Have you ever tried a "What if the Mexican Empire survived?". A habsburg empire in America with a hostile U.S. could be an interesting ally to flip for germany in the early 20th century.
@@Videntis.History Yes of course. I'm not sure how much help I could be, lacking experience. I just think the internal politics of the briefly lived Mexican empire could be an interesting subject. You had of course the Habsburg legacy of Maximilien, the french influence of Napoleon III but also a contingent of belgian civil servant that came with Charlotte and had influence in the state affairs. There are many conflicting interests to balance in the empire. Basically you could have Maximilian winning the war before 1870 with the Republicans exiling in the U.S. but when Napoleon III falls, Maximilian is without a backer with a menacing United States to the north. I don't know how much diplomacy would be by him giving how much of a dillettante he was and how much would be from his wife. Essentially they would need a strong european ally/patron. Depending on who that ends up being it could alter the balance in Europe as it could force the U.S. to align with the enemies of the power that seeks influence in America. WW1 could even start not even because of some foolish thing in the Balkans but some foolish thing on the Rio Grande and spread to Europe from there. Also a comment about the Bavaria video. It's a great scenario but given how advantageous the Peace treaties are to France, don't you think the UK would protest and maybe try to sabotage things, or get some additionnal concessions elsewhere?
What if the Crusades were called earlier? Context: During the reign of Eastern Roman Emperor John Tzimiskes, he campaigned into Lebanon and Palestine and could’ve reconquered Jerusalem but withheld due to fear of backlash from the Muslim world. So I figured what if the emperor in this scenario had the backing of the entire pre-schism Christian world?
Not sure why Prussia was left out of this equation. It had a very large Prussian Lithuanian population who would have supported reunification with Lithuania given this Germany's implosion and weakened state
Would Persia still fall in this timeline? If you don't have the Byzantines be exhausted by decades of war at the time, the persians wouldn't be so weak either. You could have an interesting state of affairs where an arabian empire extending through southern mesopotamia is essentially a buffer state between Byzantium and the Sassanids. And the region becomes tri-polar with a balance of power.
Genuinely and surprisingly a really good and Well researched video. I Think this might be one of my favourites! I would love for you to do more on the german World.
What if Alexandr III. never became Tsar of Russia and marriage one of his mom court ladies as hi plan before meet his future wife where was previesly bethrote to his older brother Nikolaj and left throne to his younger brother Vladimir. I think that this have large impact to history becose Alexandr was very conservative and abolish many reforms of his father where was reformist and this start questin if Vladimir set on throne and live that long as in real history it Is posible that his rule preveile fall of Russian Empire
2:54 There's an error with the map here. You are showing Birkenfeld (the small exclave north of the Palatinate) as Bavarian, but it was actually part of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, so it would be part of Germany here.
I guess in this timeline the protestant people of Nuremberg and its surrounding Middle Franconia might be trying to secede, considering they weren't a part of Bavaria for quite a lot of Time during the HRE.
Here’s one I would love to see! What if Hannover wasn’t conquered by Prussia? I know it’s a stretch and less unrealistic than Bravia remaining independent. But if Hannover remained independent it would mean the Deutsches KaiserReich could never really be formed.
@@Videntis.History It was a rebellion in 1857 against the EIC( British East India company) It’s a rather overlooked war and is often called the biggest colonial challenge any empire faced. It’s a really interesting topic. Hope you make a video on that. It was an option on one of the google forms you sent out about alt histories.
The north of Bavaria is protestant and former Prussian lands. That would greatly destabilize Bavaria as an independent country. As the north also was the economic powerhouse.
I don’t think the Beer Hall Putsch would’ve happened in this timeline, because one of the reasons Hitler went to Bavaria was because it was in the German Empire. He likely would’ve went to a different part of Germany if Bavaria was independent
Video Idea What if the act of union that bounded scotland and england never happened That way the kingdoms never unify but stay in a personal union. Possibly making the scots want independence earlier Taking into acount just how important scotland really was for england it can make quite a diference
W timeline, ngl I love the fact that you started using more maps in your videos, they make them so much more engaging keep it up! Also, out of curiosity, what editor software do you use to make these videos?
i have a silly little idea!!!! What if somehow, Oregon Country did a rebellion to be an independent country, and still exists today with called "Greater Cascadia"
@Cannon530YT doubtful due to the north-south divide in culture, religion, and dialect. Perhaps after WW2 if such a conflict were still to occur at some point
Great video! However, I am confused over Ludwig and Sophie's relationship; from what I understood, they did love each other at the beginning (despite Ludwig's apparent fruitiness) but grew apart over the years as Ludwig became increasingly eccentric.
Yeah, but as Sophie realized more about Ludwig, a closeted homosexual, and the fact that he was a horrible ruler who essentially thrust all the duties of a monarch upon her, i think she would resent him over time
What if the Teutonic knights Order, the sword brethern Men at arms and Livonian crossbow men auxiliaries conquered eastern European becoming independent of HRE.
@@matthiuskoenig3378 They definitely stand against the Mongol horde and they probably be a second or third Germany in Eastern Europe as they hold Prussia. I dare say the combine three military orders as they solidify there hold on eastern Europe and possibly Russia they be seen as a threat to the balance of Europe by the other kingdoms and empires as they would have grown to powerful but they could also become just as strong as Germany maybe possibly reuniting with Germany to maintain all there conquered lands and there strong military.
10:14 I think it's unlikely that Austria be prevented from uniting with bavaria if the rhineland is not included in bavaria. Almoat all major 'German' industry was in the rhineland, silesia and bohemia. So bavaria-Austria wouldn't be very powerful as a land-locked non-industrialised state.
