I like the idea of having Team Rocket in Smash but I think a playable Rocket Grunt would be more fun than a Pokémon Trainer-style Giovanni. The Grunt could use their whip for basic attacks, try to capture the opponent in Pokéballs for their neutral special, send out Zubat to Supersonic the opponent for their Side Special, use a teleporter for their Up Special, and plant a Voltorb bomb for their Down Special. Their alt costumes could reference famous Team Rocket members (like Giovanni or Jesse and James) or they could pull a Bowser Jr on us and make them all different grunts from different generations of Pokémon. If we are going the traditional Pokémon Trainer route for Giovanni though, I think Nidoking, Persian, and Honchkrow would be a far more interesting combination of Pokémon in terms of size, typing, and overall move sets. Besides, it just feels wrong to put Giovanni in Smash without his Persian.
Misty could be interesting and probably the second choice for a new PT. Psyduck, Starmie, and Togetic. Togepi doesn't quite have the body for smash when I tried mapping out a moveset. It would also be cool to see how Brock's Pokemon worked in smash. It's the only way onix and geodude could get in and then we could get a crystal onix costume. Back to misty, Psyduck would play similar to squirtle but with the kill power of ness and have some psychic based moves as well as water. Starmie is kinda big but also fast and its running animation would have it face up spinning around. It would be the combo based Pokemon. Togetic is interesting and I choose togetic over togepi because I needed an up b. It could be togepi tho, as their iconic move is metronome and that could make for a cool gimmick where each move could have different properties that come out at random, allowing for a character that's not exactly entirely skill based, but also not totally stupid. However metronome could just be a neutral special that has 10 random possibilities of what could come out.
For another pokemon trainer character, you should do Cynthia with her pokemons being Spiritomb, Milotic and Garchomp since they're the ones who are constantly on her team (there's also Lucarion but...)
darkmetaknight7 I don't think Milotic would work as it's a non land water type Pokemon also it's a snake it won't be going anywhere if it isn't in water
So Giovanni’s Final Smash would be some what similar to King Dedede’s Final Smash back in Brawl. Next Trainer, why not Wally from Gen 3. Gen 3 and 5 don’t have reps in Smash.
I have a similar story about an attack I thought of getting into the game, also involving Incinaroar. When thinking of moves for Sceptile when the Smash Wii U DLC was coming out, I thought that X-scissor would be a good idea for an up special, working exactly like cross chop, but without coming back down. And I thought of this before Cloud was revealed for DLC.
I had the same thought for having Persian in the team as well. Great thinking for having beedrill be the light fighter. I thought of khang for heavy but didn't think of who could be light
I love your concept of trainers instead of individual Pokémon, but I don’t know why your choice of Pokémon just didn’t sit right with me. Giovanni is more remembered as the leader of team rocket, more so than his role as the Viridian gym leader. So if I were to pick his Pokémon, I’d go with a rattata (a common team rocket grunt Pokémon), persian (Giovanni’s companion), and a houndoom just to have a rat dog cat dynamic. Other than that, instead of following his Pokémon around like the Pokémon trainer, he could sit in the background with slight movements of his hands to give out orders. And as a final smash, I’d much rather like to see him release mewtwo in his armor from the anime or at least mewtwo X as a callback to ultra sun and ultra moon. Sorry if this is seen as “you did it wrong” because that’s not what this comment was meant to be. This was just my spin on the concept. Either way you made a great video, and I’m looking forward to the stuff you have planned for the future.
GameBear Art I would have gone with Hounchkrow instead of Rattatta. It's just that, to me, having a 1 pound rat against Bowser or DK is a little ridiculous even for Smash standards.

I'd like to see what you could come up with for Smeargle since it can learn every move including Transform & moves that require body parts it doesn't have.
Still glad you chose to use my suggestion with the yellow text on the villains. The shade ya gone with giving it a very nice golden look to it was such a nice choice.
I do love Cyrus but his existence in a game like Smash as anything but background in a Distortion World stage (why do we not have that yet) would probably give him even more of an existential crisis than he already has.
For suggestions, Crono from Chrono Trigger, could have a gimmick of summoning a random friend at some attacks. Or a protagonist from Shin Megami Tensei as a parallel to Joker and Pokemon Trainer, since it is the mainline series and Persona is the spinoff. Best choices would be the Nahobino from 5 as a bigger parallel to Joker, Demi-Fiend from 3 as the seemingly most popular, and the hero from 1 as the first.
Well for another trainer idea I think Blue would be an awesome choice, I’m surprised he isn’t in smash as an alternate for Red already! He could just have the advantages to each of Red’s Pokémon being Blastoise, Charmeleon and Bulbasaur, but I think that’d be a bit boring. I think instead using his alternate Pokémon from the games: Gyarados, Arcanine and Exeggutor, would be a lot more interesting. Arcanine could be the fastest and have good dash attacks, Exeggutor would be the slowest but have some nice ranged attacks and Gyarados would be in the middle for speed, but have the strongest attacks. I hope that could help! :D
Ya but he doesn’t use any of those Pokémon in the games. I think personally he should have Persian(His most iconic Pokémon), Nidoking(His most consistent Pokémon across the generations), and Garchomp( A modern rep and newer Pokémon he’s used).

Please do Tornadus, Thundrus, and Landorus. Idk who the trainer would be, I just think their moves would be amazing. Since their legendaries, they might not even have trainers, and they could just fly up and go off stage when they aren't out in the battle.

For Kangaskhans down throw, she could also shove the opponent into her pouch, and wait. Comedic sound effects like cats screeching, car crashing, and goddamned Wilhelm screams would start going off randomly, as the pouch stretches and moves as if the baby were attacking the other fighter, and momma Kangaskhan would do a random “waiting” pose, like taking out a book, or looking at a watch that isn’t even there. The foe would then be spit out, and baby would be pay on the head for doing a good job. Good damage and combo ability, but maybe a bit too long. Kangas side b could just be throwing the baby, and it acting like a pikmin A bit of a change for Nidoking’s side b, Earth Power, I think that using it would plant a VERY obvious trap where the ground would glow orange, crack, and puff out a bit. It would change how you walk on it though. Using the special button again is the part where it’s an actual attack. Nidoking would thrust a fist into the air and the glowing spot would explode with crazy damage and knock back. Think a little like duck hunts side b but you can’t throw it. You can also put it on walls and even ceilings to use as a spike. Imagine putting this just below the ledge on battlefield! Wow. First time i saw this video didn’t even finish it cause I didn’t like it. Now I legitimately want Giovanni in Smash.

Jorge Pedro Jallo if we're counting characters who didn't debut in video games, I agree. Spider-Man even had that new PS4 game drop last year so it would make perfect sense to ride off that, given the logic that you must debut in a game didn't exist.

This is awesome! Now we (kind of) have a legitimate Pokémon villain, which we have never had since Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64. I can see Bowser, Ganondorf and Wolf welcoming Giovanni to the roster with open arms as a new Smash villain.

Another Final smash idea would be to use mewto in the armour used in the first film to do a Pokémon Tournament kind of Confusion (some psychic looking sparkles right before him) as a start up and then demolish everything with their psychic powers. (Like Sephiroths FS, multiple enemies can be drawn into the FS if it hits more than one with the start up)

I've heard of that argument, and I've heard it go both ways. But in terms of the name, this character's is Gee-oh-vah-nee. The pun off of the word Geode since he uses Ground Types, and that's just generally how its pronounced in all official media. And thanks!
You know, I was ready to see you do the Hoenn Trainer (and righteously argue against the inevitable Mudkip/Grovyle/Blaziken combo in favor of a Treeko/Combusken/Swampert variant) or maybe Blue, the Kanto rival. So this caught me by surprise, and in a good way. And hey, first villain character for this series. Double awesome points. As for trainers I'd like to see, maybe N from Gen 5. Those games were easily my favorite of the series, and he's a big part of why. I could see him using Zoroark (light and nimble), Klinklang (durable and strong), and Vanilluxe (ice specialist), with his Final Smash summoning Zekrom and/or Reshiram.
By the way, I still wanna see different third victory options. Here's what I had in mind. Giovanni will stand with his arms crossed, smirking. He will praise each Pokèmon in these respective ways as they do their thing. Rhydon will spin its horn, stomping triumphantly and posing with its arms raised and its fists clenched. Giovanni will say, "Excellent work, Rhydon." Nidoking wraps his tail around an upright log, snapping it in half! This is in reference to some of Nidoking's Pokèdex entries that talk about his powerful tail. Giovanni will say, "Well done, Nidoking." Both Kangaskhan will cuddle with each other. Giovanni will say, "I'm impressed, Kangaskhan."
I swear to god I have been thinking about Giovanni being in smash for months on end and somehow JUST ran into your video. I share like 80% of your opinions here, my original idea was just having Nidoking and Rhydon though, but I love the Kangaskhan inclusion!! I think while it’s unlikely we’d see another Pokémon trainer character, if they used Pokémon with similar body types and moves as seen here it would help cut down development time significantly. Also, I like the alt colors ideas, but it would be great if he actually had each Pokémon’s shiny color when running the Rainbow Rocket skin. One more thing; one idea I had that isn’t present here that you might like, is that with Pokémon Change or Down B, when used by Pokémon Trainer it acts like a spot dodge or air dodge right? Well seeing as Giovanni is a more ruthless trainer and also uses 3 Pokémon who would be combo food, why not give his down B a hit box and make it a combo breaking tool instead? The animation could look scarier and darker too, like a dark ball or something (even though he canonically uses ultra balls) Anyway this video is great, I’m glad someone went so in depth about this, if he ever does get added to smash ultimate I will absolutely be solo maining him. I got a really weird suggestion for a move set video. Try the Grox from Spore. They are the evil race from that game and the reason I suggest him instead of the protagonist is because the protagonist is entirely made by the player. I think they would use various weapons and attacks from many different parts of the game. The jab can be a bite attack. The forward smash could be a stroke attack. It can use the Grox spaceships as either a recovery or a final Smash. There is just many possibilities.

At the start of the trailer Giovanni is sitting in his chair in his office he has known about some Pokémon and trainers coming to join a fighting game, he has gotten upset when he learns they only want Pokémon in it, he wants to be in “GRUNT” he yells to get anyone’s attention y-yes sir? A grunt responds “make sure I get an invitation for this fighting game” make sure you steal it becasue that’s the on,y way you’ll get one.” After a few days they have found out secptile is the most requested for smash so they catch a sceptile holding a invataion for the game and give the invataion to Giovanni. “Now they, in this fighting will be blasted BY TEAM ROCKET AGAIN AND AGAIN!”

Ok i have a ideal for the third victory animation of each of Giovanni pokemon-it goes as you said until when Giovanni throws the pokeball in the air/rhydon-would lands on the ground while it used fissure as it looks at the screen with a glare while spinning its horns/nidoking- would come down by using megahorn on the ground which cause it too make a poison fountain from behind as it rains toxic spikes around itselves and giovanni as it punch the screen/kangaskhan-giovanni would mega evolved kangaskhan as it used giga impact followed by the baby using giga impact sends the camera flying as giovanni and kangaskhan would looks at the camera would a cold glare)
And maybe you will do other crime bosses and rivals soon like blue or Wally or ya boy Guzma. But the leader of the Ather Fpundation (Pokemon Sun) and her Ultra Beast would be interesting too. And just for laughs and a memorial Robbie Rotten as the first official meme in smash
I feel like he should scold his Pokémon upon being KO’d. It just seems like it’s in his nature to shout stuff at his own team like “You’re useless!” or “You should’ve tried harder!”
If the HGSS Admins are to be referenced, I would replace the white outfit with a purple one, to reference Petrel. That way, all four of them are there.
