What If Digimon Adventure Got BRANCHING Digivolutions? 

HAPPY THURSDAY (sorry for the delay) NOTIFICATION LEGENDS! This was a fun one to put together, 2k likes and I'll do 02!

The cool thing about Tentomon potentially becoming red or blue MegaKabuterimon is that they could actually show the differences in the two. Red is supposed to be physically weaker but has the ability to fly, while blue is grounded and much stronger in close-range combat. Outside of their reference book entries, you'd never know they aren't just aesthetically different.

Agumon digivolving into tyrannomon not as a dark digivolution but due to them not being in synch yet would be a cool idea. Have them start out a bit distant and not sure how to work tigether. Then once they become true friends have Agumon become the Greymon line.

You know the whole Vdramon line would work awesome for Snow Agumon

Agumon and Veemon fighting side by side and then evolving into Veedramon and Exveemon would be super cool for a one-off or a hype moment in a movie

Kizuna not being bio-merge is still so weird.

This video reminded me how much I wished Gravimon was an Angemon evolution. It took me until 2020 to notice how much Gravimon looks like a bridge between the Angemon-species and the Devimon-species. Gravimon has white clothes and a metal mask like the Angemon family but also has stretchy arms and a devious personality like the Devimon family. It makes me wish that in some continuity Angemon fell but wasn't fully corrupted, so instead of evolving into NeoDevimon, he evolved into Gravimon, because he feels like the middle road between them.

To be fair Appmon did have that “care mistake digivolution” w/ Sakasimon

@Karn_EX you could be really crazy and have Agumon become Dorbickmon, Gabumon become Splashmon, Biyomon become Valkyrimon, Tentomon become AncientKabuterimon (or whatever the ancient thunder Digimon is called), Palmon become BloomLordmon, Gomamon become Leviamon, Patamon become Lucemon, and Gatomon become Mastemon.

I always felt that the multiple evolution lines is what made Digimon more interesting than Pokemon

There's just something about the V-Tamer manga that's so nostalgic to me. I think because I came across it as a teen when I was looking for Digimon v-pets online, and reading it, fan-translations and all, made me wish Digimon were real lol

What if Tentomon becomes a Kuwagamon, learns to control that form and its ultimate is the Blue MegaKabuterimon instead of Red, that way the colors are reversed between the champion and ultimate stages. Then Hercules Kabuterimon as a symbolic merging of the two forms for the Mega level. Another idea I’ve seen before is Izzy hacking into Tentomon like in his Kabuterimon debut evolution episode to upgrade Hercules Kabuterimon to its X-Antibody form for more power.

Welp, that's a video idea right there. We've seen a lot of dark evolutions, but what if the anime had care mistake evolutions?

I'm so glad I found this video I feel like no one is talking about Digimon anymore and that saddens me

I really want a season that gives us branching evos for all the partner Digimon, seeing more obscure Digimon is why I live this channel so much, so hopefully one day they give us an anime we can see and appreciate more of them

I tell you if they announced new digivolution lines for agumon and gabumon in the last evolution kizuna movie and surprised us with VictoryGreymon and ZeedGarurumon being their last evolution at the end i would of jumped off my seat.

You had a video once about like, what if the Adventure kids got an entire v-pet evolutionary tree each or something like that, and this video got me thinking: What if after Angemon's death, TK's partner didn't come back as Patamon? Could be Kunemon, because of the V-Pet connection, but could also be well. Literally anything! I think it would be interesting if TK only had his angelic companion for that one big instance of power and then maybe later (in one of the movies or tri or actually in the show) he got an angelic Mega that was "drawing on" that past power

This is something to talk about. Although if this did happen when I was a kid I would be very confused because I didn't know anything about V Tamer until I watched more of your channel.

I had a weird idea while I was watching this... You know how in 02 all the kids can potentially use all the Digi-eggs even though we've never actually seen it happen in the anime. What if the original Adventure cast could potentially use all of the different crests and that was what triggered their branching evolution lines. I'm imagining that in this continuity that Ophanimon is Gatomon's true Light Crest mega and Magnadramon is the result of her using the Courage crest to Digivolve instead. I could see Patamon using the Reliability Crest to become MarineAngemon. Agumon with the Hope Crest could become Centarumon or maybe the crest of Sincerity could cause him to become Gaiomon.

What if we had for every original digimon a evil anti version to fuse with - like Lady-Devimon and Angewomon?

Fun fact! V-dramon cameoing in the Digivice toys is true all the way back to the originals! However, it can't actually evolve on any of them XD

Honestly I like the idea for this since I see it as better variety for the original iteration of the adventure crew

I like using the Pendulum/Survive Format for branching evolutions since I feel it makes the evolutions more balanced.

You bringing up ulforceVeedramon makes me thing of my hope that they will eventually give us full canon digivolution lines for the 02 cast….I mean my personal head canon at least for Hawkmon, veemon, and wormmon are that their ultimate levels are a version of their gold digieggs digivolutions like how rapidmon is terriermons regular ultimate…so like a red peacockmon for hawkmon, a blue magnadramon for veemon, and a green kongoumon for wormmon…though new digimon for their ultimate and mega forms that look more similar to stingmon, aquilamon, and xveemon would be cool too and something that looks like ankylomon would be great

Interesting video. I will say in the first two Digimon World games for Playstation, you can get branched evolutions, especially in DW2, where if you have enough points, your digimon can evolve differently. I believe the point system was 1-2 would give one, and the more you devolved into the prior form you get something different. Example: Veemon which is a Rookie level can be obtained by having Greymon and Birdramon in your party, and essentially they breed, and you have Veemon. Its evolution line was 1-4, you get Veedramon, AeroVeedramon, and I unfortunately apologize because I forgot the Mega, but any higher points yields the armor evolutions Flamedramon as the Champion, Raidramon as the Ultimate, and Imperialdramon as the Mega.

I also noticed that you actually put in the game Blue Dragon😂lol.

Another game is the Digimon Digital Card Battle game, because you have both forms of MegaKabuterimon, as well as both the regular MetalGreymon and its Virus counterpart. You also have the point system from DW2, only altered for the game.

Nothing to do with what you are talking about here, but while you were talking about Meicoomon, I had a thought of: What if there was a movie that had Tai teaming up with a bunch of the movie/expanded characters for an adventure. Get Mei, Willis, Menoa, maybe even someone like Michael or any of the Global Digidestined and have them on a team together under Tai who can’t find his friends (maybe even do that in the digital world). Idk just a thought. 💭

Digimon needs more rivalries between Digimon.

I feel like Priest Mode could have worked well in 02. 02 is already very similar to v-tamer(vmon family partner, human villain, etc) and it could have maybe played a similar role to the armors, with regular MagnaAngemon being blocked somehow and using this mode change to get around thay

This reminds me of an idea I had that I felt like they should lean into when it comes to 2020, basically every one having a alternate mega, like Tai and Matt have Blitz and Cres Izzy having Tyrantkabuterimon Joe getting Plesiomon Mimi getting BanchoLilymon Tk would have Goldramon Kari having Ophanimon And the weirdest one to me Sora having FrostVelgmon

Speaking of care mistake evolutions, I feel like SkullGreymon kind of already was a care mistake of sorts. Not so much as part of the mechanics of the V-pets, but more so in the sense that Taichi was treating Agumon poorly and caused him to evolve differently

I know it was 02, but I think it would have been cool if after BlackWarGreymon sacrificed himself, Agumon became able to digivolve into a BlackWarGraymon in honor of his redemption and their developed bond. Could have been seen in like Tri or Kizuna even if as a one off.

Yeah it's weird how the anime shy away from branching for so long..i get it for Adventure but as a kid i thought 02 would be branching (different armor digievolution for 1 Digimon) instead of the fusion (DNA Evolution) they went with.

Meicoomon or Black Gatomon, having the evolution line hit LadyDevimon and Mastemon would be awesome, especially if the partner was a foil for Kari. Not evil, just...not as innocent let's say. No, I don't just want to see Mastemon because of Cyber Sleuth, shush.

It's possible vtamer could have existed at that time. Characters from that universe were on the series at that time.

Never considered Meicoomon for LadyDevimon ... it's certainly better than just giving Salamon and BlackGatomon to LadyDevimon ... hmm. Especially if they become Mastemon.

I didn't really consider it before, but damn, Tri really could have used X Antibodies as the entirety of the concept and then just end with Meikoomon getting an X Antibody version instead of that greek tragedy of an ending. What I have mentioned a couple times before is how I'd have loved to see the recolor digimon having a chance to shine, and now thinking about it, if we got split evos or if the kids got different evolution lines as they got older, man... what wasted potential. Imagine in 02 outta nowhere now Tai gets SnowAgumon. Or now in Tri he gets a Tyranomon line, while Izzy gets a Kuwagamon and Joe a Seadramon line and so on. It could have been really neat.

I'm still imagining what if instead of Digimon Adventure 2020, we got Digimon V-Tamer anime. Then it continue to Ghost Game, so Ghost Game is the sequel of V-Tamer 😂 Idk, It's not like i have DA 2020, just having 2 identical but different stories feels wierd in ny heart, lol I heart DA 2020 supposed to be only appearing Taichi, Yamato, Takeru & Hikari. When i saw it, it kinda make sense those 4 got many spotlights. I think this is fine because it's different, only 4 members. Or just the 5 original DigiDestined kids anine 🤷 But to avoid sad ending, Ultimate is their final form, or give them branching Pefect, Branching Ultimate & Branching Mega. So it will not clash with their ending story in tri flashback

For the movies, I would love to see Bancho Lillimon. It's a damn shame they gave us Rosemon instead. It fits so well. Mimi in Tri. was already being portrayed as somebody that breaks the mold and rather than use the mega designed for Lillimon, they go and steal Rosemon.

On the topic of branching evos, I think it's very odd that the curated lines for the 02 protags are off: Veemon -> Veedramon -> AeroVeedramon -> UlforceVeedramon Veemon -> XVeemon -> stops While Wormmon is the inverse. Wormmon -> Hudiemon -> stops Wormmon -> Stingmon -> Jewelbeemon -> BanchoStingmon Sting and XVee, who jogress, one has a proper chain, while the other doesn't. And Hudie and Veedra, it's the opposite. Also, the fact that Hawkmon and Armadimon STILL don't have a line that is not jogress and doesn't clash with the original Adventure (Garudamon, I'm looking at you), is still very annoying. The best we have is, imo: Hawkmon -> Aquilamon -> Hippogriffomon -> Valdurmon/Griffomon Armadimon -> Ankylomon -> Mammon/Triceramon -> SkullMammon/Spinomon On another note, a custom jogress between Hudiemon and Veedramon and beyond in the vein of Imperialdramon would be cool.
