AT&T did not invent the transistor. Bell invented the transistor got split up and became a few modern carriers eg Verizon, at&t. By their logic Verizon invented the transistor.

Although the photoelectric effect was discovered in the early 1800s, later in that century work had already begun on early solar cells. The “modern” solar cell was developed by BELL LABS in 1954. AT&T divested and spun off Bell Labs to form Lucent Technologies in 1996. AT&T claiming they “invented” solar technology today is laughable. It’s like some spoiled rich kid taking credit for the wealth his grandfather built and left him in his will. AT&T is a hallowed out shell of what it was. Today’s AT&T is incapable of this type of innovation.
