As much as I'm someone who REALLY loves Pawmi and Pawmot both, I think it'd be cool if they went more all-in on that Shonen protagonist vibe you mentioned with Pawmot's hair. The evo method is already there, and perfect for it- it's like you have to go on a whole training arc for it
I was thinking that maybe pawmi’s evolution line references the whole human evolution thing. Monkeys on all fours, then becoming bipedal, and then gaining more exstravegent cloths or fur like pawmot
@@unfuzzywinner5092 i thought it was like a fitness thing where pawmot evolved by jogging and going on walks then evolves into a defibrillator with the staticy hair
I appreciate what you did with Belibolt's eyes since that's what always bothered me about it. The teaser said "It has bumps that people mistake for eyes" but then Belibolt just straight up has fake eyes. You were clearly supposed to think they were eyes. No mistake about it. I like how your take gives the eyes a more unique look as well as giving them something else to resemble in the form of headphones.
Yup. With og Belibolt, I just can't convince my brain that those aren't eyes and the yellow dots above their head aren't nostrils. With the redesign, you think that the bumps are eyes, and then you go "Ooooooooh ! That's where the real eyes are !". I think it has something to do with the fake eyes being rectangular and facing away instead of facing forward.
A great batch of reinterpretations! The changes to Bellibolt and Pawmot in particular are relatively minimal but make such a difference in accentuating their concept, character and silhouettes. I've always thought Capsakid's "hair" intended to resemble a baby bonnet, given it's a child-like pokemon - and bonnet being a connection to scotch bonnets, the type of chilli - but the idea that it also takes inspiration from a Japanese schoolkid's hat is a cool tidbit I hadn't considered!
I appreciate the respect for the original designs and how you try to stay away from the "fixing" cliché. Love your designs, Bellibolt especially really needed the attention.
I love the pawmot redesign!! as for tandemaus, I kinda figured them looking identical was part of the whole cloned lab rat kinda concept? the double helix tail is genius tho
Oh I just ADORE your take on Tandemaus! They have Mickey and Minnie vibes despite not really looking like them aside from species and Big Ears (tm), and I love how you gave each “Maus” a different personality
What I love about your videos is that instead of hating on a Pokémon’s design you list things that you personally don’t like while still acknowledging that the Pokémon doesn’t suck. The one redesign I actually like less than the original is Tandemaus. I think its simplicity adds to its charm and I personally wouldn’t change a thing about it.
11:40 I like how the true face is also more noticeable. I like how bith sets of eyes look like they could be the real ones. I always have a hard time seeing the fake eyes on the official design as the real design.
love the redesigns however, I personally would have made the bowtie mouse have the pink coloring, and the head bow mouse have the blue, that way it really would make them seem like they can be any gender just me, though, the designs you came up with were still great!
Personally, i think the original Tandemaus only needs a little tweaking to be perfect, but that doesn't make for an entertaining video, you did good within the format!
All great designs and really fixes what all these pokémon needed! Simplicity of the original designs I can understand but it always leaves much to be desired. I really loved your redesign of Flamigo because even though I knew what it was based off of I never understood the major appeal it had. While on the other hand I love the original Bellibolt more but your design is really nice. The original is simple yet I still love the electric blob bulb. Your idea of the bulbs on the head making them more frog eye like is genius (or the chats I completely missed over it. Since I remember you do these live.)
As an enourmous Tandemous and Maushold enjoyer, honestly the minimalism is part of the reason I love them so much. The fact these little funny mice can stand toe to toe with dragons and other crazy Pokémon is part of the reason I love them so much. The idea of a stupid little mouse being a Pokémon is so funny that it works. That’s why I just can’t like your redesign more than the original.
@@Dan55888 Counter argument: They are are cute regardless. When you think about it there are many Pokemon with plain designs that are still extremely likeable. Exemple:Espeon
@@Dan55888 they have a bunch of interesting design origins, they're adorable, especially in their animations, and they have multiple gameplay gimmicks that are actually fun. Honestly anything added to them feels overdesigned for their concept imo
Shame that Caspakid lost his Kappa influence, as it was half of the concept, but the touch of colour was much needed. Little thing hides in the grass so well, I couldn't count on two fingers the number of times I literally *ran* into it.
I think it's less kappa and more the sprout of a pepper which is exactly what the pokemon is, besides we already have the perfect kappa pokemon in lotad, lombre, and ludocolo
@@Sergio-wc1wn A rather large chunk of peppers are beak-shaped, and the head doesn't look kappa-like at all, if by kappa-like you mean the head leaves then that also means that means that bounsweet and dolliv are kappa-like (which doesn't exactly seem right), plus there would be at least one kappa connection in scovillain if capsakid was genuinely kappa inspired
@@shnorbalicious9758 i mean the leaves on capsakid look closer to kappa bowl heads than dolliv and bounsweets so that comparison doesn't work. also probably a stretch but capsa and kappa are pretty close phonetically, i agree with scovillain not having kappa origins though it makes the evolution weirdly distant
I think this region was severely hampered by it’s clearly rushed nature, making most pokemon less appealing due to time constraints on the designing and modeling process. And the need to make the paradox pokemon stand out didn’t do much to help either since that means a reduction in most tough or primal looking Pokémon so there’s no confusion, same goes for futuristic ones along the lines of porygon z. Edit: I don’t mean to say they’re bad designs because I don’t like them or anything like that. I more so mean that many look compromised as designs and weren’t taken to a fitting endpoint. They don’t look bad per say, more so unfinished. And theme’s don’t impact if I see a design as finished or not. It might be someone’s favorite but I think the official maushold and many others need redesigns.
Where are you getting that the designs are "rushed"? This is one of the best designed generations in a while, the Pokemon feel very inspired and well-researched. We still have plenty of tough looking Pokemon like Mabosstiff, Cetitan, Dondozo, and Lokix, and futuristic is hardly a consistent type of Pokemon design
@@grunkleg.2934 Some of the design inspirations, I agree, are amazing and unique. My problem with the designs is that many of them feel like beta designs and needed one or two more redesigns. This is just my opinion of course
I really like the Tandemaus, and while I enjoy the idea of the gender roles, I think it should be a thing on only some of the pokémon. For example, you could have the Tandemaus as shown in the video, the more masculine with the more feminine, blue and pink, or you could find a masc with a masc, fem with a fem, and maybe the colouring of the bows could change randomly, with the shinies making all the bows purple. I think it would also be great to have a more genderless maus, maybe having either both bows or nothing, so there is a third variation making it quite like Spinda in the way that it has a load of small design aspects that change and make any two Tandemaus different
9:41 if they did look like that I think it would be neat if the pairing was randomized so there be a chance for tie ans bow, bow and bow, and tie snd tie
I mean isn’t it kinda self explanatory that one of the Tandemaus is female and the other is male? They literally evolving by reproduction… and Pokémon breed in male/female pairs… I always got that from looking at the design but I guess others didn’t see it the same way?
@@Mr_Mcgee_ true, but for everything, there need to be a gay version, even if it doesnt make sense at all. Oh, and if you think otherwise, you are a homophobic
@@Mr_Mcgee_ truegreen said that they're still genderless, so a bow and bow or tie and tie would still be able to reproduce, it could be a fun collector thing or specifically searching for a tandemaus couple that appeals to you ^^
@@Mr_Mcgee_ From the Scarlet Pokedex: "The two little ones just appeared one day. The group might be a family of related Pokémon, but nobody knows for sure." It's never canonically stated that they reproduce through sexual reproduction.
I never knew what bothered me about Pawmot but you summed it up perfectly. Love the changes to Bellibolt! Putting it next to other frog Pokémon to show their relatedness really accentuated it's goofiness; the re-design definitely increased it's frogyness
Am I the only one that loves the OG Bellibolt? I think it looks really cute, and its supposed to be that shape because it is supposed to look like an avocado, and it doesn't move much. Plus there are a lot of blobs in the natural world.
The Bellibolt design is baller, but part of it's original design is based on an avocado Edit: I'm not stretching. Proof: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DjQH9ZJvSNE.html
Hot damn, bro! That redone Tandemaus/mouse looks fkn AMAZING!! Nice TLOU Pt 2. Rat King vibes. Love the double helix dna idea as well! It's also a nice & subtle throwback to Plusle & Minun. Redesign perfected.👌🏾 11/10 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
As much as I already love Bellibolt’s design (not that I don’t notice that it’s base shape is way too similar to Chansey), I think this redesign looks great!
I love the idea of tandemaus having variations so sometimes they can be two blue with bow ties, two pink with hair bows, and one of each. That would be so adorable
Got to watch some of these on the livestream, and while you improved all of these...that Flamigo is toooooooooooooooooooooo good. Its perfect. The best. Its what it could have been all along
YES!! That's SUCH a better Tandemaus design! My real gripe about it is that they're just... Two mice standing next to each other. They're not connected at all. They really should've had their tails twined together. It would be a rat king reference AND a reference to how cartoon animals usually hold tails because they don't have hands. And I really wish the clothing-like patterns were a bit more darker. You can barely see them so why even have them..
Bellibolt is actually based on desert frogs. There bodies are so round and have very small hind legs that arent well equipped for jumping since they mostly bury underground dens to retain their moisture in the desert.
I remember all these streams, especially the bellibolt one! I thought it looked so good at the end. And I even told Ron that he sould add bigger feet, we all agreed and that made me happy! Love the vids 👍
If you're gonna do the 6th part of "Video game pokemon" series, here are my suggestions: - Steel/Grass - based on Master Chief - Steel/Fighting - Based on Kratos from God of War - Fire/Fighting - based on Scorpion from Mortal Kombat - Normal/Flying - Based on Duck Hunt Dog & Duck There are some alternate ideas to use: - Steel/Psychic - Based on Gordon Freeman - Poison/Ghost - based on Solid Snake - Steel - based on Quote (Cave story) - Dark/Fighting - Based on DOOM Guy - Flying/Ghost - Based on Ezio (Assassin's creed) - Steel/Fairy - based on Cloud Strife or Steel/Dark - based on Sephiroth
I really like the pawni line little fingies. Pokémon i general that have five-ish fingers/ hands, love them all. I just imagine that they'd be able to talk in sign laguage.
Okay, I want to make some critiques on these designs: Pawmot: You actually made a better design of it. My only advice: Maybe redesign both Pawmi and Pawmo? Flamigo: You did better on Flamigo. But I guess my other option on redesigning Flamigo is...Maybe also make it Flamenco style? 🤔 (No pun intended) Frigibax: I would've also made it look like Godzuki from the old Godzilla cartoon. =\ Capsakid: Nothing to say about this design. But I would say...maybe make a Shiny version of this design, that looks like either a Habanero or a Ghost Pepper? In fact, the Regional Variant version of Scovillain would not only look like a Ghost Pepper, but it would also be a Fire/Ghost-type too! =D Tandamaus: Best way to redesign Tandamaus: Make it based off of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse! =) And finally, Bellibolt: I actually like Bellibolt's actual design, but I gotta admit...You really nailed it on the redesign. 👍🏻
Capsakid's utter refusal to mind one's personal space is how I actually ended up with a shiny. I had to set the game down real quick to take care of something, came back to a battle starting, and the opponent was a shiny pepper boi
I like your Powmot better, but I do miss the “fur collar” of the official one, I just kinda like that thing. Also on your version I would probably make the back feet a little bigger and bulkier, they look a little funny with how much smaller they are than the front ones.
i think it wouldve been cute if they made it so tandemaus could come in different forms like with two “male” tandemaus or two “female” tandemaus, in addition to one of each. (id say nonbinary too but i think of gender as a human construct which doesnt really apply to the sexes of animals or in this case pokemon) i also recognize that having 3 forms like might be weird especially for the evolution but itd be interesting
With the Bellibolt redesign it's definitely not giving off the wobbly rubber ball energy I love about the original. And with Tandemaus, them not having a mouth makes one of their wholesome dex entries, which states they halve their food so that each has the same amount, impossible, and that's kinda sad... But aside from that, they and the other three are great redesigns!!!
I think it would be cool if there was a certain percentage for your tandemaus to both be masc or fem mice! It would be very cute and replace the 3 and 4 child maushold
By the bysies, the Maus couple have shirt and pants patterns on each of them. They're just SLIGHTLY darker gray, so it's hard to see. But they are not just mice.
@@zeldzamezeeslak6082 He literally explained that they weren't exclusively male and female. One was fem and one was masc. People like you give our community a bad name so pls stfu 🙏🏼
I like Ron’s artwork but I dislike his and any other person’s redesigns they take away the part’s I like and keep their biggest flaws, many artists also fix Pokémon that I feel any change isn’t necessary. Anyway have a good day, Cheers.
I like all of yours better, except I can't decide on pawmot. But when I first saw flamigo my thought was, "It's.... just a flamingo. That's all." Yours is definitely way better and more pokemon like.
I just wanna point out that Frigibax is most likely based on Minilla, not Godzilla Junior. Arctibax resembles Junior more. (Yes, they're different characters that are children of Godzilla in different continuities) Knowing that, take a look at Minilla and Frigibax and you'll see how clever the goofiness is.
Pokémon redesign videos always leave a bad taste in my mouth, because for me no matter who’s doing the redesigning, it just reminds me of that toxic arrogance some members of this fandom have associated with the opinion of “I’d do a better job than gamefreak”
@JesterPaws I appreciate that truegreen acknowledges that he’s not try to ‘fix’ these Pokémon with his redesigns and more adapt their to better fit his personal tastes while still keeping true to GameFreak’s vision, but like I said even when non toxic fans do redesigns it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of the toxic fans that are put there
All of these were Pokémon that I either didn't like at all or kinda liked but there was something off about them. I love the redesigns you've given them, and I love how you said there'd be more Tandemaus pairs! That'd be so awesome ^^
Hey! I have an idea. Colpent (cold serpent) is an ice/poison snake stuck in an ice cube. It als has a hat, and Its evo, graniper (granite viper) is a rock/poison type snake stuck in a rock with a leaf hat (i like hats) on his head and evolves into cobralien (cobra alien) a steel/poison snake in a ufo and he has a space helmet. The snake is purple and the item would be just a bit under the head (enough room so it sticks out) and i would really like to see my idea drawn.
Great vid, all of them managed to keep what the original aspects while adding things to make it better while not making it too much. That's what ALL redesigns to be. The only thing I don't like is Tandemaus, I'm much more of a fan of the simplistic, basic OG one Except Pawmot
In my opinion, the redesigned Tandemaus could d ok I with a few tweaks. The colour change from the blue and pink to purple for both, being a mix of pink and blue. Also changing the whole pants and top hearts into maybe just having a heart in the middle for both. I think the bows are perfect though, they provide that extra bit of detail for the pair (This applies to the double helix tail to, that's such a genius concept).
I'm not sure about Tandemaus personally, I don't think I really like the bows on them, and I prefer them being colorless. Other designs are awesome though, especially Pawmot.
As a frog enthusiast, I've always been disappointed with Bellibolts design. Your design perfectly encapsulates what i would have wanted from this silly frog.
I love Pawmot in SV because it took me by surprise how useful it actually is in Battle. Volt Absorb makes it a perfect counter to Elec types, Fighting type and 115 Base Attack, and it's friend shaped! Plus Revival Blessing is BUSTED! I just love him. It's the first Pikachu-kind pokemon I've used since Raichu.
@Choas_Lord_512 Troll harder Edit: Actually, you know what. I'm disappointed in your trolling. You could have gone WAY harder, picking apart my comment, pointing out logical errors, etc.
I had a glitch in my game for the sudo final evo. It looked like it sparked from its mouth like the old Japanese toys while the spikes on its back flickered. It made this a top tier for me for sudos. I fell in love. I am DEEPLY frustrated this was a glitch. SUCH A MISS for pokemon. OMG!!!
Baxcalibler is weird because in different arts it stands differently. It should be more horizontal than standing up. When standing up taller it looks way dumber than Arctibax which axtually stands like a bipedal dinosaur would
