Hey Possible History! I really like your channel and your videos have Inspired me to make alternate history scenarios of my own. I also have a suggestion for a scenario, “What if Denmark became a major colonial power?” It would be very interesting to see how history would change.

I like the music, feels like we’re sitting around the fireplace listening to the radio whilst we discuss alternate history. Maybe not in every video but in more chill ones I think this works.

This made me wonder: What if the Netherlands won all the Anglo-Dutch wars? What if the Irish freed themselves much earlier (Like during the confedarete wars or the rebellion of 1798)? What if everything went perfect for the Dutch? What if Ireland and the Netherlands formed a union (probably to fight against England or something)?

What if France Conquered Britain in this war, forcing the British government to relocate to Philadelphia and establish an Elective monarchy to placate the colonists along with reorganizing parliament into a Senate and House of Representatives with a independent Supreme Court? Portugal is also forced to flee to Brazil.

What if everything went perfect for Sweden? What if Rome lost the Social War? What if the Mongols invaded central and western Europe? What if the Crusades permanently succeeded? What if Novgorod unified Russia, not Moscow?

5:10 Is that even possible? It's not geographically connected to the rest of Russia and is surrounded on three sides by Poland-Lithuania. Methinks the victors would instead split off more of Prussia's holdings in mainland Germany into independent states. EDIT: Nevermind, the Russians give it to the Poles in exchange for Courland and other parts of the Baltics.

In this scenario, I can see Britain being more willing to negotiate with the colonists to prevent the Revolution, basically set up parliament where the colonies have a few seats to have a say. Might lead to the Imperial Federation being more successful, if there's precedent for the colonies/dominions to have representation in parliament.

In my opinion, the background video is a little too jazzy. Background music shouldn't stand out this much. You should barely notice it, and it definitely shouldn't distract from what you're saying.

There is a fundamental flaw in part of your theory. First of all, Austria was politically tied to France and was basically pushed over by France and the goal was to trade Austria, Silesia for Holland since they couldn't let the rich Silesia to them and had agreed to it beforehand. Holland was critical for France has it would have cut off England from continental trade almost entirely. Secondly there is 2 reasons for the French revolution : Famine and Bankruptcy. In our timeline, the war took almost 80% of the annual revenue of France, a certain volcano erupted in Iceland and the crops were bad. Letting France Unable to secure grains for everyone during that period. With a French victory in the seven years wars, some of the debt acquired by defeated country would've been exchanged against grains thus calming the population. And since the English would've had much more difficulty to maintain their control over the American coast, there would've been no need to Benjamin Franklin to come to France and spread revolutionary ideals to the population, since he would've only needed to talk to the French governor of Louisiana who had the political leniancy to act independantly and support undirectly Georges Washington's rebellion from there. Third the "landind of troops in britain" had 2 objectives and none of wich would've had for goal to completely dominate England. the first one was to secure the "english channel" by destroying the harbors with ground troop if need be. But a full on invasion wasn't planned, as Britain's complete destruction never was in France's mind. The second one was to severe the UK of one of it's member. By disrupting Ireland for instance, the French king wanted to see if there was any remnant of the Auld Alliance if the Scottish. If everything went according to plan, they would've traded Ireland for Scottland and thus liberating them for the very reasons you said in your video. But France had no realistical means to hold both of them. The fundamental flaw i talked earlier was the view of France on the whole affair. It was a war against the Habsburg dynasty and the domination of the Bourbon in Europe. For it to happen, England was Crucial as a balance since too much Habsburg losses in one war would've mean a coalition would've form to immediately regain control of the situation.

Not sure alternate revolutionary France does as well, given with Poland still existing they lose a source of support in the east. Plus there is always the option of Poland, Austria, and Russia dogpiling the Ottomans, while France is in turmoil and in no position to counter balance intervene.

As a german, I am yet again crying at a possible history video.

I dont see france taking odisha from their allies like Maratha as french always complied with demands of their allies demands in india like ho they stopped their fortification and helped Nawab of bengal on his demand. It also assume that if frwnce wanted the indian lord would just passively bow to them which is ahistorical regarding british conquests which in majority was possible in large parts because of luck. Like during battle of Plassey and during anglo-maratha war with untimely death of Peshwa.

I mean sure their side won but at the start they went on the offensive and probably had some territorial claims after all they even occupied parts of Bohemia before having to retreat later. The war started by looking like they’ll win decisively and by the end the goal was just for Prussia to survive and not be annexed. Maybe look into this scenario a bit idk. Just an idea.

Imo, the American crisis would probably go one of two ways: a) The vast majority of American colonists sought reconciliation with Britain up until the seige of Boston. Imo, if Britain is truly economically weaker, as you said, then I think Parliament would be seriously more inclined to negotiate with the colonies, and, if the governmemt can catch onto the fact that the problem is percieved infrigements on liberty, then it's possible that a compromise can be reached, and, quite honestly, if it works, then Britain can get some increased taxtation out of America, and the colonies would still remain British subjects. b) If Parliament is as negligent and ignorant in our own timeline and the British government fails to actively negotiate, instead doubling down on taxes, it's easy to see the Revolution still happening.

You forget the French demographics was the worst in Europe at that time. It didn't really show in the 18th century, but several countries caught up with the French population in the 19th century, including the UK...

I'd say the probability about the war for independence would be even greater, as the colonies would be taxed even heavier. The interesting thing would be: what will happen in the french colonies? Since France can spread these taxes way more, having gained Flanders as well as remained in control over their indian possessions

Also modernization does not necessarily mean the breakup of a strict hierarchy and strong royal authority. Prussia and later the German Empire is a key example of this, highly industrialized, while also a very aristocratic country. The Prussia idea of a service nobility was actually a borrowing from France which did it first. So really all the political reforms simply need to revolve around the nobility actually fully contributing to the glory and prospering of France, and remembering their role in the terms of true Noblesse Oblige

It'd be interesting to see how the reclamation of Silesia goes foe Austria, would it possibly give them the necessary strength in order for their move on bavaria during the war for Bavarian Succession to be succesful? Especially with no other German great power to contest them like Prussia? Or would the other Great powers step in to stop such a thing? Maybe there'd be a deal between Russia and austria where Russia gets to tale a piece of Poland while on return the Austrians take bavaria?

The thing about the American War for Independence is that it wasn't just Britain's financial problems that caused it, but also their high handed efforts to resolve the issue in regards of the colonists. Though, I could also see the British being more willing to negotiate due to the continued French presence on the continent. I think it could go either way. Another interesting aspect to this is that with the continued French presence, the British do not restrict American settlement with an alternate Proclamation Line of 1763. I mean, it was largely ineffectual and the line was ultimately moved further west a few years later in OTL, but here it wouldn't happen at all, thus removing one grievance from the colonists. Regardless, I do see another colonial war being fought between Britain and France. Whether this comes as a result of an ALT American War for Independence or just another generic European War pitting the two against one another, the war would happen regardless.

Can we get a re-do on what if France won the War of the Spanish Succession? I think the old scenario, while good, seemed much more like a stalemate than a victory.
