The added territories might cause mild instability, but there's no reason why they would seek full independence. (and if they did, the whole of Ethiopia would be split in half).

I think the civil war is far fetched, the scenario is really entertaing tho! I think that if Italy lost in the non-communist route, it would still change things significantly as Mussolini would either be dismissed in favour of a conservative democrat, or he'd start another war he would lose. Probably against Greece. Only, this early on there is not going to be any help from Germany, and Britain would be succesful in aiding the Greeks and push Italy out of Albania. They would lose all their colonies, and Mussolini would be even more hated. A neutral Italy would not force the British to focus on North Africa, and Greece might be amenable to stationing British bombers in their country that could be used to threaten Romanian oil fields. Without any oil from North Africa or Romania, Hitler's campaign against the Soviet Union would be in jeopardy and he would have to postpone it to invade Greece. Only in this timeline, the British and Greeks are in position to stop or slow Germany down, and even if they're overrun on the mainland, an orderly retreat and greater focus on the Greek theatre would allow the Allies to hold on to many islands from which to bomb Romania. With oil rapidly running out and the timetable for Operation Barbarossa pushed back, the Germans would either hastily launch their invasion and be less succesful, or it would be pushed back to spring 1942, at which point the end of Soviet purges and rearmament process would make the German invasion much more difficult. They might not reach Stalingrad this time before the tide begins to turn. With control of the Aegean Sea, Churchill's obsession with the 'soft underbelly' of Europe would be more pronounced, but the commitment to Greek liberation would mean a Balkan front is certain. Why would Germany start Barbarossa while leaving a communist Italy alone? I think Germany would have invaded after the fall of France. Leaving a country with an ideology hostile to yours alone is very weird. Also after a civil war Italy would have been like Spain, too battered to go to war.

As a Sicilian i think that if italy went in a civilwar then the evis in sicily would have declared the sicilian republic and would have fought against the italian monarchy and would have declared a free republic and since the ideology was kinda socialist maybe they would have made an agreement with the italian comunists and made sicily free but neutral or sicily would have been invaded again and reintegrated

I think italian communism would be more accepting of relligiosity but still have some interesting theological divergences

At the end, you forgot that Germans originally planned to invade USSR a month earlier, but were disrupted by Balkan Campaign, so they'd have a better outcome after Barbarossa (or even a complete succes), thanks to additional month before winter
