Forgiveness. Is it something earned? Or something given? When we make a mistake, can we ever work back from where we messed up? While we may want to, such is the case with Obito, we can never undo the bad things we’ve done, even if we try burying it with good deeds. So if forgiveness can’t be earned by doing good deeds, then how? Well, that’s the point. Since we cannot undo what we’ve already done, the only recourse is through mercy. Forgiveness for the sake of forgiveness. True unconditional love. Previously, Obito has been trying to undo the damage that he’s done in the past. He been trying, there are just some things you can’t undo. But Minato is bound and determined to pardon him for his crimes anyway. In the last episodes, Obito came through Konoha seeking to take the Tailed Beast of Kushina during her time pregnant. However, his conscience getting the better of him, he stopped. Minato discovered who he was and pardoned him for his crimes. Obito would later travel to Kirigakure where he would attempt to free Yagura and his Tailed Beast from his genjutsu. Managing this, he and Kakashi begin to travel back from Kiri back toward Konoha.
