I misspoke at 15:20, the Peace of Munich was signed on January 2, 1642, NOT in 1842. I also accidentally said France joined the Catholic League, when it was the Catholic Coalition, sorry about that
Suggestion for a new topic: What if Constantine III stayed in Britannia in 407 AD and kept the province Roman? Instead of fighting in Gaul, he strengthens this outpost to become "Nova Romana", which years later the Saxons would have problems taking it for themselves.
Another great video. I think a good list of alternate scenarios for future videos could be: 1. What if the Jacobites successfully reconquered the British crown? 2. What if the mongols conquered the Mamluks? 3. What if the Brazilian empire survived? 4. What if Japan became catholic? 5. What if the new world discovered the old world? 6. What if Spain won the Spanish-American War? 7. What if the Crusades succeeded? 8. What if the French Revolution failed? 9. What if Carthage conquered Rome? 10. What if Catherine the Great successfully restored the Byzantine empire?
It was almost possible. Poland almost got their monarch on Russian throne but Cleregy stopped him from converting to Orthodoxy to be able to get Russia
A lot of Protistant Germans would leave for the Americas or south Africa. The former dutch colonies in Indonesia would be safe haven for them too. If there would a Habsburg Pope he will declare a new crussade to reconquer Constaninople and the Holy Land.

@@voltageesq. The Catholics had no intention of helping the royalists (Unless Charles I converts to catholicism which I doubt) because the royalists were still mostly protestants. All the catholic irish confederates helped Charles, it wasn't out of love for the king (They themselves revolted against the king in 1641) but more because they viewed Charles as a better, more tolerant ruler as there was no chance they'd accept a parliament ruled by presbytarians and puritans. After all, the anglican church still very much rejected papal power, so the catholic powers wouldn't support either side. At best, I can imagine the spanish building up a huge armada like they did in 1588 to exploit the political chaos in England to take over the crown of England and re-convert them to catholicism, but even that is far-fetched in my opinion.
As always, great video, and also great that you and Possible History are collaborating. I have 4 suggestions for videos: 1. What if Spain remained an important Empire in the XIX Century by: Keeping the Philippines, conquering Morocco, and maybe keeping Cuba and Puerto Rico (I think you're doing this one, so take it as a reminder). 2. What if Al-Andalus never collapsed? 3. What if China became Muslim and Japan Christian? 4. What if the Omani Ibadi Empire never collapsed? (I may help you with this one because I know a lot about Oman and Ibadism).
as a spaniard i love this scenario, finally a united iberia, with full control over the americas, we could see an america full of spaniards, and of course all pf the peoples of those civilisations there too. ¡Plus Ultra!
Here are exciting ideas for alternate history scenarios: What if Elisabeth Joanna of Holstien-Gottrip ( mother of Catherine the Great) had lived and returned from exile and had made herself regent for her grandson Paul, the future Tsar ( Emperor) of Russia? What would be the motivations for Elisabeth Joanna of Holstein- Gottrop to make herself regent for Paul? What would she gain from it, and would Elisabeth Joanna be the mother figure her grandson Pual wanted from his mother? Would Elisabeth care for Paul or only use it to get power and make herself the new Tsar of Russia? What if Oda Nobunaga survived and became the first Shogun of Japan? What would a Nobunaga Shogunate be different than a Tokugawa Shogunate ruling Japan instead? What direction could Oda Nobunaga take with him, Shogun of Japan, and would his first acts as Shogoun, and what would his policies and reforms benefit Japan? Could Japan win the Imjin War with Oda Nobungaga's leadership, and could Japan annex all of Ming China? Or is that impossible? What if Rani of Jhansi ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rani_of_Jhansi) had survived the battle of Gawlior by retreating and became the leader of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and unify all of India and restore the Maratha Empire? Could Jhansi ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jhansi_State) be the new capital of a united India with a revived Martha Empire, and would Rani Lakshimbal become the Empress of a united India, or it be her adoptive son Damodar Rao the Emperor of India? Which of these scenarios do you like best, Mr. Videntis? And which of the three scenarios are your favorites, and which have you never heard of?
What if Wladyslaw III crushed the Turks at Varna leading to a Catholic domination and ending House Osman before they could dominate the Bridge of Europe and Asia (delayed discovery of America? Massive Poland? Christian Brethren United?)
A very interesting scenario! I didn't know about the fact that the Spanish almost captured Paris in 1635. This as you said would have led to a complete domination of Europe by the Habsburgs. Thus centralizing the HRE and creating an universal monarchy. The one thing that I don't think would have happen, would be the conquest of Russia. Wladislaus IV Vasa would have invaded Russia in order to take its throne and most likely ended like Karl XII or Napoleon in our timeline. The russians wouldn't have accepted a monarch that wanted to replace Orthodoxy with Catholicism. They already in otl resisted any such attempt like in 1242 or when Poland occupied Moscow in 1612 and even with a state of total anarchy, the Russians still repelled them. If Wladislaus had invaded Russia like in your scenario he would have failed. Even with a disorganized and a badly equipped army they would have won thanks to the vastness and inhospitable environment of Russia. Napoleon wasn't defeated by the Russian army but by Russia itself. That's my opinion on what would have happened.
Check out what would have happened if the Protestant's won the 30 years war on Possible History's channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zydfGltLad8.html
What if Europe, Middle East, America and Africa had adopted the cult of Makima, Revy, Cutie Honey, Marin Kitagawa, Trixie Tang, Judy Neutron, Marge Simpson, Wendy Corduroy, Lois Griffin, Sailor Moon and Maddie Fenton instead of Abrahamic shit?
The only nitpick that I have with this video is that Anne Marie of Austria would not remarry a Portuguese prince as the previous Portuguese ruling House of Aviz had completely died out in the male line. This was the reason why Philip II of Spain and the Habsburgs were even able to accomplish the Iberian Union in real life.
@@Videntis.History What if Korea converted to Eastern Orthodox Christianity? What if New Zealand was colonised by Portugal? What if the Amazon was a Hot Desert, while the Sahara was a Rainforest? What if an Independent and modernized Guarani Kingdom existed today in the 21st century? What if Ancient Iran industrialized? What if Europe converted to Zurvanism? (or Zurvanite Zoroastrianism) What if the Kingdom of Syria still existed? What if Syria was a Communist country today? What if England/the U.K. colonized Indonesia? What if the Dutch colonized Australia? What if China was a Colonial Superpower? (with Settler colonies like Britain) What if the Hittites survived till today?
22:00 What a beautiful sight. Long live the Habsburgs! AEIOU! Suggestion: What if Constantine suceeded Alexander I as Emperor of Russia and liberizaced it earlier?
Catholics did win the 30 Years War--the French Catholics, that is. Spanish-Imperial forces destroyed the Swedish army at Nordlingen, leading to the dissolution of the Swedish-led Protestant alliance. Cardinal Richelieu correctly saw the Hapsburgs were closing in on France. France intervened to save the Protestants and declared war on Spain. France paid more subsidies to Sweden to stay in the war (25% of Sweden's budget was paid by France), invaded Spanish Italy, and allied with the Dutch to invade Spanish Netherlands. France won and so became Europe's predominant power for over a century. The greatest political consequence of the 30 Years War was a rebalancing of power...between Catholic France and Spain.
The whole way through the video I thought about England. What are the English doing there, sitting on the sidelines while watching a threatening super-Habsburg being created and their protestant allies slaughtered??? Everyone opposed to the unfolding events are just laying the hands in their laps, and let the Habsburgs steamroll them. (like the Swedish and Polish nobility - no revolts??)
Really interesting. I have suggestions for videos, also at the time of Ferdinand II Trastamara of Aragon's death he actually had a cousin who was a surviving male line of the aragon Trastamara line Henry, Count of Ampurais and Duke of Segorbe who's father was Henry Duke of Villena 2nd son of Ferdinand I. Also at one point Ivan the Terrible had proposed marriage to Elizabeth I 1. What Ferdinand II of Aragon's son with his second wife Germaine of Foix survived. 2. What if Ferdinand made his cousin his heir or his cousin took the throne. 3. What if Francis had agreed to help Henry VIII in persuading the pope to change his ruling of his (Henry's) marriage to Anne being illegitimate. 4. What if Catherine of Aragon had died in the Sweating Sickness outbreak in 1528. 5. What if Elizabeth's marriage negotiations with Francis youngest son Charles had not fallen through and she ended up marrying him and had a son that inherited England and eventually France. 6. What if Mary (Henry VIII's daughter) had married Philip, Duke of Palatinate-Neuburg. 7. What if Victoria had married Alexander of the Netherlands instead of Albert. 8. What if the Pope had ruled in Henry VIII's favor in The King's Great Matter. 9. What if Elizabeth I had married Ivan the Terrible and had a son that inherited England and Russia.
I'd like to see a Re-Christianization of the lands the muslims took from the Byzantine Empire by the Habsburg Dynasty. They'd have the power and motivation of a unified Europe to do so and avenge the lands lost to the musilm conquests. (It's interesting thinking that a Dynasty existed in Europe since usually only heard about Dynasties in Ancient Egypt or in China.)
Everything else seemed realistic untill you said that poland will invade all of russia, bruh, russia never loses due to outside invasion, the Sweden and Russia becoming catholic is way too far feched
I imagine this would have intensified the inbreeding issue, and I feel like this would have brought them to into a decline as new upstart houses seize the opportunity to depose the growingly incompetent Habsburgs.
This might be one of the worst alternate history videos I've ever seen, you should stick to alternate event that are at least somehow realistic, it also shows a deep misunderstanding on wars and teritory expansions worked at the time. The idea of one power emerging uncontested and creating an hegemony in Europe is, while enticing, very childish. At that point, why not have Polish armies just steamroll everyone and creating a euro-polish empire, if you don't care about how unrealistic what you are saying is at all, try being a little creative.
@@Videntis.History I should rewatch the entire video to remember exactly but there was things like scale of changes, for example the deviation concerning France. If you wanted a Catholic victory just have France opt out after experiencing early losses would most likely lead to one. Even so the final victory wouldn't be as absolute, it would be more in line with how most conflicts went at the time, and more realistic. You could then explore the "backlash" the victors endure as most powers wouldn't want a single actor like the Hasburgs dominating Europe too much leading to new potential conflicts. The first main unrealistic (tending towards impossible) point I recall was the complete collapse and assimilation of France, a country that won in real History can lose, even hard, but not that hard. If you want a comparison to another scenario it would be like not only have France stop the German forces during WWII, which could be possible, but even pushing back to Berlin, which would be quasi-impossible. The second is the Hasbourg hegemony, the entire history of Europe after the Carolingians was of great powers keeping each others in check. There is no way one single power could influence so much without having some amount of backlash, even the Catholic leaning neutral powers would surely try to supress this new European order. So either the Catholic victory would be major and then be kept in check by other powers such as Russia, England and the Ottomans (most likely a loose alliance of those three), or it would be decisive but minor and lead to more concessions. The final total victory of Hasburg led powers on their local rivals leading to a global Hasburg hegemony is just ludicrous, this is not a Catholic victory, this is a Hasburg wet dream where any obstacle just crumbles to dust.
Great video! Also a suggestion: what if the First Mexican Empire survived. Another suggestion: what if the United States Conquered Canada during the American Revolution
Just saying, the Spanish King had no centralised power by the XVII century. Centralisation would go with enlightened despotism. Here we talk about a Polysynodial regime. Aka the king governs over several political entities and recognise them. Note: I realised you got a big trouble when it comes to understand the political entities.
Here's a fun what if scenario but also Hitler's worst nightmare Slavic Germany there were slapping people that did live in East Germany and modern day Prussia if I got this idea from ck3😅
What if Austria Hungary joined that Allies in World War One the reason they would join the Allies because the Austro Prussian war ruined there friendship
Suggestion: make an alternate history that results in an eternal global empire where literally all of humanity are subjects to a single flag or king until the end of organized civilization.
@@Videntis.History got here through Possible History, this video has been one of your most realistic ones, would love some takes on Dutch alt-history :D
Hey, I started watching You from yesterday and I very liked Your channel. I would be interested in video "What if Poles migrated to Germany after fall of Carolingian Empire" ? Poles I mean Polish ofc. Have a nice day/evening/morning/night or any time You read this in.
Is it right for me to blame Sigismund III as the reason for Poland's downfall? After all, his nature as the Catholic zealot alienated his non-Catholic subjects. P.S: The British-Ottoman alliance will become stronger in this world because they needed each other to survive in this world-dominated Habsburg.
sigismund 3 was one of the major reasons beacuse second northern war started beacuse of next polish king wanted swedish throne damaging their relations, but personally I think nihil novim marked poland's downfall
Another great vid man, I got some alt his suggestions here, would be interesting to see your take on them: What if Japan won the Imjin War? What if Japan continues to liberalize and not be taken over by the militarist during the 1930s and onward? (Wholesome Japan larp across Asia?)
Amazing timeline, but this seems to be more like of a Habsburg wank, to put it rudely. What are the Catholics going to do about the remaining protestant kingdoms, such as Denmark-Norway and England?
It’s refreshing to see an alt history that doesn’t shy away from factoring in how butterfly effects might change geopolitics across the globe. The Hapsburg colonial empire you’ve created here is the kind of thinking alt history fans have been looking for. Hopefully there will be a part 2. Extrapolating from events so far it seems unlikely Prussia will ever rise to unify or dominate the German states. It happens a different way decades earlier or later. But it also means neither world war occur - at least not with the same allies/axis line up, or start/end dates. Looks like Catholic Ireland could experience a Golden Age in this timeline. There’s so many possibilities here.
What do you think about a video in which you describe what whould have happened if Napoleon balkanized most of the european empires. For example: spliting spain into Galicia, castile, navarra, leon , aragon and catalonia, and establish all these states as client states. Also for th Austrian and Ottoman empire who were multicultural and contained many ethnicities and religions.
Please do how and what if the ottomans conquered all of Europe stretching from Siberia in the east and Lisbon Portugal in the west and brining it under direct rule please do this alternate history scenario.
Here's a funny video idea and this could be a series videos basically what if Queen Elizabeth the First of England married her suitors because she had a lot king of Spain the king of Denmark Sweden Ivan the Terrible version many men want her hand in marriage though I've always found the Ivan Terrible marriage proposal the most interesting😅
