Kinda like the Grand Fleet series, I can already imagine each Strawhat getting a "____'s Daily routine" (or whatever fits them best, Recipe for Sanji's day, Franky's SUPER maintenance, Zoro's daily regimen etc)
@@JakeSmith-mq5dcI like that idea. Like, perhaps T-Bone annoys him so much with his constant talking so Helmeppo tries every possible not straight sword he can get his hands on, eventually ending up with pair of kukuri. Meanwhile T-Bone is ticked off by his choice, but chooses to train him anyways. I could see this being purely comedic scenes, maybe with some character development woven subtly in
Tbh it would make more sense for Helmeppo to get them from Bogart. He would be the ideal fencing instructor from what we've seen and canonically it seems to be the case. Coby focusing on Garp's fighting style, while Helmeppo focuses on Bogart's.
The way Oda is writing the story of Koby and the SWORD marines really does feel like he’s leaving open the opportunity for a spinoff that fills in the gaps.
Something I just realized. Does Alvida know that Coby has become so strong? He's classified as a Hero, so he must be well-known, and Alvida is now a Yonkou Commander by technicality, under Buggy. Coby likely has a bounty on his head from the Cross Guild, so I feel it'd be very amusing to see Alvida's reaction to learning that Coby, that sniveling brat she used to torture, is now a captain, a HERO, personally trained as the successor to Garp the Fist.
She was formerly a Shichibukai's commander so they may have worked together. And she had to know about Coby previously because he was always in the news.
After One Piece ends, I want Oda to be the supervisor of any spin-off. Like it's still seprete from his work, but has the approval from him. Basically like Live Action One Piece.
It's already out there. There's an Ace spin off about his journey when he was in Spade pirates, i think it was by Bocchi. There's also another spin off for Law for how he met Bepo, Sachi, Penguin but can't remember who's the author. I think he can totally do more, but he's such a perfectionist when it's choosing the right person he can trust, so it couldn't be just anyone for him. I'm totally on board this idea tho, it has huge potential to broaden the stories without Oda having to do it himself
I like the idea of the Tournament and the reward being a Fruit. Give motivation for some lower ranks to fight hard if they could potentially get a fruit which seems difficult for Marines to get a hold of in comparison to pirates who don't have the world government to prevent them from eating fruits.
It also helps explain why so many of the higher ranking Marines all have devil fruits, with the only two notable exceptions being Garp and Beauregard. from the fleet admiral, to the four admirals and to many of the other higher ranking officers and rear admirals. most if not all of them have Devil Fruits; even in Tekking's FF retelling of Koby's life; most of his generation with the exception of himself, Full-body, Jango, and Helmeppo; all his close group all attain Devil fruits. Especially with how the WG controls information of and circulation of certain fruits, so it makes sense for the Marines to have events where they can empower their soldiers after seeing them prove their worth.
I think the first supernova Koby meets needs to be X-Drake, that would make Koby question why a Rear Admiral would betray the Marines. It would also be cool to see Koby trying to fight Drake, and Drake holding back just showing how superior his basic skills are compared to Koby's and the gap between Koby's current rank and a former Rear Admiral. At this point in the story Koby could get a hint about Sword from Boggart. The second supernova he meets can be Law after the timeskip. Koby can put a decent fight against Law using armament Haki, until Law starts using armament and bodies Koby and just like he did Tashigi spares his life because "The weak can't choose how to die". Also, Law fighting Koby could trigger a Corazon flashback, making Law ponder about good marines.
I love thinking about the idea of the "Marine Academy", where all the commissioned officers went for a few years before being scattered to the Four Blues and the Grand Line. I'd imagine it's at Marineford (as we saw with the Garp flashback). I'm actually planning to incorporate that into the One Piece campaign I'm planning, with the previous generation (like Kuzan, Sakazuki, T-Bone, Bellemere, Daddy Masterson) being fresh graduates being shaped by the early years of the Great Pirate Era.
I absolutely love seeing you pick into the story of Koby. It speaks so highly of Oda's world and writing that anyone can spin tales about the thousands of characters that have appeared in the series, and have them feel realistically grounded in both the setting, and the real timeline of OnePiece's events. It doesnt just read like fanfiction where you think "Why the hell are any of these people here right now?". Amazing video, would love the sequel
We also don't know where Kuro is in the Manga as well. How neat would it be if Morgan met back up with the man he thought he killed all those years ago, and they team up because why not.
Hey Tekking, this might or not relate to this video; but there is a One Piece fanfiction called "Coby's Choice." The premise is that Koby, upon seeing Axe-Hand Morgan's corruption decides to join the Straw Hat pirates instead of becoming a Marine. He becomes more of a main character in that story.
I always liked the idea that Koby has a rivalry with Law, so I'm all for Koby meeting Law before Rocky Port for buildup. Also, during the time skip, it would be cool to have Koby and friends meetup and/or fight other Supernovas.
The Marine Rookie Tournament Arc sounds so cool, I honestly really hope that it actually gets mentioned in the actual canon storyline. Also the Rocky Port Arc and retelling of Marineford sound very interesting too. I'd give this manga a read if it became a thing (Also the part about the bathrooms on "Chili Thursday" being worse than God Valley had me dead LMAO)
Hey Tekking, big fan, I loved this series! As a baker I was a bit sad Morgan didn't open a bakery, but the log cabin makes more sense. Post time skip vid would be cool!
This video needs way more views. That’s a compelling and tightly woven tale of the adventures of Koby. Hope this gets more eyeballs on it and who knows…someone might even draw/animate it
The part where Koby meets a Supernova, could be about Drake. This would add to Koby arc about learning how complicated the marines and the world really are.
I'd read it. I love Koby, he's basically the marine protagonist and I wish we saw him more often. A one shot or spinoff would be amazing tbh, doubt it'll ever happen tho.
This is great. You and I were on the same wavelength about the "Return of Axe-Hand Morgans" arc. My only tweak would be that maybe the conflicted feelings about lying in the report push Helmeppo to consider defecting, and it's only afterward that he and Koby find out about and join Sword at the same time.
Absolutely loved this video, I’d love it if you did other theoretical spin-off videos like this with other characters since there’s so many you could pick from
I pray that at the end of One Piece, Oda finally decides to give us the fans closure, by showing both Luffy and Koby being both King of the Pirates and Admiral Marine at the end of the show. And then it'll say "The End" at the finale. To me that's the perfect ending, it could be that or probably where... Luffy gives back the hat to Shanks, and then we get to see the Straw Hats when they're old and have fulfilled their duties and roles in their lives. But also giving us fans that 𝙎𝙋𝙀𝘾𝙄𝙁𝙄𝘾 type of closure we could also need, where basically you see the Straw Hats giving Luffy his credibility, honor and respect he has gotten over the years as their "Captain of the Going Merry and Thousand Sunny", and doing an official final run of the very first intro to One Piece in the form of "We Are", and do a spectular beautiful performance for us the fans as a final "Hoorah" and say "We thank all of fans around the world for giving us hope, inspiration and love over these decades. So from the staff and from Oda himself of One Piece, We Thank You All for Joining Us since 1999. As we sign off with a final celebration of all the characters from One Piece."
It would be cool to see some of the characters redrawn from Koby’s perspective so Alveta looks hellish like a gorosei demon and luffy looks super chad-ly with a squared chin because to him they are being beyond himself
I think in a Helmeppo v. Jango matchup it’d just be a double knockout at Jango puts them both to sleep and the final round gets to be a 3 person royal. I love this concept, Tekking!
I'm kind of disappointed that Oda neglected Helmeppo a lot in Hachinosu, him not being able to even cut a canon is bad at this point (East Blue Zoro already could btw). Great Video!
It was really enjoyable for me to listen you in your expectation, hope you make a second part with post timeskip and a third from the point we are now until the end of the manga
In this fanfic, I'd like to imagine Koby talking to Captain Morgan in prison and Morgan tells him something like "I used to be a greenhorn recruit like you. I used to believe in justice. But then one day we got a visit from the Gods. I learned the only real justice comes from force, you must rule with an iron fist." It wouldnt be revealed straight away, but hes referring to a Celestial Dragon visiting the island decades ago and shattering his naive view of Justice when he was at the bottom of the marines.
One thing that would be interesting to see from behind the scenes is how Garp reacted to Ace being caught and subsequently handed in. He puts on a brave face when he's standing atop all of Marineford but i don't doubt that behind closed doors he would've reacted very differently.
I think it would be cool to see Koby going around with Helmeppo and cleaning up all the Villains that the Straw hats defeat such as Kuro, Morgans, Krieg, Nero, Arlong and other such characters that we don't really see again after they are defeated by the Straw Hats.
Awesome video! you can do so much with this concept. One thing I would like is if Koby interacts with one of the warlords in some way pre timeskip. Also I don't think there should be a timeskip for Koby or maybe only 6-12 months and really start having Koby go on some important missions, developing his sense of justice, honing his skills, developing haki etc.
I do like the concept and ideas you have Tekking, I'd personally like to have Hibari and Koby face off in the tournament, but that's just me. Everything else was really cool, hope they eventually do this someday. I love the concept of the Marines in One Piece.
A. I would love to see a part II, but AFTER Oda reveals the Rocky Port incident. To put it simply, how that goes will affect everything you would say in the New World. B. Morgan Returns Arc: excellent idea, but I would suggest that something be included about the discovery of Captain Kurou. That would be a huge blow to Morgan's ego. Maybe THAT is why he never starts everything. He now thinks that he is a fraud. C. Enies Lobbey. This is the only complaint I have of the entire project. If you include Helmeppo on the sea train, that is where Helmeppo is during Enies Lobby: pure and simple. Additionally, Coby would have to make it back to Water 7 a couple of days after the Revolutionary Army Arc. It would make more sense that the RA arc takes place on the Grand Line, and that Garp comes to pick up Coby and Helmeppo. That would then be an explanation as to why they meet up with Luffy when they do: they're picking up Helmeppo.
I always enjoy the mind of Tekking. I like a bunch of One Piece RU-vidrs for different reasons, but just overall I love Tekking and his in-depth videos about the series (silly or serious) love ya man
Tekking please make a part 2 to this video. I can realistically see this being a new series after One Piece is done. Koby is Luffy's Marine Parallel so seeing everything from Koby's perspective was be so dope!
You know funny enough with Koby being the main character first would be interesting (love that you include T Bone), but he is kind of the main character in the manga spinoff called “One Piece School”
PART 2! I want to see Coby working alongside a Warlord's crew. It could be Buggy's Delivery Service, and Coby has to work alongside Alvida who is now immune from receiving the justice that Coby knows that she deserves. Also, it would be funny if Coby still thinks of her as ugly as before, due to her black heart, the hourglass figure does nothing for Coby after all the trauma. You could even have a Hibari ship momenet Tekking where Alvida is bullying Hibari and Coby claims Hibari is the most beautiful woman after being forced to pick due to peer pressure or stick it to Alvida again.
its probably more possible than you think - with how they're fleshing out coby in the live action, they might actually make this a reality (with oda's blessing of course) imagine all the marine lore we can delve into!
I’d personally prefer for a spin off manga to be a sequel, showing stuff that happens after the ending of the regular manga, probably with flashbacks to stuff like what you described.
even though this would be really cool, it would also be very similar to other manga out there where the main characters are either part of or have to work inside the system they are trying to improve/fix/become the leader of... along the way finding out the people on top are corrupt, but there are still good people in the middle/lower ranks wanting to do good but couldn't find the courage to do so until they run into the protagonist.
Personally it would be funny to make Hibari be a similar waifu as Hancock was to Luffy. When shes first introduced, shes this hard, cold the literal daughter of Akainu, really similar to Todoroki. However, something happens during the tournament and Hibari has this insane infatuation/obsession with Coby, but unlike Hancock, she just generally looses her cold aura, but rather has become a happy and giddy person. That would be cool
Hey I was thinking at the same thing before you made this video of a spin-off manga set in the canon It could have been like a detective adventure story like the adventures of Tintin as an example
Koby is a masculine name with Hebrew, and Swahili roots. Traditionally used as a nickname for Jakob, this name translates to “supplanter” or “holder of the heel,” making for an adorable alternative to a classic moniker.
I usually hate what ifs and long theory videos from other RU-vidrs. You just make this type of stuff so entertaining and I really feel like this could have happened
Maybe make a follow up where you talk about Koby's involvement with the Reverie, more in depth with him going after Boa, then the whole time that he was captured by Blackbeard
Big News Morgan getting his first vol cover is pretty hype and Koby with Helmeppo among others following their story would be pretty fun and exciting. I'd totally be down for that though and I can only imagine all the dope spin-offs that will come.
This was a great video to add to the other odd topics you have covered. If this is never adapted into anime or mange then it might as well be canon for everyone who watches your stuff. We will need the ending. ❤
So with the training arc, I'd love to see hellmeppo tell Prince off for insulting Koby behind his back, or calling him weak. All without Koby knowing of course.
You do realize that Koby and Luffy had a brawl in the bar before he and Zoro left and the marines accepted him then So a tournament like in Naruto I think Hepmeppo needs to report finding his dad, but maybe between him and Koby deciding he's not worth bringing in, it's decided that the Marine watch is dropped, but if he ever causes trouble, the marines will know what they're dealing with
