after reading some comments, i wanted to clarify this...I think it could lead to a really interesting convo, and would love to hear peoples thoughts on this!! I copied this from a comment I responded to below, but I think it sums it up. "I think this is a great question/discussion! I will say, I think I could have worded what I said better...What I meant, is that you absolutely can have a blog be your sole business. However, I do think there is a cap on how successful it can be (side note- these are MY personal opinions and I could be 100% wrong haha). For me, I try to diversify my income in as many places as possible. I want to make sure that if Pinterest blocked me or my ad network kicked me out, that I would be completely fine. In my personal opinion, I see my blog being the content/education/marketing platform that will allow me to start another revenue stream. I think where people are taking it differently than what I meant is that you can't solely have a blog and make enough money to sustain yourself. I make well into 5-figures a month on my blog. I could easily live on that for the rest of my life. But I think if you JUST post blog posts and don't expand into courses, products, etc there is a cap you can make on just traditional blog content. Again, we make well into 5-figures a month just on our blog sooo for a lot of people, they are totally fine with that cap. Interested to hear other peoples opinions on this!!

As a marketing major I absolutely agree on your view of a a blog. I think maybe it’s a marketing point of view.

It takes genius like you to share with people real case studies and experiences. Newcomers grow fast by following successful people. We learn from their mistakes and avoid them along the way. Thanks very much for sharing these experiences with us. Keep up with the good work.

I’d love to see what you use for blogging and what you would invest in or upgrade when you can. I’m slowly making money now and would like to start upgrading like my computer, camera, etc but now sure which to do first. 🤔

Hello! I have one question - your bullet point # 5 said everything is going to video. I'm a single mom working on getting my blog/business up and going. With that being said, I recently sold my bedroom furniture set in hopes of buying a camera. My only hesitation now is, should I pay off debt OR invest in a good camera to invest in my business? Just trying to think business minded and NOT be scared to pursue my goals and therefore my dreams. Thank you for all your content. It truly is inspiring.

With #1 you are rigth an 80%. With my blog I have been able to get a lot clients. And I have different ways to monetize it. Courses, selling physical products, having a club, etc. But I also have 2 small blogs or niche blogs and they run only with ads, and I dont want them to be a platform, I Just want them to give me money. So It depends on every one goals. But I also have an ecommerce in my country. Also, have a mobile bar For wedding and parties So for me having Those niche blogs, that only gives me money with ads, is another way to put my eggs in different baskets.

I’ve watched all of your blogging videos and bought your courses, but I haven’t heard you say that blogging is not a sustainable business. Do you really believe that?

This also disappointed/somewhat alarmed me. I have purchased and completed all of her courses( as well as went through and completed all of the course updates that she just released) and no where in any of those updates does she mention this. I understand her own blog is a marketing engine for her interior design firm one day, but she has never ever said that she doesn't believe blogging to be sustainable in her courses, even despite the constant updates on platforms and emphasis on video content. And the whole point of her blogging and pinterest courses are supposed to teach us ways/strategies to build a successful, profitable, and sustainable website/blog of our own, right? She says in this video " I always say that your blog needs to be your marketing engine that fuels your business". I have not ever heard her promote that until right now ( again, I get her blog is a marketing engine for her design firm that she will one day have), but in the courses she literally tells us "your blog is your business".... She also stresses that you will never run out of ideas to post/write about, and while I'm sure that varies from niche to niche, this is the first time I have ever heard her essentially say this. She also teaches in the courses that your blog niche, name, etc.. should be something that is able to grow with you throughout the years( unless you plan on selling it)

@@perfectingblogging wow thank you very much for taking the time to explain/clarify! I was talking to my bf about it actually and we kind of figured this is along the lines of what you meant, but thank you for clarifying! I definitely understand better now/am wondering less about this info in relation to the info in the courses!
