I love how Bob is like "whose argument is better" when his argument was literally just "I just think it's morally wrong" and did not go any further while Mark had a whole musical number and everything 😂
That’s hard for me to believe. Mark really never seems to have ulterior motives. And Wade acts too much the fool to be evil. I’m this trio, Bob is clearly the most akin to Satan
lets make an argument: given the event that the superior aliens want to dine on humans, and we have some say in this, lets assume that if we resist, the aliens will simply obliterate us all, or will incarcerate the entire population. Whereas, if we try to strike a deal, we can save human existence by collaborating with a "no end" policy. In this, we nogotiate that the killing of the human race not exceed our ability to replinish our population, giving a long term food source to the aliens AND possibly buying humanity time to eventually fight back and overpower our new found overlords. The certain end of our species, or possibly time to fight back.
Missed the opportunity to use the overpopulation angle. Same reason hunters hunt is the same reason aliens would eat humans. Maintaining a healthy population.
Not to mention like, who are we to judge aliens for eating us when we humans eat animals all the time? And it's inhuman for people to eat each other but it's not in-alien to eat the local wildlife. Hell, if we went to space and landed on a new planet we would probably do the same and eat the local wildlife to survive. It's just nature.
I agree with the dog thing. As a woman, I'd rather have a loyal dependable guardian that only lives for ten years, then a screaming pooping insanely expensive tumor that I have to turn into a person.
See I would’ve gone with the typical nihilistic ‘humanity destroys everything we touch anyway so we might as well all get eaten’ argument, kudos to Mark for being creative with his answer 🤣🤣
I have heard an account on one of the Donnor Party survivors which claimed the man choose to eat human over whatever animal was available simply because he thought humans tasted better to him 🤨 Other points Mark could have added to his argument: 1. The consumption of humans is humanely done - no slow death or mutilation before being eaten and so on like a certain girl on the internet did who I will not name because her material is VERY hard to watch and I grew up on horror even hardcore gore horror so I'm not easily grossed out - I know it's different when I know the horror films are fake but it's the closest I can manage from personal experience. Not sure if she's still on the internet or not anymore. 2. Humans are the most destructive animal on the planet - we're responsible for quite a few animals going extinct or no longer being in a region due to over hunting or deforestation. We're also the cause of climate change and pollution. 3. Humans are the only animal that hunts other animals for sport.
The first two points are valid, but you are incorrect to say that we are the only species to hunt animals for sport. Other animals can absolutely hunt for pleasure rather than necessity- for example, cats are notorious for being surplus killers. Have to edit real quick because i sounded way too serious lol
We aren’t animals. It’s why we can think and reason and have a conscience, unlike animals. We were created in God’s image, and that’s been corrupted by sin. Animals don’t regret it when they kill each other, steal from one other, etc. but most humans regret the evil they do or feel guilty about it.
@@boopdoop2251 I'm a Christian as well, but I don't disagree that we are animals. I respect and understand your opinion though. You're definitely right that we were blessed with higher intelligence and moral skills than other animals. That is a very clear distinction. I just personally don't think of "animals" as any derogatory term, so I consider us all animals and God's creations.
We all get eaten eventually. Everything is food for something else. Even us. When I die I want to be buried without a coffin or embalming so it's easier for the bugs and worms to do their jobs. Animals eat other animals and even people on occasion. Plants eat dead animals and people, people and animals eat plants, that's how it goes. People only feel superior because it's harder for animals to kill and eat us nowadays, but that doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day, we're just meat, the same as any other animal. You can't escape being digested. It's the inevitable end of all things, life eats itself to continue living.
well its very easy to argue why it wuld be moraly acceptable, as humans eat cows, pigs etc. which we consider ourselves superior to intellegence wise, so humans has no moral highground about arguing against them eating us, we can defend ourselves of course, but it would be no different than a human eating a steak
Well obviously it i morally correct for why wouldn't they consume nutritional value? Why would we consume cow? Or pig? Or deer? It is not about correctness it is about the way the world works
mark will have maybe won me over if he turned it into a transaction where say we let them eat the prisoners that have no parole while having a life sentence and in return we get a hole lot of cool stuff and increasing the quality of life maybe cure the most harsh medical issues like cancer covid the week it happened and robotic limbs that where cheap and fantastic then honestly it can be seen has a not super high amount of bad of a thing? if i had the choice in front of me honestly i will have said yes to it if that makes future deals even more crazy i dont know and will have to think maybe any murderer that had 20+ years without parole/fully proven even after say 5-10 years in prison and like 50+ of age maybe thats room to debate has well? it all depends if they are truly dangerous to us and or truly able to help in massive and universal ways to make it so everyone ells has a fantastic life without hunger and medical issues and feel safe still not sure what choice i will have made tho but maybe this will be a debate in the future i have no idea (and will most likely not live to see this kind of debate)
BTW my answer would be because we eat other animals because we think we're superior to them and they don't have high enough intelligence to be consider like us, Aliens would just see us as we see cows and burgers, I think it's pretty arrogant of us to think we are not food to others
I propose that, to start, it isn’t cannibalism because the aliens would be a different species than humans, and secondly, humans eat inferior life forms such as chicken and pig and cow, so why should the aliens not eat inferior life forms?
I was expecting “well alien morals may be different to them we may be like cows, chicken, or beef. We do taste like pork after all!” But no. We got Be our Guest and that was 100 times better
