My prediction is if europeans and middle easterners maintained a trade relationship with Africa but did not colonise it, then coastal kingdoms would have become very wealthy and powerful, to the point where they would begin colonising the interior, probably enslaving the populations there to work on plantations or sell to european and arab slave traders (yes, the european and arab slave trade could have easily occurred without colonialism). Africa today might be in a similar situation to Europe and Africa are, with the coastal kingdoms having lost their colonies in the interior thanks to independence movements and political pressure, but these former colonies are still poor and less developed. That's just my alt history idea anyway. I think those who paint this idea that Africa without colonialism would be some egalitarian utopia where all cultures and peoples are equally respected are being disingenuous, it wasn't before colonialism, so I think there's no reason to suspect it would be without it. Africa would have to go through the same struggles other parts of the world did to get as close to that point as the modern world has.

Who do you think enslaved every negro ever sold for transport to the Moslem subjugated lands in the Middle East and North Africa, or those shipped off to the Caribbean, South, Central and later North America?
@user-ms9nx5gt5u
@user-ms9nx5gt5u 23 дня назад
only that when portugal arrived to Africa, Africa had nothing to trade 😂 That's why they took in slaves. Africa is still poor today not because of colonization but because of other reasons.
@Croz89
@Croz89 23 дня назад
@@user-ms9nx5gt5u I wouldn't say that. Slaves, precious metals, some manufactured goods and foodstuffs could all be acquired from central Africa, which was generally poorer and more atomised than the coasts, mainly consisting of a lot of isolated tribes not far off a bronze age tech level. For coastal kingdoms with access to European military technology, it would have just as easy to subjugate them as it was for the Europeans.

@@africashistorychannel I think timing was also a key factor here. Take a look at Africa politically in the 15th - 17th centuries. What made them so vulnerable to European colonizers in the first place?

With so many different cultures, it simply would have happened the same as everywhere in the world while the europeans were absent. Wars. We can take the history of america with the inkas, mayas, azteks, sioux and many other cultures as reference, empires rised and fall. The same as in asia happened, its simply in human nature and nothing unique to one continent.

The " colonisers" (invaders) never came to to murder rape rob kidnap and enslave Africans for the Africans benefit you are talking shit. On genocide the Belgians murdered half the people in the Congo ( at least ten million people). The Germans murdered 80% of the people in what is now Namibia they started genocide in Africa then perfected it against the Jews.
