cruise, but you did an amazing job explaining it. One thing that Is appealing about Virgin is that they are 18 and older… at least they were.
A lot of good tips for people who never went on a cruise. The "cameraman" did a great job with the videos. Please post pics of Enrique in his pajamas at the p.j. party. Did you make videos of the food?
We have more food in our first Virgin video! Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady - What is it REALLY Like on this ADULTS ONLY Cruise Line? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o4LMWc-B8G0.html
Hey guys! Great video! As I’ve now got the cruising bug, we are doing the Virgin Scarlet next year and can’t wait. So regarding the pyjama and scarlet night, that happened on both your cruises with Virgin? 🤔
I feel Like saying “I didn’t know..” gives the impression that the information wasn’t available or hard to find. I’m am genuinely confused about the mentions as Virgin sends out quite a few emails stating what to bring and that there will be a PJ party and Scarlet night. They make it pretty apparent that everything is done through the app, reducing the amount of paper that they print and also informing sailors that they will need to bring a reusable water bottle as they are trying to cut back on the consumption of single-use plastics. Maybe just stating “things I’ve learned from cruising Virgin Voyages “ would be a better title that’s accurate.
I completely agree. I received multiple emails telling me about the events and what clothing to bring, including pjs and red clothing. The reviewer did not read the email. These are things the reviewer didn’t know. Everyone on my cruise had pjs and red clothing for scarlet night.
Virgin has a brunch bar available 24 hours a day, they also have a decent menu room service that is available 24 hours, but there is a surcharge unless you order a paid for drink with it, then its free. But yeah, most of your better free options close up after a certain time.
@@veronicap.8177 there is a bar tab. You usually get additional credit if you put so much on your bar tab. Sailor loot can be used at the shops and other places. Bar tabs are only for drinks
@@UpUpOurWay 50% gay, If it doesn't bother you to watch them play with eachother in the pool area, thats fine. 40% black, that was fine , no problem..We had a man come down every day, no shoes, no shirt , in dirty jeans at dinner..We had partyers running down the hall beating on doors at 2 am..I have pictures of the dress code ..You need no reservations for dinner..I would rate the food a # 5
Thank you Melissa and Enrique for giving it to us anyway. 😁lol! You both did a fantastic job as always. 😎👍 Excellent presentation and great graphics and camera work. I am sure if the raccoons could watch this they would all agree.🦝🦝🦝🦝 5 star review Enrique is already starting the new year off with top camera man of the year performance. 😎👍Be safe! Hope to see you both again soon. ❤
@@UpUpOurWay That is so great to know that you're home safe. Thank you very much for the update. 😎I hope that you both get plenty of good rest for Vegas soon. 😊 ❤
Thank you for your video! My wife and I have already been on the MSC and Costa cruise. Now we are very actively offered Virgin. It was very interesting to learn that Virgin is very different from the others. Please tell us about the restaurants and food. I understand that all restaurants on the cruise are free, but you need to book a place in advance? Also about breakfasts, there is no buffet, but you can also go to any restaurant?
You can make reservations for dinners online 45 days in advance. You might see them book up quickly, but once on board, you’ll connect to their WiFi and can access reservations in the app. They have a lot more open up on embarkation day. There will also be staff helping people who don’t want to use the app on day 1. You can have breakfast in the galley (the non-buffet buffet). Both The Wake and Razzle Dazzle also have breakfast. You need to book in the app but I found tons on availability, even the day of sometimes. You won’t go hungry for sure.
So I signed up for going only because of an travel group I always travel with. I'm not all for nothing that's wild, just want to sail and enjoy the group that I'll be cruising with.
This is also the impression that I have re: Virgin. You’re tied to their app for everything you want to reserve & things get sold out. It’s work! Some you need to reserve before you’re on the ship, as the price is more once you’re onboard, i.e. thermal spa 3 hour pass, On vacation it’s nice to not have to worry about if you will get into fitness classes, shows & certain restaurants. It’s part of their “inclusive” marketing. If it’s Sold Out, it’s not “included.’ I’m going for wellness so fitness classes are wanted! It seems all about branding & your loyalty tier, to be prioritized & have a hassle free cruise!
@@AndreasS.-mh8ti I will say that my first cruise with them I was super stressed out on the first day. We booked on short notice and no restaurants were available on the app. Once on board I had issues connecting to wifi and then I had to stand in a long line to make dinner reservations. It wasn’t the best first impression.
Thank you so much for this it was soooo helpful we are going for our first time on the scarlet lady out of Spain in September. This was so useful and informative!
I hope you have an amazing time! We have a vlog of our European cruise, if interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D-IERG-0LEY.htmlsi=i7QYJ4U341n50ct-
Oh my gosh, I'm halfway through your video and I'm learning so much. I just booked my first virgin cruise line yesterday and I was feeling like I don't really know much of anything. Even when the travel specialist called me. She just was seeing about me booking and if I was getting a good rate but I wish we would have talked more about things like what you listed. The restaurant thing is huge. I remember on carnival you could choose standard span of time but I usually hate it doing that because I didn't know what the activities were. So well I have a little bit of time to look into this to see how I want to do it. Most likely me and my friends will probably be doing our own theme night or dressing up
How do you do the status match? I am having trouble finding how I connect it. We have our first cruise with Virgin next fall Oct 2025 and we have pretty good status with Royal Caribbean... can you point me where I go about doing this?
They just changed their whole program about a month ago and I’m not sure what they’re doing now, but before you could upload proof of status and get free upgraded wifi, free laundry, and $10 coffee credit per day (specialty coffee). And $100 bar tab
Please research each cruise line before you sail. I've sailed on 5 different cruise lines and each are different and you risk missing out on dining options and show options if you don't have the correct information how to reserve them. AND always double check your reservations immediately once you get onboard. I made dinner reservations with one cruise line a couple of months in advance, and didn't check until the day of the specialty dining reservations to see what time they were....and the reservations had disappeared with Customer Service having no record of me making them. Didn't get in and was very disappointed.....and lesson learned.
If you haven’t been on a cruise, you’d be surprised at how little movement you feel. It’s easy to forget that you’re on a ship! When we took my MIL once, she was so concerned. We got her everything we could to help if she did feel sick. She was perfectly fine. And we were at the aft of the ship. Staying mid ship is best if concerned
I’ve been on about 20 cruises and I’ve never had sea sickness even after taking advantage of drink package lol. The interesting part is I’m subject to motion sickness; I can’t ride amusement park rides and I get sick just sitting in passenger seat or back seat of car.
A very thorough roster of tips, Melissa. All very useful but… don’t be quite so politically correct when reviewing the nightlife. Just tell it like it is:… the entertainment basically sucked!
Guess I can't travel. I don't do Apps. I find it just another way to round people up into categories of likes and dislikes. Where I come from...that is nobody's business. I also don't like the artificial Candy Crush looking lights. I wish people would research the damage the blue lights do to your optic nerve/retina. I like the good ole days where there were ice sculptures at every dining station. The Captains dinner was special too. I liked that we could order one of the two selections at dinner time. (at the table) I also liked that they would have an early breakfast, late breakfast a snack time. Then they would have an early lunch, late lunch and a snack hour after. Then there would be early dinner or late dinner and after all that a midnight buffet complete with the beautiful ice sculptures. I also liked the newspaper under the door each night and I also liked the announcements so we didn't miss anything. I guess things were run that way because the cruises were jam packed and not enough dining space if everyone went at the same time. Just looking at the drag queen and everyone clapping???? Say what??? All of the things you mentioned kind of tells me that they are hurting for business. Thanks for sharing Melissa. I just miss the good ole days.
We are going on a Princess Cruise in June. It’s more traditional but they also use an app! But I think we’ll have more of the old ways like in the dining room. We’ll see! I’m sure we will do ship tour
Here's a suggestion about the tags. I would make a generic tag with the cabin # and place it around the handle. So just in case the sticker comes off there is a backup therefore your luggage won't be lost.
