He said "I'm not saying to make him the main character" then proceeded to make him the main character Real alternate title: What If Gohan Became The Main Character Of DBS
Just to add something…Gohan would be ideal to teach Broly how to control his rage/power as Gohan has the same issues of his anger releasing uncontrollable power.
I know this is a year old, but I think Vegeta would have pushed himself even harder in training if he even got a whiff that Gohan wasn’t being lazy. I actually think Gohan not being lazy would have driven the two to be closer training partners since Vegeta was a huge believer in Gohan’s potential, especially after Cell.
imagine the chemistry of Vegeta bonding with Kakarot's son. Gohan would be a mediator between the two. Imagine how Gohan would have an effect on Majin Vegeta! God dammit Gohan...
People talk about Gohan and what if he NEVER stopped training, but no one ever talks about what if Chi-Chi NEVER decided to sit around on the sidelines and fought to get Gohan the recognition he deserved as the man who defeated Cell! Seriously, she's all about money and education. However, she never thought about how if her son was recognized as the world's savior that would pretty much guarantee his future! GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS!
@@orlandobritt1460 lol when I say 'fought' I'm talking more along the lines of getting help from Bulma (considering she has enough pull to get media attention) to put the message out there that Gohan and the others are the REAL heroes!

@@oli8522 there is no way in hell that can happen! Jiren is stated to be stronger than a god of destruction, gohan will never be nowhere near that level!!
Gohan was originally written to surpass Goku. As a kid they said he was stronger than Goku. So he could of been the main character. I think that would of been better than still having Goku. The torch should of been passed a long time ago.
tbh i think Gohan should be the MC at least until the Buu Saga. He should be the one to beat Buu in his Ultimate form. After the Buu saga, Goku can be brought back to life and take back the mantle.
that's what Toriyama intended, but then many fans thought Gohan is too boring as a main character and DBZ took a hit on its popularity, so they bought Goku back and put Gohan aside.
Originally planned? Unlikely, I think Akira is a liar. He claims Piccolo is his favorite character (if I remember correctly) yet does him nasty in DBZ as a sideshow. Supposedly Gohan was supposed to replace Goku, yet he is thrown away as some sort of idiot who doesn't train to defend against whatever threat comes next. No, he wanted Goku to be the main character. Goku was his boy from the very beginning. Other characters overshadowed Goku in popularity and so had to be kicked to the curb.
The fans loved Goku way more than they did Gohan and that's why Goku was brought back and took center stage again. This was Toriyama's own fault really, he wrote Gohan as (brief power awakening moments of awesome aside) a spineless coward in a FIGHTING SERIES who was more of a liability than anything else which annoyed DBZ fans. Aside from his fight with Cell Gohan's only contribution was to function as a plot device to hold the villains back until Goku could show up. In a fighting series of course Goku, a kind and gentle warrior with a strong training ethic and endless bravery is going to sit better with fans than a guy like Gohan.
@@sapnavora6834 well Final Form Frieza was about equal to Super Saiyan Goku in the namek saga even after all the damage he sustained. It's arguable that had he not sustained the spirit bomb damage he'd have been even stronger than SS Goku. But the stamina drain of his 100% final form was greater than the stamina drain of SS.
@@sapnavora6834 Gohan should by evidence, has superior potential. Due to him being strong enough to 1v1 a full powered SSJB Goku fairly I’m only 9 days.
He literally killed krillin in front of both Goku and gohan. Goku was just at the breaking point after a tiring fight, but imagine if gohan freaked out in that moment as well. Frieza would have been dead in seconds.
With Gohan’s new power and attitude at the end of Super Hero, I hope we get a Gohan who does balance all aspects of his life and becomes Earth’s mightiest protector

@@ShimaS-0079 Yeah I agree with you completely. I’ve always thought the Buu saga is where most of DBZ and DBS problems began tbh. TBF toriyama said he kinda wanted to make gohan the MC and retire goku at the cell games arc completion. But it was poorly received so they rewrote goku coming back to life for the 10th(sarcasm) time.
Thank you... finally somebody who did a Gohan never stopped training video and didn't take Gohans ultimate form and throw it away for the SSGSS or something. Gohan should stick to ultimate. It's the only way that makes sense
Honestly, i always imagined that Gohan's mystic form could evolve too, in a similar way than SSGSS (but i thought about that way before the SSG release x) ) just because i'm pretty sure that there was a moment when Piccolo or Old Kai (not sure, need to read the manga again i suppose) says something like "Gohan is that strong ? And he is not even using Super saiyen ?". So, for me, the Mystic form always meant to be his new Base Form, and he would be able to get something above (not necessarily a Super Mystic form, but why not ?) Or maybe just getting a new Aura, like Trunks did.
Honestly his “mystic” form is essentially the pre-version on Ultra instinct since he said he never wanted to resort to Super Sayian again and he essentially does a huge power up in base form. Largest difference being the obvious power scaling, aura he still puts off and the self dodging I could see them making his mystic or ultimate a human UI version.
Agreed. In the manga, gohan states that he wants to achieve a form of his own for his Earth side. So throwing it away for another super Saiyan form is horrible. He needs a form of his Earth lineage. After all he is the first hybrid Saiyan.
@@OMAR-vk9pi Like. Gohan as he is presently written is obviously pretty bad, but I think the character has some good bones? Someone who's a bit of a dork, a lot of a nerd, but also contains a supreme suppressed rage is kinda neat? That rage is something they seem to want to build upon, but have frankly done a pretty poor job of showing imo. And the union of Saiyan and Human is a theme that they kinda have a bit with Goku but could have expanded upon more explicitly than they have using Gohan. Videl would also need to be improved, because the Videl Gohan relationship should be more central than the Chichi Goku one. Goku does a good job with strength for strength's sake, and a decent job of idiot hick mc (tho I understand that a few shonen do this, and Goku isn't really the best), which is kind of a natural fit for dragonball and it's themes, and that does lead to some good moments, e.g. Vegeta's tournament of power speech, but I think that Gohan could be written well.
@@tsawy6 yeah gohan isn’t all horrible he’s just not fit to be the main character without turning him to a different Goku is my point he’s should be written better and be involved though as like the 3rd strongest fighter

If Dragonball is to continue long way to the future I have a feeling that eventually there will be another ”Gohan -saga” where his developement is the point of focus as he has the most undiscovered ground to his character as a warrior. Even the Mystic -form itself is something to be yet fully revealed how deep it can go. Writers must know that fanbase is very eager to get to the bottom of it and Gohans powers as well.
How much further in the future do you think, in the manga it’s mainly Goku and Vegeta in the last 2 arcs after the tournament of power, as goku increases his skill and vegeta pretty much training to be the next god of destruction
In the upcoming movie, There is something called "awakened ultimate gohan" IDK whether this is a new for or a boost but I'm pretty sure this movie will be the beginning of piccolo and gohan becoming even more relevant in the next arcs
i feel like if gohan continues training, it would also make goku and vegeta stronger along with him. because vegeta would be upset that gohan is stronger than him and try to surpass him, and goku would probably be training harder being motivated by his son training hard
No, if he was not written to stop training he would be. I think people need to start realizing the fact that writers are making these decisions for multiple reasons. Money, direction, politics, social beliefs, personal beliefs, personal likes, how they feel etc. I feel like there could have been a real easy balance to Gohan's progress without hindering the character or even having him overshadow Goku which clearly was the direction. Instead they feel the need to hinder Gohan which I feel is a bad business decision because nobody likes it. Even Goku fanboys and I do mean fan boys, don't hate Gohan they just whine that he shouldn't be #1. But the writers see this as a let's only prop up Goku kinda thing. Vegeta gets constantly played for Goku. The original characters get crapped on for Goku like what has anybody really done up until the Tournament of power arc. The main fights are always decided by Goku in the end with sometimes the addition of Vegeta and then at some point they drag out Future Trunks, Freiza, Buu, Broly so some fans can clap clap clap like seels.
I'd argue that Vegeta would be considerably stronger in this story than he was in the Buu Saga. If Gohan continued to train then that would have put a massive goal for Vegeta to reach, potentially having Gohan become, at least temporarily, Vegeta's rival. They could possibly even train together sometimes, since Vegeta is less grumpy about Gohan than Goku.
I never liked vegeta. He couldnt reach ss2 without becoming a majin. He couldnt become ss4 without a machine built by bulma. Whenever he fights someone stronger like broly he hesitates and gives up half the time.
During the Goku Black Saga, I think eventually Gohan would probably be beyond SSB at this point with a new transformation. Plus I think he would've caught Whis' attention afterwards and would want to train him alongside Goku and Vegeta. At this point I doubt the Supreme Kais would be able to continue to train Gohan because he far outclass them. So it is only logical that Gohan trains with the Angel that trained the God of Destruction right?
no gohan wouldnt want to throw away his kai powers destruction wouldnt be a logical path for gohan since he doesnt like destruction this would always hinder his growth using god forms
I think if this was to happen, Gohan would be enough for Jiren, think about it, Gohan unlocked his Beast form with little to no training, so you can imagine that if he kept training at a constant level in the 7 years between the Cell and Buu sagas and then the extra time leading from the Buu saga up to the ToP, he most probably would have already unlocked Beast and been able to train with it thus increasing its control and power to a whole other level, making Gohan stronger than both TUI Goku and UE Vegeta in just the ToP arc
This basically just made Gohan the main character, which from what I’ve heard was the intention after the Cell saga, but people liked Goku too much and got upset so they brought him back
Imagine if Gohan's character WAS changed after Cell and he decided to be a warrior rather than a scholar. Devoting all his time to training. He would be Jiren levels of power.
@@matti.8465 Kind of...but their motives whilst similar are centrally flipped. Goku is driven by the thrill of challenge and protection comes second. Gohan is driven by the will to protect his loved ones and the thrill of challenge comes second. Goku saw how powerful Gohan was when he was just a small boy and thought that if he had the desire to battle like he did, then Gohan would be unstoppable. But Gohan is only half Saiyan and whilst everyone rags on Chi-Chi, she is still a good mother because she wanted Gohan to not just be a brawler but a thinking man also. This is what enabled Gohan to be a good husband to Videl, because Gohan knows what self-sacrifice and honour are in many ways and so he is a much more well rounded individual than the Saiyans, who just tend to be quite one dimensional in a lot of their behaviours and thinking. The Gohan in this scenario from the video *is* the Gohan we want to see. A Gohan that knows that whilst he is a loving/devoted husband & father, a gentle poet and scholarly man, it is no good to him or more importantly anyone else, if he cannot defend it from evil - and he knows all too well the unrelenting thirst, that evil has for its own ways. And that is why he trains, considering he's effectively been up against the most horrifying genocidal and oppressive forces the universe can throw at him in his past, up to the point in this video.
If Piccolo trained with Gohan for the 7 years, Gohans mastery of ss2 would be achieved. He would be on par with ss2 Goku. Piccolo would also be much stronger having trained with Gohan and would be able to anticipate and evade Dabura from turning him to stone. Piccolo would join the team in babidi's space ship. Inside the spaceship, Vegeta and Goku take out Pui Pui and Yakon. Piccolo then fights Dabura after saying he had seen his technique and steps up to fight. Dabura and Piccolo have an intense battle. During their fight, Piccolo tells Dabura that he was once referred to as a demon king himself. Vegeta gets impatient and insults Piccolo for not being able to finish Dabura quickly. Babidi sees that Vegeta is primed for majin control and took notes that Piccolo was was evil himself and succeeds to turn both Piccolo and Vegeta into Majin. Vegeta challenges Goku and Piccolo pretends to follow Babidi's orders, being able to control himself because Kami can influence him too. I could keep going forever but that's a good concept
Piccolo could not train Gohan to even ss1 level, it was thanks to Goku mastery that he could learn the form. Piccolo would not be stronger training with Gohan as namekian and sayan don't gain power the same way and at the same speed. Piccolo is not evil at all since he fused with kami to become who he were (the original namekian), he's actually one of nicest guy in DB now... Piccolo has no chance against Dabura who is close to the power of Cell, there is a reason why he just not fight even though is still training.
@@holorn1280 you underestimate Piccolo's growth through training. He went from losing to 3rd form Frieza to being able to get the better of Dr. Gero in just 3 years training with ssj Goku and base gohan. After his merging with Kami, and training in the time chamber I would put him above #17 in power. If he would train for 7 years with Gohan who is a ssj2, he would definitely get way stronger than in the cell saga just from the conditioning alone. Keep in mind Dabura is weaker than Super Perfect Cell, as Vegeta states that Gohan was stronger during the Cell games. As Gohan gets even stronger through mastering ssj2, it's safe to say that Piccolo could reach to be around Dabura's level. Might not be able to win, but he could hang with him. Also, Vegeta wasn't really evil either, Babidi just needs a little bit of conflict inside someone to infuse them with Majin power. Piccolo can still be aggressive towards his enemies, seeing as he doesn't hesitate to kill when he needs to.
What if he just sat with grand Kai every week for a day lol his potential would be unlocked and maybe have a mystic 3 form like he did in super lol it’d be like 30 times stronger than blue
I'm not sure saiyans who don't train actually lose any strength. They're not human and they stay in their prime until about 70 years old or so then crash hard and fast. So, their bodies not losing whatever gains their training brings them even when they don't train for a long time after that would be reasonable.
Yeah, that Gohan in the movies never stopped training. To think Goku, Vegeta and Trunks who were older at the time couldn't handle Broly individually but Gohan could.
Answer: he'd look exactly the same because the writer of dbs is a hack that can't do anything beyond 'goku wins after receiving a sudden and unexplained powerup.'
I like how you make Vegeta not object to Gohan handling fighting the big bads himself. In the original he would've been more arrogant about wanting to partake in the fights.
Well, Goku forged the form himself. Gohan probably wouldn't think about evolving Super Saiyan even further, the way Goku did, since Gohan would probably not see a reason to, since he's already the strongest fighter alive.
Chat was a little bit toxic, someone was spamming how to make arrows or something and another person was spamming a part 8 to a story Carthu didn’t even make Still a good video though
"Now... this may be shocking to some of you... but imagine the Tournament of Power, except Gohan... JUST BEATS THE PISS out of everyone he fights!" - Carthu's Dojo 2020 Gotta admit. I laughed WAY too hard at that
This was defiantly one of the best What-if scenario's I've seen, considering Gohan's potential is often overlooked or ignored. And although he was given Beast in 2022, I still think he hasn't been given the spotlight enough/or trained enough to earn it in my eyes. I would really love to see Toriyama create a bond between Broly and Gohan considering they both have amount less potential not to mention many rage and power issues and uncontrolled power. Defiantly a Great job Carthu! 👍🏾
Now this may be shocking to some of you, but imagine. The Tournament Of Power, except Gohan just beats the piss out of everyone he fights." That made me smile haha
@cool dude I think it's because raditz was already on his mission that saiyans do when they're very young so they didn't have to worry of him dying to frieza
The fact that Gohan could hold his against SSB Goku really shows he would have been up there with Goku and Vegeta. And that was just him after training for several days before the tournament started. Who knows how much strong he could have been. I would even say Gohan could have hold his own against Jiren for a brief moment if he never stopped training before getting knocked unconcious.
I mean yeah he did but not really ssb is a power control transformation he didn’t use all his power like gohan was. For example when ssb goku was kamahaha clashing with krillin and they even goku wasn’t using his full power
They could've had a cool arc with Gohan by switching one major detail in dragon ball super. Instead of Goku Black they could've had Gohan Black. It could've shown the difference in a Gohan 'had he never stopped training.' Would've been just as interesting having him kill his family. Would've been more interesting having Goku have to fight his own son to the death (potentially). Would've been interesting having Trunks fighting the very man and teacher that raised him in the future before altering the time line with the android saga. Most of all, it would've been finally giving fans what they wanted in seeing Gohan turned up to 11 without forcing the writers into a corner by making him another mindless warrior like the other main characters. He could've stayed true to studies after the arc ended. Then, when moving to the super Tournament of Power, we could've again seen Gohan tapping into this power (albeit temporarily) because he didn't continue training, but Gohan Black would've given the glimpse into that potential. Then having Gohan suddenly find this crazy power spike wouldn't be out of nowhere.
He chose goku because he was using God Ki, that was his final straw. A mortal using the power of the godswas like making a mockery of the gods themselves to him, no mortal should have that power... plus goku was the strongest shown with God Ki, thats why he didnt choose Vegeta, although his wanted him dead just as bad, he was jusg going to use goku's body/power to do it. That's why he didn't choose Gohan even though hes more powerful, gohan didn't offend him with God ki, he used his own mortal ki... although unlocked by a kaioshin, it's not the same thing as using a God form and it's doubtful he'd know a Supreme kai unlocked it anyway.
@@yamahakid450f That's exactly why it should be Gohan. If he's really trying to hurt Goku, what better way than by making him know what it feels like to kill his own son. It's way more interesting than a mirror match.
They'd be even more powerful than Gohan of Gohan had trained like them. Goten and Trunks have a higher potential given they were Super Saiyans from age 6/7 onwards.
I've always likened this comparison to "What if Obi-Wan never stowed away on Padme's ship, and Anakin grew even more powerful before an inevitable showdown with Obi-Wan later?" Or, in the above instance, maybe Padme talks Anakin back to the Light Side without Obi-Wan there (although he could never be a Jedi again). Maybe she brings up their first kiss on Naboo and talks him into leaving Mustafar with her. Better yet, "What if Anakin never killed Mace Windu, arrested Palpatine, and never turned to the Dark Side in the first place?" I mean, yeah, we're not talking about the same power scales here obviously, but the comparison is still very similar in their own respective universes. Both had the inner potential to be the most powerful warriors, and both were written out of that potential. Gohan became a pushover scholar, and Anakin lost a good number of his Midichlorians after having his remaining limbs cut off by Obi-Wan in one fell swipe. Then, his remaining Midichlorians were purposely supressed even further by the suit he wore as Darth Vader, because Sidious didn't want him rising against him. What things could have been like for both of them just makes me sad.. Feelsbadman.
The biggest issue with the way they’ve written Gohan is character development. When he stopped training after cell and wasn’t strong enough to fight Buu that was supposed to be the wake up call of “I need to keep training even if it isn’t my main focus and I want to study, start a family, etc.”. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. At the end of DBZ it looked like he learned this lesson, but the writers fudged his character up and chose to have him completely stop training AGAIN. Even with Goku back it should’ve been obvious to Gohan (and would’ve been tbh) that no matter what else happens he needs to keep his strength up. I’d say most Gohan fans are upset because the character isn’t supposed to be stupid and would’ve learned to at least keep some of his chops up during peacetime. Instead they made him barely be able to go Super Saiyan in Resurrection F and the stuff in The Tournament of Power was pretty much a poor attempt by the writers to make him “tough and relevant” again.
@@thegamereaper5730 still doesn't make sense because chi chi actually let gohan trained after cell games. She even trained goten herself for a while and let gohan participate in the world martial arts tournament.

My only issue with this is treating potential unleashed just like another transformation. I don't think that everyone necessarily has tons of potential to unlock, and even if they did, it doesn't mean that it would be as big as Gohan's. Taking Trunks to get it unlocked shouldn't be that much of a certainty, I think. Gohan having hidden power was something that was hinted since Raditz, it became synonymous with the character, so it made sense to end Z with that potential finally being completely unlocked, but it doesnt mean it can qork the same for everyone, I think. Otherwise, pretty solid scenario
Gohans character always makes me sad cuz of how much of his potential was wasted as a fighter but I’m somewhat fine with it just cuz he never rlly wanted to be a fighter anyway and wanted to be a scholar so in a way he has his happy ending
It’s not wasted, it’s just not his character. Dragonball would be in a whole new light and direction if gohan was the protagonist, and this is coming from a gohan fan. Gohan doesn’t enjoy fighting or trying to get stronger like goku does. He wouldn’t press the story on. The story would only continue of threats came to earth and not gohan looking for stronger fighters to fight and etc
