To argue over anyone’s intentions is merely conjecture and an exercise in futility. One can make wrong decisions despite the best of intentions. That is why any organization where one man is head and shoulders above his peers and becomes the primary decision maker, is never going to be as good as one where decisions are made by consultation amongst many. Muslim League had structural problems in its hierarchy and that was the root cause of erroneous decisions gaining irreversible traction. There is no point in maligning anyone’s intentions.

Perhaps sometimes separation is better to love your closed ones more. As a Bangladeshi, I think the country that benefitted the most from India Pakistan separation is our Bangladesh. Bangladesh kept our Bangla language and culture more protected. Actually, Bangladesh represents the oppressed low caste Hindus and the oppressed low caste Hindus who later on converted to Islam. We tend to forget that the high caste Bangali land lords used to have their palaces in Kolkata and from there they used to rule the poor East Bangalis as the Jamindars or Land Lords. Those oppressed Bangalis supported the Pakistan movement to seek some breathing space and freedom from the powerful Hindu Land Lords of West Bengal. So we decided to be part of East Pakistan. But then we have noticed West Pakistanis want to be our rulers too. So, in 1971 East Bengal or East Pakistan became my beautiful Bangladesh. No doubt India helped us 1971; but we East Bengalis also helped Indian freedom from the British Rule. A lot of Indians tend to forget that. Since Independence Bangladesh is progressing. Now, we should do more business with India and Pakistan. But we Bangladeshis must keep our distance from Indians and Pakistanis at the same time; because they hate and look down on Bangladeshis. This is a fact. Bangladeshi tourism and import dependency with India must be reduced in the near future. We should have stronger border walls with India and grow our own cattle. We should strictly reduce any religious extremism at all cost. I do not want my beautiful Bangladesh to become the next Pakistan or Afghanistan. We should look towards the further east and try to follow Singapore and Malaysian model of economy and develop Bangladesh. Jodi tor dak shune keo naa ashe tobe ekla cholo re. I am from Punjab Pakistan, one of my great uncles, who was a trader/merchant from a small village area of Punjab, before the partition, once took a business trade journey via train all the way from Pakistani Punjab to Pune South India, and came back with a Bride. Villagers were surprised, but Welcomed the Bride, and she won everyone's heart, a very nice lady, may Allah SWT rest her soul in peace as she recently passed away. Now you can not imagine this thing to happen. But this real life story and many others can happen all over India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. Uniting people thru businesses and marriages, as it used to happen, before partition. Love Unites, Hate Divides. We are Same People All over South Asia, whether from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal. We have same ancestors. We are One Ethnicity, just like Chinese Ethnicity which is represented in not only China, but Japan, and Korea, as well as much of South East Asia. Our Common Ethnic Bond, is much stronger within these South Asian Countries.

18 months ago, when I suggested re-unification (in the comments section of some other YT videos) there was a lot of negative feedback, most from Indians who made it sound like it would be sacrilege. I too used the two Germanies as example of why this might work. It is heartening to hear this. Of course, if Partition had never happened, given the size of independent unpartitioned India, the trajectory of history would have been very different. Today, one of the best ideas emerging was by someone in these comments suggesting India-Bangladesh-Pakistan (as possibly other counties) be inspired by the EU plan and adopt open borders, common currency, and some sort sort of a federalist union. Resuscitate SAARC and rename it SPARK! If nothing else, it could eliminate unnecessary internecine fights. It would be marvelous if this happened in my lifetime.😍

My mother's father was a victim of communal violence. He was murdered as he walked to work in a Hindu neighborhood. As he was stabbed in the back by a Hindu, there were other Hindus who tried to save his life. They did not succeed. While we cannot change the past, we can certainly change the future by reconciling our past. A better way forward is to create a model like EU where Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, later adding other regional countries. Lets find a better way forward.

It's the western world which is trying to make a united Europe in their own region and also trying to employment the theory of "Divide and Rule" in the rest of the world. I am from Pakistan, and I really liked your video. Common Pakistani want peace with India. I remember when I was a kid I used to watch cricket and I used to believe that the Indian team is our team because people are similar to us but then I was told that they are our enemy. But I don't believe this point, because if we are enemies then how come our ancestors lived happily for hundreds of years. Indians and Pakistani outside their countries in abroad respect each other and work together but when they are in their country these politicians keep on reminding us that we are enemies. Hopefully, this will end one day and we can easily make friends and visit each other cities similar to European union.

@FORTUNE GAMING YT USA and Canada have literally have a geographic latitude, great lakes and freakin oceans separating them. They have no shared history whatsoever. Even if you leave that the land area is SO BIG it requires 2 countries. On the other hand, border between India and Pakistan makes no sense in any manner. In fact, India-Pakistan-Bangladesh border were created to incite hatred and create small weak countries that will collapse eventually. You cannot even compare these two situations.
