It is a dream come true to have my own game featured on this channel. I've been loving the Nuclear Throne series of yours and I also check out a Revita episode every now and then. Thank you so much for playing! A little wall of text on the meta progression tree: I have been so surprised that so many people do not like meta progression. I love it personally, because if I fail a lot it makes me improve with every run, it's what kept me going in Vampire Survivors, but maybe that's just my inner ARPG player (Diablo, Path of Exile, ...) that makes me want to just progress permanently. Anyways, I will make the meta lighter and also add a thing to disable it completely if you wish to. Be assured, you can beat the game without speccing a single point in the tree, that was and is important to me.

Meta progression has always just felt like a cheap solution to balancing, forcing the player to sink hours into a game just to get a minuscule upgrade that doesn’t really feel good. Different strokes for different folks though, I love the brutally hard games and being forced to learn. The way you’re doing it where you don’t need to use the skill tree to win is perfect. Games like Vampire Survivors, 10 min til dawn, etc use it as a way to gate the user from actually progressing in the game, forcing them to spend more time playing a game where it’s impossible to win in the current state. It just feels bad and scummy. I think there’s room for it to work both ways but I will always prefer a game that uses a meta currency for new features, unlocking new room types, new weapons, items, even enemies. Then you drip feed in the harder and funkier content as the player gets more used to the game. Revita did that really well to me, as did Neon Abyss. Rogue Legacy does it a bit…but they definitely are plagued with the dark meta curse as well. Again, just food for thought. I love the gameplay you have here though, special little game :)

@@OlexaYT Thanks! Be assured, (without promising too much) more difficulty and content that can be unlocked over time will come - it's kinda why I am in early access. EDIT: So much fun to discuss game design and see other peoples perspective! And finally I can talk about my own game, hehe.

This game has so many inspirations/references to Dark Souls! The little bonfire on the screen where u choose your character, Gold Pine Resin to imbue lightning to your weapon, weapon damage scaling being not only graded with letters but also being able to scale off more than one stat at once (like S strength scaling means it's default number will increase alot based on your strength while E strength scaling means it will only increase a little more. Having E on strength stat and B on dexterity means it also takes from the strength scaling but it's main stat is the dexterity which it has B scaling with), enemies/bosses having weakness to certain elements which your weapons can have, the curse status effect halving your health and souls being the currency for level ups is also from Dark Souls. And theres more. The creator must definitely be a Dark Souls fan

I believe the letter under the weapon is a dark souls esc system. So essentially A tier scaling with intelligence would give you lots of extra damage with each level and E tier scaling would only give you a little bit, you can also have weapons that have like E strength scaling and B dexterity scaling.

If this game had the meta progression system instead be an unlock system for new boons, weapons, armors, or consumables, it would pretty much make the game top-tier

Hey Olenky, been watching your videos and streams for a while, a passive viewer per se, but I saw that on the bottom right of the screen, your have some stars that show you an additional damage that you do, they are of the blue collor, everytime you kill an enemy that "star bar" go up, so, I think that your mana is related to that, and is simply an Attack Up that you have, this in the case of magic attacks.

This is probably the closest we will get to a roguelike mode to Archvale, a lot and I mean A LOT is taking inspiration fron Archvale, and I think that is awesome asf

Alright, let's go. The stats don't do anything aside from scaling your weapon and giving you extra Health/Stamina/Mana once you get to 10/20/30 of each (at least from what I've observed, can't play the game lmao). The letters on items regarding stats is how much they "scale" with that stat. AKA, a weapon with A on strength gets more benefit from it than a C weapon. I do not know how the numbers are, but a better letter does not mean a better weapon (as you saw with the spider tome). It just means that it gets stronger faster as you increase your stats. The Proficiency stat makes it so every letter on a weapon goes a level higher. So a weapon with C scaling becomes B scaling for each point of proficiency on that stat. The perks you get every 5 levels depend on what stats you have. If you have more strength, you'll get more red perks, if you have more dex, you'll get more green perks, same for intelligence. But just because you have 20 Dex and 2 Int, it doesn't mean you'll never see a Blue perk, it just means you are less likely to. Health comes in incrememnts of 20, for whatever reason. Each 20 health is one heart. Soul Hearts and Armor protect you against hits to your main health, as the game thought you. Stamina is just how many dashes you have. It takes a bit to regen, so the game wants you to use them wisely. Mana is a little different. When you are using a weapon with intelligence scaling, you have a mana bar on the bottom right. It depletes itself over time, slowly going down to zero. The more mana you have, the more damage you deal. Every magic weapon has a chance to generate stars as you use them to refill the mana, allowing you to keep the buff for longer. I do not know what Luck does. Probably makes any weapon/money/item/drop/etc you get just have a higher chance to be better/rarer. When the game says "On Hit" it means when you hit the enemy, not the other way around. The stats on weapons are sorta of irrelevant by the way. Just use the weapon and see if it's good or not. Comparing items might as well not be a feature, because every weapon is so different from the next one. All the other stats seem to not have much of a use right now, but I'm assuming the dev is going to work on implementing more and more of them and making them relevant over time.

Omg Tyler, you're playing way too many good games, I can't decide what I want a series on D: Right now Baba is You must absolutely be finished (or played until you feel like it's getting too difficult), but I would love more episodes on Isle of Arrows. This one could be great as a series, but you could just wait until it gets released because you KNOW people are gonna ask for it as soon as Hutts or Retro cover it. Potion craft seems to be closing in (well, you still have to make the philosopher stone, but it's gonna be so messed up to make it that I would consider it finished if you just unlock the recipe to make it). Novi cube seems fun for a weekly episode thingy or whatever. I haven't watched plate up, even though I love everybody there, I guess it just kinda got boring to me but I could change my mind out of nowhere and binge watch it all in a day, who knows, so if you like doing it, keep at it. The indie taste test games are all so freaking good, would love atleast a full episode on ALL of them (well, I guess not on the plate-fragile-glass-guy game, since you basically finished that one already, but all the other ones look awesome).

The pixel art is really nice, reminds me of Downwell or Caves of Qud which have also got nice pixel art that uses blank space (or the colour black) to portray more than you can see

Cant wait to play this game 🙏 But this game already seems too easy and even has meta progression already. The dev has to adress the enemy difficulty TBH. Anyway, hope this game sells well so it gets lots of content.

The 3 colored letters represent how well the damage scales with each attribute. So if there’s an E in ranged and S for magic, your damage will increase better with each magic level. While the Range will still scale, it’ll just be less damage.

This game just looks like worse Archvale but with meta progression. Fortunately Archvale is amazing so this game seems pretty good.
