I love this story. Here is an idea, What if Future Trunks died instead of Future Gohan? Thoughts on this idea? You are awesome!

Another possibility for future gohans power being capped is he simply didn't think of another level of super sayin. At that time super sayin was the pinnacle of power it was goku and vegeta in the main time line that thought about surpassing super sayin. Just my 2 cents

If Future Roshi had taught Gohan and Trunks the Mafuba, could they have defeated the androids? What do you think?

Even if cell still had fight left tin him, roshi could have just used the mafuba If he teaches Gohan and Trunks too, any villain can be easily defeated with the mafuba. Even Majin buu, and any possible future threats. Then Gohan and Trunks may eventually have kids who will carry the torch

One thing I absolutely love about this channel and this community, Scholars, is that all of us are encouraged to think critically and even share our own takes on the events of the story and how it could have been improved or changed. With that being said, I'll give you guys a summary of my own take on the future timeline that I have actually posted online. (link on my about page, 40,000 words right now for the future timeline) My version of the story relies on Gohan more as the crux of the victory against the androids because he is the only Saiyan left and the only real fighter still remaining. Not that Trunks is dead mind you, but that Trunks is actually Yamcha's kid. He can't go Super Saiyan. In my take on the events the fight against Frieza happened differently and there was no Super Saiyan transformation from Goku. Master Roshi informs Gohan and Trunks about his training at Korin's tower which naturally transitions to The Room of Spirit and Time/Hyperbolic Time Chamber. With nothing else to do Oolong and Puar actually take up the offer to go and meet Korin. One last little tidbit so that I don't spoil too much in case you guys would actually like to read it is as follows: I am also writing a main timeline work so I set it up differently. Kami never got to finish The Room of Spirit and Time, that's why The Earthlings never got to use it when training for the Saiyans. The Room of Spirit and Time doesn't dismiss people who have never trained in their life like Oolong and Puar so anything could happen.

What's odd is that future goku didn't contact future gohan through king kai and tell him about the chamber. They break the rules of the afterlife constantly but this one time they just leave it be? pfff.

Gohan had a Fluctuating power level that is similar to Broly from his dragon ball super movie, so What if Gohan is/was born as the Legendary Super Saiyan?

This story really thought long and hard about the 2 characters. Well done. Few things that stood out: 1. The straight up tag team. They are not Goku and Vegeta. They are not prideful. They are humans and are pissed the androids destroyed their home. They go all out immediately. 3. Gohan's rage at the android's. When Gohan snaps, he is sadistic and brutal. He did it to Cell and the Cell Jr's and he almost did it to Buu. 2. Gohan and Trunk slacking off. Both characters only train if they have intense motivation. It's a real contrast between the pure blooded saiyans and is a constant theme throughout the series. Most other What Ifs don't take into consideration the nature of these hybrids. Other stories are flashier but they really feel like fan fictions. This one seems grounded in who the character's are.

No matter how embittered Gohan is, I can't believe he'd kill 18 in such a brutal and sadistic manner. Not that it wouldn't be cooler, but he was just never written that way. Much like Goku, he's always been written as a better person than his rivals.

Roshi is THE sigma male while every one was sitting and not training he kept his grind set and never stopped even when everything is over

I think that you, Team Four Star, Son Goku, and countless other people had overexaggerated about what are the consequences of training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for prolonged periods of time, as absolutely none of the people who had trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber had developed absolutely any form of problems after entering and then leaving the HTC. As Future Trunks always had some form of PTSD from living on a Planet Earth being terrorized by Future Android 18 and Future Android 17.

Ascended Super Saiyan doesn't have the very exact same fatal flaw as Ultra Super Saiyan. As don't you remember when Super Vegeta and ASSJ Future Trunks had absolutely no problems whatsoever when it came to them absolutely destroying Semi-Perfect Cell?

If gohan did this (knowing that trunks timeline is the original and correct timeline) we wouldn’t have a story with goku and everyone else. It would just be gohan and trunks

The real question is what happened to Mr. Popo from Future Trunks' time?

And that's when bulma becomes a GOD DAMN ROLE MODEL! She creates a device with such a powerful emp that it wipes out most of the androids strength. Then she creates the flux waves. Future trunks Arc meets dragonball GGEEEEETTEEEEE

😭😭I love the ending, and how Gohan killed #18, and I think Mr Satan probably died, well to me atleast😅, then maybe Beerus would show up and whis would take trunks and Gohan to train with them since there aren't 5 saiyans then Gohan and trunk would go beyond but wouldn't get God Ki,they would get super Saiyan rage as both of them posses that level of anger, whis would tell them that it would be less possible for them to move without thinking since they fight with such wrath, from there maybe the tournament for earth but from there no tournament of power, that's all I can think of😅😅

He was literally at a near death state post his first fight alongside Trunks against the Androids, how the fuck did he not get a Zenkai that shot his base level over 40,000,000, which with a 50x Boost from Super Saiyan, should have shot his level over 1.2 Billion, completely trouncing the androids.

Listening to the description of the final between Gohan and Trunks and 17 and 18, so cathartic. Good that you had them get the job done within a relatively short amount of time, no long monologue between the two parties, just Gohan and Trunks doing what they set out to do

I hate that fans have this weird idea about Gohan that because he doesn't train his power falls off. This is idiotic and wrong based on what we know of saiyan biology and how saiyan/human hybrids work. Worst yet is that it is a line of dialog from someone who wouldn't even think of a falling power level that is the origin of this nonsense. Saiyan Biology is own to grown in power naturally up until around 40 without any training whatsoever. Gohan is in his 20s at the end of DBZ and 30s in Super. His power would not have decreased. It would have increased whether he trained or not and the same is true of this timeline. Likewise Gohan would have easily defeated Cell in such a timeline. SSJ is a modifier of base power. Gohan's base power would have continued to increase. Gohan would have surpassed Goku and Vegeta in base power long ago if he was subjected to such a harsh way of living and the only reason he wouldn't have been able to defeat the androids is cuz it would have taken him a while to learn SSJ, then also the fact that he lost an arm, and then the lack of recovery time as he would have always had to face 2 on 1 while protecting constantly as the androids have infinite stamina. The minute Gohan would have gotten a good rest and a possible ally he'd have shredded the androids easily and then Cell wouldn't have even remotely stood up to him... because cell has no infinite stamina, less energy to absorb, and no way of becoming perfect... oh also the androids and Cell were weaker in this timeline too... so even if you want to argue Gohan was out of practice of going SSJ... it doesn't matter cuz his power level would be higher in base SSJ form enough to obliterate Cell without issue similarly to how Frieza was of no match to Trunks, Cell would have been a similar level of fodder to Gohan in this timeline.

MISSED THE BRUTAL WHAT IFS!!!

Imagine a what if where gohan goes back in time instead of trunks. He watches trunks die, and he completely gives up. He is only pushed into action by bulma putting herself in a no win situation where the androids end up killing her, and gohan is given everything he needs to go back in time. First thing he gets after the first android encounter is an android arm. This arm absorbs energy because it’s harvested from 19/20. Also when gohan learns how time works and that he can’t go back and change things, he instead becomes a permanent member of the normal z fighters. Instead of ssj2 we get gohan fusing with gohan after training with piccolo and kami. This produces an even more powerful fighter. Goku doesn’t have to sacrifice himself. Cell just dies. Instead vegeta becomes the true villain of the series. Being outclassed by a half breed kills his ego and pride. He doesn’t have trunks to sway him towards the light. Instead he trains to defeat goku and gohan. He gives himself to babidi and takes out dabura to become king of hell. He willingly gets absorbed by buu to take over his body becoming buugeta. Gohan and goku both get ultimate forms and when that’s not enough, fuse into gukhan.

There is no evidence that the Lookout was attacked by the Androids, so Mr. Popo could have told Gohan and Trunks.

When I watched the history of Trunks movie I always thought that Gohan could have beat them after he lost his arm but only if he could have fought then one at a time with rest between the fights, I thought it looked like he had the fighting skills and maybe the raw power to put them down in a 1v1

Ah, love hearing your What if stories. They make more sense and would've made things a lot more interesting.

This reminds me of of a 'what-if' I read years ago and my my memories are a bit fuzzy. But the premise was a theory on that the senzu beans weren't actually doing their job. This was because the theory hinges on that senzu beans reflects the Earth's population. The healthier Earth's population, the better they work. Due to the androids practically wiping out Earth's population, the beans couldn't actually restore Gohan to full health so his inner workings weren't actually at their best and his Zenkais were pretty much messed up to near uselessness. Popo realizes this and offers to do a special ritual surgery to help him. After doing this, Gohan received the mother of all zenkai boosts due to all of the backed up zenkais he did not receive earlier. This power up allowed Gohan to ascend in his next fight with the androids and dominated 17. Somehow he managed to turn 18 to the good guys before this point and was giving Gohan heads up for the attack.
