Awesome playing, altho Jason’s arpeggios are a super small part of his style. He’s one of the music uniquely expressive guitarists I’ve ever heard and it’s not because of the sweeping arps
i feel like a lot of people ascribe sweeps to Jason's playing, and while he did use them on occasion, it was always to serve and create the melody. a lot of his focused solos, even his early stuff, and then the things he has written with his eyes since he's been paralyzed, really don't rely on sweeps much at all. He would probably throw one in here or there, but I think we would have heard a lot of dynamic chromatic, bluesy, and jazzy sounds from him, and a lot of use of the wammy bar to create some really cool sounds. As insanely good as a player he was, he has and is an even better composer, and I'm sure if he was still playing and was asked to put solos in these places he would still surprise us in ways we could never imagine. I always get so mad because my country (the USA) totally lied to start wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc, and we have spent more than 6 trillion dollars on that stuff and all it has done is kill people and mess things up, but if we put $6 trillion towards medical research we could have cured ALS and he'd be playing again by now - and we'd have cured cancer and a dozen other horrible illnesses.
Rad technique mate, so good. I'd to love to hear you play more in the style of Marty. More emphasis on note choice and bends. Do you have any videos with slower, more melodic playing?
